They are rude, deliberately slow, obnoxious, and we're talking both the girl you check in with and the pharmacist. You'd think they have never been trained; they act confused. This Walgreens gets added to my list of places that are completely clueless and should be avoided at all costs. Every time I've come here, the lines are long and the store has that chaotic feel that none of the employees know what the hell they're doing. Meaning that if anyone in line has a question or a return item, you'll be waiting a long time with the rest of the grumpy folks to get through the checkout. Parking is also a nightmare, with about 20 metered spaces. The crusty downtown San Rafael Safeway is miles better than this hole. Avoid. read more

The pharmacy here has your back! My doctor prescribed me a drug that interacted with another medicine I'm on. The pharmacist at this Walgreens was the only one to catch this & inform me. The pharmacist even went above & beyond to call me at home & explain everything again because my husband was the one that picked it up. When my pharmacist is more thorough than my neurologist , I know I need to stick with this Walgreens & time to drop my neurologist. I should have never been driving on both meds, so they prevented multiple horrible things that could have happened. read more

They're good enough. I give three for being reasonably quick to fill scripts when I hang out (they seemed busy, but it only took 20 mins or less), and for having my meds in stock every time I go regardless of whether I ask for generic or brand-name. I don't give more because, honestly, they're not *that* great, just good enough most of the time. Oh - if you're myopic you might not notice that the parking lot is METERED - and San Rafael's finest will indeed give you $26 ticket if you have to wait 31 minutes for your prescription and forget to feed the meter. Word to the wise - I'm just saying. Take it from a very bitter parker, they're watching you. All the time. read more

This place seems to almost always be open. I go there sometimes to get their Roxane Mountain Spring water which is the same as Crystal Geyser and only costs 89 cents a gallon instead of the usual dollar or $1.10. Also, they carry burts bees products and a number of other items that can be useful. Generally, there is not much of a wait when checking out. They are open nearly all hours of the night. read more

Yup, the staff are zombies, as another review puts it. So much is clearer now. Parking often difficult, and SR Parking enforcement trolls this lot for meter violations. On the positive side, phone order prescriptions seem to be filled very quickly. On the negative side, aggressive panhandlers are the norm here. On the positive side, you can upload photos to their online site, edit/crop, etc., and have them printed in the store so you don't have to wait or pay for shipping. AND then you don't have to talk to the zombies at the photo counter, so it works really well! read more

This is by far the slowest, poorly staffed pharmacy in Marin County. As one example, I have been waiting in the drive-through (arrived with absolutely no one in front of me) for 10 minutes with no acknowledgment of my presence until I pushed the call button, when I was told I would only need to wait "a few minutes." Time to change pharmacies. Which is a huge pain, given insurance coverage. But it will be worth it. read more

Pharmacy staff somewhat friendly but all others seem to hate their jobs and take it out of anyone in front of them....assuming you can get their attention! It's a bummer since they're conveniently open 24 hours a day but who wants to go there if you can't get any help! I've given them 4 tries but tonight was the last. Inside staff ok, sometimes understaffed in Pharmacy, so long waits on occasion even via drive thru. Beyond that your usually greeted by your typical San Rafael crack heads and harassed by pan handlers. Expect nothing less from a business in SR that is open in the later hours. read more

Walgreens at 3rd St, San Rafael used to be the only 24hr pharmacy in Marin. When I called earlier this evening (9.45pm) to get some urgent info about how to use an Albuterol spray inhaler for the first time,( cos the instructions weren't adequate,) I got a voice mail saying they now close at 9pm and the closest 24hr Walgreens is at Castro and 18th in SAN FRANCISCO!!!! yIKES!!! wHAT IF SOMEONE HAS AN EMERGENCY AND NEEDS TO GET MEDICINE OR INFO QUICKLY, AND IF THEY'RE TOO WEAK TO DRIVE ALL THE WAY TO SAN FRANCISCO LATE AT NIGHT, OR THEY DONT DRIVE!!! THIS REALLY SUCKS!!! There's no 24hr Walgreens in MARIN COUNTY NOW!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PHARMACY THAT CLAIMS TO BE AMERICA'S FAVOURITE PHARMACY!!!??? This totally sucks and could be most dangerous and disappointing. It's no longer my favorite pharmacy. Zero stars !!. Dangerous and a big let down. Who would think this could happen in Marin? First it was silent for about 5+ minutes then it began to ring and ring for about another 15-20 minutes, and then it shut off and was DEAD! Nothing accomplished in about 40minutes total on hold....at a pharmacy that also deals with after hours emergencies.!!!! So don't risk it. Don't trust them if you need after hours urgent care and if you cant wait for about an hour or more to speak to a pharmacist on the phone, and don't want to keep calling back and be put on endless hold. ZERO STARS! Very disappointing and could be dangerous to your health! Be warned! read more

