The service here was impeccable, the ambiance warm and cozy, the food was the best Indian food we've had! We shared an appetizer which was their Papri Chaat, and we thought it was amazing. Mr. Wonderful had the kebab chicken and plain naan and it was perfectly spiced, moist and tender. And I had their Matar Paneer (medium spicy) and it was simply perfect. Walking in, we weren't sure what to expect. The bright lights and wood makes for more of an American Grill feeling. Fear not, the food is all Indian! We had chicken Tikka masala and Channa masala. Both at a requested medium spice. Both were cooked well, the food was tender but not mushy. Both sauces were very flavorful, rich, and thick. Neither was very spicy. Each dish came with rice, which smelled delicious, and was more than we could eat. We also got mint naan. Oh yummy! Service was adequate. Very good Indian food and a different take on the cuisine than what we are used to from our neighborhood spot back in SoCal. The classics like vegetable korma and masala were spot on, but I was most intrigued by their Indo-Chinese dishes a sort of hybrid of the two, cooked the way people in India seemingly like Chinese food. The chicken Manchurian was so good we ordered the cauliflower version for the vegetarians in the family. Only complaint is there were no gin speciality cocktails on the menu and it was slightly understaffed. However, it was a Sunday and the food once ordered came out very quickly. It's nice that Walla Walla has a Indian food option. Came with a large group and ordered maybe 7 dishes to pass around and try including lamb saag, lamb tiki masala, butter chicken and Dahl. The naan was our favorite thing and everything else was good. That said, nothing blew our pants off and the food portions were very small for cheap ingredient dishes which are not hard to make in a more filling portion. Maybe it's because rent in that space can't be cheap. I'd probably go back if I still lived in Walla Walla but if I had a choice between this and Portland food truck Indian...the food truck would win every time. read more

Arriving from Portland kinda late Saturday night, we (my dad, mother-in-law, Spazz, teen and myself) struggled to know where to get food. Our first try was a Thai place. I don't know if it was the late hour or they just don't do dine in, but they said we could only do take-out. After a long hot day of driving and only enough time to dump out stuff at our hotel, we wanted to sit and have a meal out. We left and ended up here. Service was okay. The menus were great. The food was not bad. I wasn't a huge fan of the spices and the thickness of my Aloo Gobi or the Palak Paneer. Everyone seemed to like their dishes a lot. Very upset overall because of the way the waitress brought the card reader to us before one of us was even done eating and asked if we wanted to split the bill five ways. Some had pre-drinks, some didn't, some shared a bottle of wine, and the food varied greatly... come on, like we're just going to split it without discussing? We said no and she was visibly irritated and we said we wanted to pay separately. She then went through each person's tab and announced the amounts and expected us to automatically produce our cards. Excellent food. It was even better pre-Covid when they had a lunch buffet so you could try several different options. There are lots of appetizers and entrees for vegetarians. People in my group usually order a mango lassi and are happy with those. This is authentic food made by cooks who understand how to blend spices to get the most flavor from your food. It's in line with the prices for restaurants in downtown Walla Walla. It's lovely to sit outside in the summer and people watch as you enjoy your food and your guests. read more

