I really don't like visiting this store for a number of reasons, but I was in the area and needed two items so rather than going back to the one in Salem, NH again as I was there yesterday, I went to the Methuen branch. I needed white socks and tshirts. All of these items are locked up in cabinets....REALLY? In Salem, there are rows of these items where I can peruse w/o glass and don't require to contact personnel in order to make a purchase. This is VERY inconvenient and what is wrong with this store? Are people stealing tshirts, socks, underwear and more? I believe that their batteries are also this way too. Finding someone to open the case was not something I wanted to do, so I just drove across the street to TARGET where I could find what I wanted and I could make the purchase on my own - the selection was less, but I was more than happy NOT to have to seek out someone with a key to make a small purchase. (Apparently the clientele between these two stores is very different or perhaps it is just the way that Walmart handles it or treats their customers - I do find it insulting that the store has to lock up things or perhaps it is just sad... :-( ) In looking at he reviews, I see that someone else has commented on items locked up tight and the hassle she had to get to the item of interest: Bad customer service experience I asked for help three times and nobody could get somebody with a key for something small I wanted in the glass cases. They made an announcement to the store and there was still nobody until one woman noticed I was waiting and went across to the store to get a set. I guess this store has a lot of mistrust with people having keys that nobody has one ---- This just stresses the fact that I will continue to visit other Walmarts if that is the store I need for an item and avoid the Methuen store if at all possible. Customer service is horrible I was at the Walmart in Salem Nh and the manager Maria was so rude walked away while we were trying to understand the rule of returning diapers that I received without a receipt I was told when I called I could return diapers there was No amount I was told for a limit and instead of explaining it to us walked away and when called back to the front came didn't say a word except to the girl at the register to return the second box of diapers no apology no nothing. This location is ridiculous. On a busy Sunday they have one person working the Customer service booth and only 3 lanes open.

Pretty good service! We got everything we were looking for, got in and out no problem! Their safety measures keep the main doors closed and seperate the main hall area so people will enter and exit at the side doors. They wear masks require that you wear a mask and enforce social distancing and have indicators on the floors. Some isles seemed alittle untidy but besides that it's about as good as the other Walmart's that I've been to. Just like others you can cash checks etc. and they have a pickup area at the back of the store indicated by a big orange sign on the wall above it for online orders. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars! Would absolutely never recommend this store! This Walmart has gone above and beyond to do the absolute minimum possible in terms of customer service. Self checkout was only accepting cash and the only 2 registers open had lines thru the store isles. This is beyond ridiculous. Don't see the point in having 10 closed registers while 12 staff members are standing around watching the lines and checking receipts. If we're trusted enough to check ourselves out why check our receipts instead of just having staff check us out in the first place!? Let's not get started on the audacity the staff have to treat people as rude as they do. Get it together!!!! This is absolutely the least efficient way to ever run a checkout at a major retail store. Can't get a hold of anyone over the phone. I called asking if they had the one bite barstool frozen pizza, and this lady said they have 4, then when I clarified that I'm asking about a specific brand, she hung up on me. I called back 5 times and only got a hold of someone when I called electronics. The guy said they have no barstool frozen pizzas. Good thing we didn't go all the way there to get the pizzas.. don't know where she got the number 4 from but it's obvious they don't care about their customers. read more

The first thing I noticed when I entered this Walmart was that it's smaller compared to the one in Salem or Plaistow, NH. And the whole place also had a very creepy vibe: not many people there. Employees are scarce and not helpful. I went into the store for a video game for my DS. I found what game I wanted and asked the employee in charge if he could please remove the game for me. He said "sure" and grabbed the keys to the case. He then stopped and spent 10 minutes talking with another customer who he knew/recognized. The conversation started in English then switched to Spanish (I believe they assumed I didn't know the language), first talking about cell phones then cars and misc. unrelated Walmart conversation. The only other employee around was a girl who wouldn't stop talking on her cell. Who's in charge of this place?! Irritated and not wanting to spend my entire afternoon at Walmart, I interrupted, saying "sorry, but could I get that game...?" The employee replied "Oh yeah, sure" then continued to converse with his acquaintance. So rude! It would have taken one, MAYBE two minutes to get the game out of the case and pay for it. This Walmart always has everything you need and is always fully stocked but they have one major problem...the store is always a complete sloppy mess. When I shop in this store (which is rare due to its condition) the shelves are always unorganized and a complete mess and there is always merchandise sitting on the floor in most aisles and displaced merchandise on the shelves. Its not that hard to keep a store of this size in an orderly fashion, by simply hiring minimum wage employees to continuously organize the shelving during the day shift. The management (at Walmart) should pay close attention to the condition of the Target store across the street. Target is always clean, employees are always in most aisles with 2-way radio communication with each other and every shelf in the store is in perfect order with the exception of holiday clearance areas (which is quite typical in any department store), Walmart managers....I suggest you start cleaning up your act or Target will put you out of business. read more