So this walgreens has the goods and the not so goods... Obviously this place is busy so there can be lines; if you are expecting it then it's not so bad. It sucks that you have to pay to park in the lot, especially when you get stuck in line and the meter runs out ($35 ticket), but then again that's what can be expected in downtown SR. Now once you're in the store and not waiting in a line, the staff is very friendly, helpful and they will take the time to help you out properly. My most recent experience was outstanding because Zach took the time to properly help me... This resulted in finding that I had overpaid the last time that I was there and instead of paying this time I actually got my products and about $5 back! Lucky me the meter didn't run out ;) read more

This is the unfriendliest pharmacy ever! Every now and then you'll find a friendly person, but they are so overworked at the pharmacy, that their service is unkind!! i was at the San Rafael Walgreens a couple weeks ago and had a couple questions about the different prescriptions my grandma was on and their side effects. there was only one pharmacist working that night and was awfully busy but still took the time out to explain every med to me when it was my turn. she had great customer service and i was happy that the pharmacy was open 24 hours a day because Rxs are always guaranteed to be filled. for those of you complaining, you should be thankful that there IS a pharmacy open 24 hours a day. It's not easy for an employee to work well into a night, short-staffed with tons of prescriptions to fill and a never ending line. be thankful. geez. read more

Teresa, who works in the Pharmacy Department, is a bald-faced liar. I went with my sister to fill 2 prescriptions Friday night after spending 5 hours in the ER at Marin General. My sister gave Teresa the prescriptions, and she told my sister to take a seat. This was not said nicely, and my sister said that this woman had bullied her in the past. I asked to use the restroom, and she said no. I asked why not, and she said that the restroom had been out of service for 2 months. I went outside to try to find a bathroom in the area but everything was closed at 10:00 p.m. When I came back, another pharmacy person was helping my sister. My sister asked why the bathroom had been out of order for 2 months. The woman ignored her. I said, "Excuse me, but did you not just hear my sister ask you a question?" She finally admitted that they were not letting people into the bathroom because it became "too messy." I asked her to buzz me into the bathroom through the locked door adjacent to the pharmacy window. As I went in, who should I meet but Teresa, coming out of the restroom. I said, "She is buzzing me into the bathroom." She seemed surpised, and said "Oh, she is?" It seems the employees are tired of non-customers coming in to use their restroom, as evidenced by all the reviews of this Walgreens mentioning the "crackheads" who gather outside the door. California law requires that businesses provide restrooms for the customers' use. To out and out lie about this is ridiculous. There was nothing wrong with the restroom. The bully Teresa needs to be given a reprimand and a serious lesson in basic customer service. It's the law, Teresa. read more

While I have been here several times and received decent(not great) service, I have been incredibly irritated with the pharmacy of this location, on my most recent visit. I was sick, I wanted to pick up my medications and go home to sleep. The pharmacist tells me 30 minutes, I go run an errand and return, 40 minutes later, and to my dismay, my perscription is not ready and I am told I will have to wait an additional 30-40 minutes for it to be ready. This is frustrating, I have no more errands to run, I am sick, and I want to go home, yet I can't. After returning an HOUR after the second visit, they tell me Once again, I need to wait 20 more minutes. I politely explain that I have been back 3 times and waited over an hour and a half, I am sick, just want my Meds so I can go home to bed. He tells me the best he can do is 10 minutes, and then makes me move my car out of the drive thru area, even tho there are two lanes and no other cars waiting, which means I must park in a metered spot while I wait yet again. Had they been honest about the wait time in the first place I wouldn't have spent my day SICK and driving around waitin no the prescriptions. NOT how anyone should be forced to spend their day. read more

