Mediterranean Accents - authentic Moroccan Lamp

Mediterranean Accents

(2 reviews)

Manayunk, Roxborough

It's been close to a year since I've visited this store, but with no one offering any info on…read morewhat's available, I feel in this instance it is okay to ignore my usual time frame cut-off, especially since I have been shopping here for over a decade. M.A. is a local store run by extremely friendly people, offering all kinds of (what ignorant Emmett assumes is) Moroccan wares, often at an unadvertised discounted price. You can score simple things like incense, oils, their holders and the like, jewelry from the trinket to the exquisite, beautiful statues, carpets, and wall hangings, as well as furniture of all sizes. However, none of these lovely things are what originally drew me to this establishment, nor are they what brings me back time and time again; Mediterranean Accents sells tobacco use products, from the tiny little blown one hitter to the much larger hookah. Back in the early 00's, when I was working 80+ hour weeks at Arroyo Grille and my only free time was spent hanging with my best friend Mary Jane Hemple, between shifts you'd often see me sprinting down the train tracks and along Main Street on my way to replace a little shattered masterpiece (if you let them know you work on Main St. they will almost certainly hook you up with a discount; try not to abuse this you non-locals). Not as extensive a selection as you can find anywhere else that sells this type of gear, but pricing is very competitive (simple bowls average about $10-$20). Another instance where you will need to examine closely tube diameters and thickness of glass before you buy, but why wouldn't you anyway. The favorite items of mine are, naturally, the inexpensive pipes (what I have been buying exclusively of late), but the real score comes when they have their little 10" double bubble glass water pipe (I always called it my portable bong). I've purchased side cars and bubblers here for under forty, though not recently, and I still have a two foot green glass hookah with two tubes that is quite purdy (and functional), which I got for $60 in '07. If you are a 19128 or 29 local and are in need of a disposable/ backup or travel piece/ permanent fixture in your peace pipe repertoire, you could do a helluva lot worse than this hidden little gem.

This store owner does not like to pay his bills. When I try to reach him he just hangs up. The…read moreother people in the store have absolutely no phone manners what so ever. I can only imagine if you bought something and needed to return it.
