This Walgreens pharmacy at Research Hospital is a wonderful exception. However, of all the Walgreens I have worked with for prescriptions over the years, this one is the best. They staff are kind and attentive. While I was hospitalized a pharmacist came up to my room and explained each medication, the side effects and the importance of why I am taking that particular medicine with my condition. I still have some of my maintenance prescriptions at a closer Walgreens, but with my Anti Rejection Meds for Kidney Transplant, the only ones I trust to get them to me on time with no delays or not understanding some of the complicated insurance issues involved is the Research Medical Walgreens staff.

You can tell they are not about customer service and want to avoid paying their workers past closing. They should change their closing time back 30 minutes so the last minute customers can be helped professionally. I hated to see the young ladies working lower their heads in shame while the owner stood on the side like a micromanager. I could go on from here, but I will not. I may give them another try, but I will not go in close to closing time.

As a Black woman in JoCo, it is hard to find a beauty supply store tailored to us without driving to "urban areas." JoCo is what I consider an urban hair care desert, and often Black women and other POCs will settle for less. Product inventory: 9.5/10 The store is well stocked with a variety of items. I had no issue finding what I needed at a decent price. Customer service: 8.5/10 This is a sticking point for this location according to previous reviews. The ladies working today were personable. They spoke when I walked in and professionally interacted with customers. I know I looked lost for a second looking for one item I needed, and it would have been nice if they offered to assist, but it wasn't a deal breaker this visit. I also felt like I wasn't being watched as other reviewers have mentioned. Shop at home: 10/10 Star Beauty has a website where you can shop and have items sent to your home, which is nice. From what I could tell, the online inventory was pretty decent and beat getting out in the cold. They offer free shipping after spending $60. Overall: 8.75/10 The store had exactly what I needed. It is in a good location with great product inventory. Black women have other options like Bunny's in KCK or Olathe Beauty, but Star Beauty is my recommendation.

I used to work for the company, so I know the general basics of the return policy. I got an older candle as a gift, and since I didnt like the scent I came in to exchange it. The associate didnt do the exchange for me due to it "being over a 90 day old candle". Ive never heard of this new rule before so I looked up the return policy and couldnt find it. However I admit I didnt look through it thoroughly so I called another store and they said that this store SHOULD HAVE done a exchange for me as "no receipt" and taken my ID (this is what i figured would happen too). So then after being told this by one store, I go back in to this store for them to say they'll only give me the lowest price of the item. So i just went to the other store and they did the exchange in 2 minutes, no issue. I don't want to be a Karen, but all stores should be consistent. If you cant exchange "older candles over 90 days" then all stores should be saying that. I shouldn't have to waste gas to go to the store that will. And if one store is saying they'll do it, you'd think the store saying the wont do it would just do it to make the customer happy and not have the customer drive around town. Its a bummer knowing my local store doesn't follow the same exchange policy that I've know for years. Im not trying to exchange a fully used candle, I'm just exchanging a gift that didn't spark my liking. This shouldn't have been an issue unfortunately.

But this review is more a story about how this place operates. Every Veteran's Day area HyVee's have a breakfast for Vets. My little brother (Army Vet) and I (Navy Vet) go each year. Mostly so we can let the people at HyVee know that we appreciate not only the breakfast but that they as a company and as individuals that VOLUNTEER to work the event, are deeply appreciated. So special shout-out to them for their time and consideration! As for the grocery store itself. It is exactly what you want out of a grocery store. Some of the things I really love: Bright and Clean Huge Selection Meat counter people are really helpful Food counters are usually well stocked and organized. Some things that need improvement: Produce selection. Good Basics but there seems to be no expanded offerings. Also while on produce... they at one time had a lot of the precut onion and veg and did a good job maintaining that. But, that has slipped. Bakery. So many wonderful options. But, there is no one willing to talk with anybody at that counter ever. And the one thing that bugs me about every grocery store... impolite shoppers! Hey, we all want to get in and get out with what we hafta get... we can do so politely and courteously. Look up. Pay attention to what is going on around you. Ask yourself if you are going to be specifically getting in someones way/personal space? Ask yourself if you are about to run into someone with your cart? -Sigh- this does NOT influence the stars for this HyVee.

As I pulled in I had no expectations and if anything just figured it wouldn't be great based off of previous visits a decade ago. All that to be said, when I walked in I was pleasantly surprised by the updated look of the place. They've obviously put some effort into modernizing the store and it showed. I made my way over to where pie crusts are and voila, there she was, my puff pastry! Only a few left but I found it and was elated. Checkout was a breeze and while this store isn't as convenient to me as it was a decade ago, it's good to know it's around and that it does deliver when you are in a pinch.