This must be the store that Walgreens sends all of the rude employees that work for Walgreens. What a crazy collection of totally rude and ridiculous employees! A few weeks ago I went in and asked an employee where I could find silver polish and she said "I don't know" and just walked away. I then walked around found a cleaning supply section bud didn't see it. Being that the pharmacy was five feet way I asked if the guy behind the counter if he knew and he told me "I'm a professional pharmacist and don't work retail." Against my better judgement I went back today because I needed a passport photo and I saw a $2 coupon online and printed it off to save a couple bucks. I go in get the photo hand Alberto the coupon. He looks at it for a few seconds and says "I don't know how to do that" and hands it back to me and says "it's only two dollars who cares." I care, that's who. I don't know how much they are paying Alberto but it must be a bunch to not care about two dollars. If you enjoy bad customer services I highly recommend this Walgreens! read more

I've been using Walgreen's in San Rafael as a pharmacy for nearly 10 years. The various staff have consistently handled a challenging situation with diligence and professionalism. Why is the situation challenging? The place is a hub, with vast quantities of people including me swarming in like drug-seeking locusts. Many people are impatient, cranky, sick, injured, or otherwise stressed and I know I wouldn't be able to work there for more than about 3 days without going crazy. That being said, they have two cash registers and a two-lane drivethrough -- and during peak hours, with a full staff, the dam is close to bursting. They've actually 'run out' of shelf space to store prescriptions so they've begun placing overflow on the floor, sometimes forcing the staff to root around, raccoon-like, for your meds. I've also run into some inexplicable trouble a few times processing my medications but usually it's fine. As has been mentioned, the parking situation is less than ideal. The parking lot is more of a roost for parking enforcement than an actual place to park, and it is truly an awesome sight to watch them swoop in like birds of prey, cackling maniacally as they ticket hapless customers who only had enough change for 8 minutes of parking time and didn't know it would take 22 minutes. So often it makes more sense to forgo the adorable miniaturized traffic jam and simply park in the adjacent 2-story lot if you can bear walking an extra 75 feet or so. So I give Walgreen's (pharmacy) in San Rafael 3/5 stars. The staff is generally great, or at least perfectly adequate, but the mechanics of the operation are ill-suited for the volume. read more

Never again. Never. 3 out of 4 experiences I have had with the pharmacy at this Walgreens have been awful. "Come back in an hour" is code for "your prescription will be ready tomorrow". And then we will make you wait another 20 minutes. When you are sick/miserable, the last thing you want to do is sit in the waiting room and watch the overworked/under-staffed team hopelessly deal with a never-dwindling line. I would not go here. They are rude. I went in a few weeks ago. I grabbed a few items I needed and headed to the register. The girl that rang me up never greeted me. What was worse is that she was having a conversation in Spanish with her coworker the entire time. I asked her if I could have a bag three times before she completed the transaction. When I asked for a bag again before leaving she wanted me to pay. That was why I asked for one so the charge would be with my other items. This why I will never go back there again read more

3 messages left by them on my phone telling me my prescriptions were ready. I call to find out which ones, ZERO! None of them were ready So big black woman down there says they will all be ready in about an hour I wait 1 1/2 hours go down there NOT READY. She is at the drive up window same person and tells me another 15 minutes. I send my daughter down and she comes back with out the one I need to go to sleep the one I wanted. I was discontented twice by them before I sent her down. There is no point calling them they do not answer or I am disconnected every time. Then I go down again third time now, and he tells me they need a doctors signature. 3 TRIPS!!!!! still no prescription . I said the girl should have told me over the phone that one needed a signature. I am going to get her name and talk to the manager about her. read more
