I've been day dreaming about this place ever since we first stopped by. It was a little burger spot with a lot of cars parked out front so we decided to drop in. I'm so glad we did. Let's talk about the patio area. It's beautiful! Very well kept up and lots of shade! The environment was very welcoming and had a nice vibe to it. The employees were friendly too. We ordered burgers and milkshakes. The French fries are perfectly seasoned as well as the burgers. My chocolate milkshake was creamy and thick. This is such a cute place! All the seating is outdoors and they have it nicely decorated and comfortable. You order at the counter then pick up your food when your number is called. My husband said his Walker Burger was delicious and quite fresh. They have beer battered onion rings (major bonus to us) and they were very good. Because they did not have all beef hot dogs at the time of our visit, I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich which was fine. Can't' really mess that one up! Walker Burger is an oasis for the sunburnt and tired! Burger was good and french fries are excellent. My two friends loved the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato. They also have a milkshake/malt menu about 15 flavors long. I'm a vanilla kind of girl and I liked the peach milkshake. Walk up counter service and cash only. Outside sitting amongst the trees. We love this place and stop on every summer trip that takes us down 395. They are only oen during the summer. It's a good, old school, walk up type place with basic burgers, dogs, chicken, etc and a gazillon flavors of milkshakes. The burgers are made to order--hot, fresh, greasy and delicious. Soft buns, tasty and juicy patty, all the extras you can add including red onions, ortegas and crispy thick bacon! The fries are thick, crinkle cut, salty and hot. The serving size for the fries are humungous--two can easily share a small. The food is great, but the best thing about Walker Burger is the picnic area. Somebody really loves gardening because this place is a reflection of a loving hand. There is a shady lawn with tables, or you can grab a picnic cloth to sit on the grass. Beautiful and funky flowerpots, flowers bursting from containers like an antique washing machine or old wine barrel, an old windmill, funky birdhouses everywhere, cultivated flowerbeds, hedges and trees. Just lovely. There is the trickle of fountains, birds singing...you just can't believe you are at a burger shack on a lonely highway. One of my favorite places to eat in the Eastern Sierra. Have been here many times and never disappointed. The food is great, the people are friendly, and your dog is welcome to sit politely at your feet in the back garden dining area. Walker Burger is also very popular with motorcycle travelers. If you're thinking about passing this place by and writing it off as some dumpy side of the road joint that might rip you off, DON'T! This place is worth every penny (which isn't a lot because it's well priced) This is a family owned place that always makes me feel better about spending my money there. I'd prefer to not let this one get out as I am a devout loyalist to the In and Out burger but if I was propositioned with either a Walker Burger or an In and Out burger, a Walker Burger wins every time. My husband and I drove down from Minden when we heard Walker Burger finally opened for the 2017 season. Their burgers are soooooo delicious, the onion rings were cooked to perfection and the shakes were creamy and as tasty as ever! Am so grateful to live in the Carson Valley (NV) less than an hour away. Love the garden setting for casual dining. When busy you might wait a bit for the food, but because it's fresh cooked it's worth it! Some feel the prices are high, but considering the location and the freshness of the food we don't mind paying a bit extra. A trip to WB is always a special treat!!! read more

A must stop on your way along 395. Passed this place a few dozen times in my life before we ever stopped here. Once you stop here for lunch...you will be hooked. We stop every time now when we travel up this way, even if just for some ice cream. The food is great and the garden eating area a nice stop on a road trip. Fantastic little spot to grab a bite. People are friendly and the grounds are beautiful. We stopped here with two small children and it was a prefect place for them to run. There are lots of grassy areas for them to play in the shade. They even had a box with picnic blankets so we could enjoy a picnic under a shade tree. Bathroom is clean and private. Yikes--we checked into our motel at 6:30, and were warned that finding a place still open for dinner might be tricky (this was Memorial Day weekend). After finding the deli closed, we tried the next spot--a burger joint we had few expectations for. As it was, they were just about to close, but stayed open a few minutes extra because people kept coming by (at 7pm). The guy who seemed to be in charge was just about the most charming individual I have ever come across, and we were so pleased with the service and the food that we had to stop by again on our way home. (Both times he was very apologetic about the 50-cent credit card surcharge. Which is a lot, when you think about it, but not his fault.) The burger menu's a little tricky (I tried to order something off the special menu, which I thought was the only one, but ended up with something completely different from the regular menu... live and learn). And there's not many veg options--shredded salad, Gardenburger (the bane of every vegetarian who has tried any other brand), very salty fries, onion rings, fried zucchini. But the burgers are good, the service is lovely, the ambience is serene, and the milkshakes are flavored with real fruit (!). Highly recommended. read more

This used to be one of our favorite spots. Never again will I give business to a rude owner! He is a grumpy old man who needs a lesson in business etiquette. 2 summers in a row he has screamed at our kids and caused a scene in front of customers. There is a lot to see and do there but apparently kids need to sit, not move, look at, or touch anything. After spending $250 as a big group, he proceeded to yell at our kids again. After that he proceeded to yell at us adults (8 of us) not once, not twice, but 3 times in front of all his customers! I have no respect for a person who runs his business this way. The food is hit and miss good. Don't waste your money especially if you have kids. read more

Love this little place! In Walker, CA, just north of Bridgeport, south of Topaz Lake. Staff is hella-friendly. Great cheeseburgers! Also good swirl soft-serve cones. One of the best burgers I've had . I split a double beef, with bacon, onion ring, lettuce, tomato and bbq sauce. Then had a small ice cream cone which wasn't that small. Take a walk around the gardens and listen to the birds sing. Also if you need to use the rest room it is spotless. read more
