While the quality seemed nice, Sally's lacked the selection I needed because my hair is difficult to match. Off I went to Waba, which is owned by the same people who own Lee's on 22nd. Holy guacamole! This place is the Wal-Mart of Weave (in a good way). Tons of colors, lengths and styles. Synthetic to real human hair to feathers, you name it, they have it. The employees helped me in all my clueless-ness and found a very close match to my hair color. Since the ones that matched weren't clip-in ready, they are going to make them for me and I can pick them up on Monday (I went in on a Saturday afternoon and they are closed on Sundays, so I am pleased with the turnaround). They even measured my head so that they will fit perfectly! The price was reasonable too (about $100 for 14-inch human hair clip-in extensions). I highly recommend this place for everyone from expert to beginner. The quality, price and knowledgeable staff are unbeweavably awesome (sorry, I can't resist a good/bad pun!).

One lady, exasperated, announced in a strong voice, "Don't ever get old. They treat you like children." Another person was being patronized by the pharmacist, as if the man wasn't able to grasp the difference between two kinds of pain patches. This particular pharmacist talked to me as if I were unable to discuss an ongoing problem with their computer. On the Walgreens website on my computer, the refill was ready. When I went to pick it up, this pharmacist said the refill was not ready. Once again, in a patronizing tone, he said that he could help me with the Walgreens app. He also made a comment about what happens "When we get older." It was unpleasant, to say the least. I'm a retired engineer from Hughes Aircraft.

The studio is now officially a team of two, lead by founder Marissa Duarte and her sister in law Vanessa. The services no longer include nails services. Their focus is entirely on skincare. Vanessa does offer waxing and lash lift/tinting services though! So, if you are looking for a place that is entirely dedicated to facials of various kinds with a holistic approach, this is it! And it's LOVELY. The studio is cozy and super well appointed. I was super relaxed the entire time. I went in for a facial that included gua sha with Vanessa. Vanessa is incredibly sweet and fun to talk to before and after your session. She keeps the session chat free so that you can indulge in all the relaxation possible and I loved it! Another nice aspect to their business is that it is a gratuity free zone, meaning that the pricing on their website is what you pay for and that's it. So you can think of it as the gratuity is included. I've never experienced that before and I must say it's a really nice way to enjoy a treatment. One of the things that drew me to them is that they were willing to use only products that contained plant ingredients. I'm unable to use products with synthetic chemicals because my body is very sensitive to them. Many skincare businesses have a problem with this because so many products that are out there are not actually clean and non-toxic. This was not a problem at Beauty Republic though. Not only did my skin feel fantastic post-facial, they sell products that I can buy to use at home, and there are so many options to choose from that meet my criteria of being clean and non-toxic! We are so lucky to have this business in our city.