Very underrated restaurant in Walla Walla. Started with the Samosa Chaat and it was delicious. The yogurt and vegetables mixture is like Indian salsa. Had the Chicken Saag and Naan as an entree. Another great meal. Place was bustling with the start of Whitman's semester and summer visitors. So nice to have a sense of normalcy on the back end of COVID. Butter chicken and Korma were winners. The one dish that I avoid is Tikka Masala, as I don't care for their recipe. Otherwise, all is great! Given the prices, they do need to increase the quantity of protein in each dish. On 5/17/23, I arrived in Walla Walla, Washington, late at night. There weren't very many restaurants still open. Of those that were, this is the one that received the highest ratings. Walla Walla Indian Cuisine has a 4.6 rating on Google and a 4.5 rating on Yelp. My experience did not match that, but given how highly most other diners are reading this restaurant, I assume that I had a one off. I ordered Lamb Samosas, Butter Chicken, and a side of Butter Naan. Lamb Samosas ($10) - crispy triangle filled with minced lamb and peas. I was very excited to see these on the menu. While the meat feeling was plentiful, it was not well seasoned, and it as overcooked/dry. If there were any peas, I didn't see them. They may have just been cooked down. Butter Chicken ($18) - succulent chicken pieces from our clay oven served with rich creamy tomato sauce with butter. I don't normally order Butter Chicken, because I make an excellent version myself, and it's better than most that I've been served in restaurants. But there were lots of reviews about this specific dish, and many diners said it was the best they had ever had. I asked my server to relate to the cook that I would like it prepared the same way they would do so, if making it for themself. That was my way of saying "make it Mumbai hot." While the sauce was nice and creamy, it was the blandest and least seasoned version of this dish I have had, and the chicken was over cooked and dry. The rice was perfectly cooked. I shared my concern re: spice level with my server, who told me she could bring out a bunch of spices that I could add to it at my table. Given that I was not eating Pho, I declined. She graciously offered to remove this item from my bill, which I accepted. Butter Naan ($3) - flat leavened bread with butter. The naan was very good, but there was no butter on it. With the exception of one other table, everyone else was eating outside on the patio, which was pretty full. The interior is dark, but it's a comfortable dining space. I like that they have big booths and that it's quiet. The service was excellent! This restaurant has a very large number of vegetarian options. And I'm impressed they have goat on the menu! In all fairness, I did arrive within 45 minutes of the restaurant closing. My server brought out all of my food at the same time. I very much appreciated them serving me this late at night, but it was clear to me that they were in a hurry to get out. I understand completely. Given the stellar reviews this restaurant has received, I think that my server may have failed to communicate the spice level I wanted. Or perhaps the cook miss heard, and thought that I wanted it a lot less spicy than usual? Either way, I would definitely give this restaurant a second chance. Based all the other outstanding reviews, including many who say this is the best Indian food they've ever had, I feel confident that upon trying this restaurant again, I would be likely to give it at least 3 to 4 stars. But I don't typically eat at the same place twice when revisiting a town, so it might be a while before I get to try it again. Hence, the reason why I wanted to share pictures of the food, menu, and interior. So you can have it on your radar for your next visit to Walla Walla. P..S. The owner of the motel, where I stayed shared that this is one of his family's favorite restaurants, but he did say that they did not like very spicy food. Given that, I think another explanation for why my food was so mildly seasoned is because the restaurant owners and cook are focused on meeting the expectations of the majority of customers who dine there, which I respect. read more

The food was a mixed bag of really good and poor. For appetizers we tried the lamb samosas and chicken strips (can't remember their name). Unfortunately, both were extremely overcooked, dry and in desperate need of salt. The sauces they were served with were quite good. The naan bread was excellent. Our dinners were also hit and miss. My wife ordered the mango curry a mild which was a beautiful mix of sweet and spicy flavors and the Chicken melted in your mouth. This dish definitely was the gold star of the evening. My dish was the lamb tiki masala. It was ok. The lamb hadn't been braised long enough and was chewy and tough. I got the sauce in medium and it was good but was missing something. Our service was superb. They were attentive and the food was served quickly. The atmosphere was great for a date night. Overall, I think that I will return. The things they did well they did very well and you can avoid the things they don't do well. read more

DELICIOUS! I have been here a few times now and I have never been disappointed with anything that I tried. Come in for lunch to experience their buffet or order from the menu for dinner. Buffet: Prices are around $15 per person. If you are a student there is a 20% discount. The price is totally worth it. Every dish in the buffet line is fresh and tasty. Whether you are vegetarian or a meat eater, you will be satisfied here! Menu: For the prices on the menu, I really wish they would have the buffet option available for dinner too but I regardless, the prices are fair and seem to be consistent with Walla Walla's pricing climate. I tried their butter chicken curry both from the buffet and from the menu and it is absolutely a dish I get every time I come here. Garlic naan is also a must-have! The wait staff is really friendly and incredibly helpful when you have a question about something on the menu. They have a bar and alcoholic menu so if you want a drink to go along with your dinner, there are options. Overall, this place is a good place for a quick lunch or a dinner date. Good for coming alone or bring your friends! I definitely recommend this place! FYI--you WILL smell like Indian food coming out of here so keep that in mind if you are planning out an entire evening as this may not be something you want say, walking into a concert or catching a flight immediately after. read more

