I took our two cars to Meineke in Blue Springs, MO several times over the past year or so for oil…read morechanges and was initially pleased with the service. This last time broke my trust in the people at this location. They came back saying 3 of the 4 screws holding the top of the air filter box were broken and would need an entire new box since they couldn't remove the bottom portions of the screws. The guy was looking up the part and said it would be several hundred dollars. The air filter had not been messed with since this Meineke did the last oil change (did they break the screws last time or this time?). I took the car home, pulled the air filter, and the screws came out easily by hand. I picked up a pack of 4 screws for a couple of dollars and put them in myself. I went back to talk with the manager about the issue of suggesting something expensive that didn't need to be done. He was very defensive, saying, "You fixed it...so it's OK", basically dismissing the entire thing. As I tried to discuss it further he basically said, "OK, I'll talk with him about it" and left, walking into the back so he didn't have to discuss it further. I won't be going back since they wouldn't even listen, plus destroyed my trust in their work by saying the car needed parts that it didn't.