I bought 3 visio tvs from walmart the picture was so good on the display tv 2 were gifts that werent set up right away so warantee expired .neither worked or eaven turned on 1 time the other one could be turned on but i had to plug it in and unplug it for about 200 times and literally pray for it to come on .dead now .great looking tvs guys visios just dont expect them to work .dont buy walmart visio tv or anything else from thease stores because they are poorly made by questionable at best people .try something made in the usa. This Walmart is in a plaza that is full of very interesting people. I went here a couple times to get a cheap rug that I knew was going to get destroyed and one other time to randomly get another cheap house hold item. The plaza itself is a shit show. When I say "shit show" I mean expect there to be the typical guy in some shitty car driving really fast without any attention to pedestrians, with the bass up listening to rap music. - "Yes, Walmart parking lot guy, you are very cool and very intimidating in your car, driving all fast and stuff in a Walmart parking lot listening to your shitty music" Senseless. Plenty of screaming and or unattended screaming children, tons of people wearing pajamas in public, tons of people who thought they'd make a trip to Walmart a family outing clogging up the isles with no manners. Horrible experience this morning at Walmart in Methuen. There was a display of Lysol spray without a limit sign. I grabbed 3, to share with family. No registers were open, only self check out. I rang in a Lysol spray, then another and the male employee at self check out at 830am this morning RIPPED the spray out of my hand and yells, "you can only get 2!" I was shocked and caught off guard that an employee could be so rude and just rip something out of my hand, from behind me. I finally said "ok, thats my second one." The employee then went INTO MY CARRIAGE where my 2 children were sitting, and took the other one out! This is not ok!!! I understand having a limit, but there should be a sign, and if you're monitoring what people are buying, have registers open! Lastly, there is a way to notify a customer that there is actually a limit on Lysol, even though there was not a sign. It is NEVER acceptable to rip something out of a customers hand, and then go in their carriage and take items out They did the same thing to the woman behind me buying bleach. She yelled about how disrespectful they were, and walked out without buying anything. I don't blame her. I will never shop at Walmart in Methuen again, and will tell everyone I know to stay away as well. read more

First, I feel I need to give a bit of background. We came from the MidWest, where WalMart is king. We are used to 24 hour super WalMarts in every corner being your one stop shop for anything and everything. Boy were we in for a shock. This WalMart is basically the stereotype WalMart that everyone always tells you to stay away from. Up until visiting this location, I never understood why people called talked about WalMart in such a poor manner (not speaking of business practices here). I can't really add much that hasn't already been said. The store was filthy, it looked like items on shelves hadn't bee straightened out for days-weeks, and the clientele were less than desirable. I am certainly not going to be back. The Salem, NH location is a quick drive away, it actually is a super WalMart (with groceries and the like) and is a far better experience. read more

Just the worst customer service. Every single time. I live in town and my son only drank Walmart branded formula so I was here very often. The whole workflow around this is horrible. There's never anyone anywhere to help and if they is , they find someone else and never come back. I made one good encounter with a cashier very helpful and cheerful, short curly golden hair wish I knew her name. . And ideally, the checkout anti-theft host, is annoying. The worst store ever. It's like walking into another country. No one speaks English and few employees understand English. It is NOT the employees fault, it is WALMARTS FAULT. This Wal-Mart has everything you need, it's just so unorganized. On one side of the aisle you have food and on the other side is bedding. It drives me nuts. I went on my lunch hour to do a return, ten people in line, one manager working who doesn't call for any help, I was here the entire hour for a simple one item return. This person answered incoming customer phone calls having lengthy conversations while we all stood there. My boyfriend and I decided that we would go to this Walmart since it was close by and we needed last minute things for our apartment. The store is so unorganized people have no manors everyone is ignorant as can be. We'll what disgusted me is that after buying our bedding set. This is the worst WalMart.The selection is terrible. The parking lot is a pain to navigate. It's small, and there are cars and people everywhere. The store tends to be overcrowded with few lines open and few people working. The few people who are working tend to be in the back of the store, shouting to each other in Spanish. Terrible place. This place is a mess! This is -hands down-- The worst Walmart I've ever been to. I bought a TV at the Walmart in Salem, NH, it broke so I sent it away to be fixed under warranty. Anyway, after about five months of waiting for my TV, Walmart finally calls and says they're going to give me a brand new one because mine can't be fixed. They gave me a confirmation number, a contact and a phone line to reach them at and told me that I could pick up my new TV at the Walmart in Methuen at any time. I went to the Methuen store and argued with the clerk for 30 minutes, who refused to get the store manager for me. Eventually she just ignored me and I was waiting for more time. Finally someone got the manager and after one hour of them telling me that I had fake information, they told me I could go get any TV in the store... So I did. Walmart on pleasant St is much better than it use to be but they really need to do something about the parking lot. The front doors are in line with incoming cars and because of that the lines are backed up because people are trying to cross.....it's just a mess and needs to be redesigned.... ALSO, they should only hire people who are bilingual!! I find myself shopping more often at Target now. read more

Walmart in Methuen, MA is absolutely filthy. I am not prejudice, but, no one speaks English. This is America. It is full of people who mow you over and don't even excuse themselves. If you try to say excuse me, you get a dirty look. Most of the merchandise is dirty, opened, or damaged. I went in for the last time a few months ago and I swear noone spoke English.