Indian food is my absolute favorite. I was here for a conference and had lunch here. I liked it so much I brought friends back with me for dinner. I am vegetarian and had two types is paneer dishes. For me, this was not great authentic Indian cuisine. Indian food is normally very spicy with lots of curry and other spices. The food here, even though I requested spicy , was very bland/no spice at all. The chicken pakora(?) appetizer was dry and tasteless. The naan was excellent. The chicken curry w broccoli was not very flavorful and had zero spice. The waitress said they don't make the food spicy due to customer dissatisfaction. If I wanted authentic spicy I would have to come in the morning to order my dish. So, if you want real, spicy hot, face sweating Indian food, this is not the place. read more

The service was completely inattentive and non-existent to the point where we almost got up and left before ordering. It took a solid half and hour for someone to come over and take our order. The restaurant seemed completely overwhelmed by the holiday volume of business. The chicken Tikka Masala was pretty good overall but I have had better in the past elsewhere. I've ordered from this restaurant multiple times when in town to visit family. From the last visit (12+ mi the ago) the protein in the portions had dropped by about half - this time being only about 1 medium chicken breast of meat per entree, and less than a handful of paneer. I ordered 5 entrees (paneer tikka masala, chicken tikka masala, aloo Gobi & butter chicken) + sides (chutney, Raita, naan, onion salad) and the cost was $102 but barely fed the 5 of us. There were also only 4 portions of rice. The flavor is great, spice was perfect (was not asked level). On par with Nirmals in Seattle WA BUT smaller protein portions even when compared in "real-time". If it wasn't for the rising food costs I would have removed additional stars. I just expect to be full off of a single entree. Unfortunately after this visit, I can't warrant the expense any longer and won't be returning. read more

First time here today. We had an amazing experience with the quality and authenticity of food. Perfectly seasoned and spices were spot on. The presentation of the food was very appetizing. My only complaint was the shrimps were over cooked (chewy). I'm still giving 5 stars because it can be improved. We enjoyed the friendliness of the staff and customer service. I have to say the food was about as authentic as restaurants style Indian food can be. That evening it was so busy - we were three of us and the place was mostly empty. The server was talkative and kept us occupied since the food prep was taking a bit longer than he expected. But we weren't in a rush so that didn't matter. Service was excellent. First, I really, really like Indian food and will seek it out in any city/town that I'm visiting, and I was really excited to try this new Indian restaurant. This review, however, is for the lunch buffet only. The lunch buffet line seems to be turned around slightly with the condiments at the start of the line along with the Mango Lassi drink container. I'd personally rather have those at the end of the food line. So, after I'd been through the line of items, I went back to the condiments, but there were several people in line right there, so this was rather awkward. As I didn't know the food items, I didn't know what condiments I'd want until after going through the line. So, my suggestion would be to move those condiments elsewhere or to the end. If you are here with no other fellow foodies, take a gander at the food items before getting your plate, silverware, and of course, the mango lassi! Then you can make some intelligent decisions about your condiments. Now to the buffet line. There were many options with name tags to tell you what you're tasting, but if the item wasn't chicken, then it was veggie. Where's the lamb dishes? Particularly a vindaloo? Where's the tiki masala (that's even a chicken dish!)? So, I tried many items, putting small portions on my plate to get a taste of everything (this is a buffet, so the plan is to go back for a second plate of the best tasting stuff). On the second pass, however, it was only for an additional swig of the mango lassi (very good) and another piece of naan (plain is best here). Does this tell you something? Yep. The flavors just weren't there compared to all of the other Indian restaurants where I've eaten. I really, really wanted to like this place, and I'd like to give them another chance when I'm visiting the area, but not for the buffet. It just isn't worth it unless you're new to Indian food, then you won't have anything to compare to and this will definitely fill your tummy. The inside of the restaurant is very well decorated (and the ceiling is BEAUTIFUL). There were three TV screens back near the bar area. The booths are super comfortable, but the service was a little lacking, but we are eating at the buffet.
