Drab looking. Unfriendly staff. Trash on the ground in front of building. Very unkempt and dismal.

FITHY women's bathroom. It's was dirty the last couple of years, and I thought about switching pharmacies. But the staff at Whitney Way in the pharmacy and at the store are so good that I stayed. However, yesterday I went into the bathroom. Not only did it have the grime from the last time I was there, but it was absolutely filthy with bodily fluids and more. Please please clean the bathrom. Scrub the thick layer of grime. You can't fully blame the customers. Make it clean and customers are more apt to respect the space and be cleaner themselves. It needs to be tended to. Come on -- gas stations are cleaner than this store that dispenses medicine, where people get shots. BAD. read more

Used drive-through where I was the only person in the outside lane. Pharmacy tech came to window , took my info and ordered me to come to the inside lane to pick up my medication- said it wouldn't fit in the tube. I pulled into that lane; tech had disappeared. I waited 10 more minutes and when she failed to appear even after I hit the call button I left. Lousy service. read more

Do not go there if you are at a high risk for Covid or you care for elderly . The manager got within inches of me three times not . There were only three customers in the store . I tried to go around the place where he was unboxing items and he ran over to me like he thought he was being funny . He's the one with arms fully tattooed . If he's getting so close to people chances are he's spreading it . I called the corporate office no one called me back . Their drive up window was vandalized right after this now I cannot go to the drive up to pick up meds .As of this writing it's been boarded up for weeks . If you have prescriptions there please have them moved to another location with a drive up . read more

Walgreens is a staple around these parts. I could use an update or two, but they always have what you need, a card, gum, juice, chips, batteries, photo prints, vitamins. You know what you need, and manytimes you can find it here. You won't have to worry about much impulse buying. They do have a great rewards program though. Worst policies ever!!! Was with a friend and I had already checked out, my friend bought cigarettes and they carded me because I was either them so I returned what I had bought feeling they have zero right doing so, which become a very lengthy process. I wish Walgreens would have taken the same diligence with opioid prescriptions!!! They own the same responsibility as the drug company's!!! read more

I have a couple recurring monthly prescriptions. This Walgreen's is around the block from my gym so I tend to send my prescriptions here, but this location is a complete and utter failure at getting prescriptions ready, and notifying me that they're ready. Any other Walgreen's in the Madison area I've gone to, I put the prescription in through the app, and get a notification when it's ready. This one though? Nope! I've tried multiple times explaining that I haven't gotten notifications that my prescriptions are ready. The first time I explained this, the person I spoke with signed me up for robocalls without telling me. I had to go into my account online and turn off the robocalls. Then again I had a prescription with no notification. That pharmacist signed me up for text alerts. The first time after that I had a prescription filled, I got a text alert that it was ready. A miracle! But the very next time, no notification, no text message, no email, nothing. Inevitably I have to call in to their phone system to check my prescription status, and the automated system says "we contacted you recently about your prescription status, do you want to hear that information again?" NO, WALGREEN'S WHITNEY WAY AUTOMATIC PRESCRIPTION PHONE SYSTEM, YOU DIDN'T CONTACT ME, THAT'S WHY I'M CALLING YOU. I don't know what it is about this Walgreen's but either their system for sending emails, texts and app notifications is entirely broken, or the majority of people who work at this location just don't know how to click whatever button on their computer they're supposed to click to mark the prescription as ready. On top of that, when I go to pick up prescriptions, if there's any kind of line at either the drive thru or the pharmacy counter, the majority of the employees at this location take a ridiculous amount of time dealing with each customer, and I feel like there are a higher number of problem customers who create more time wasting as well. Even when there's not a line, if I'm picking up my prescription the same day as when I've filled it online, it's usually not in the alphabetized bin and they have to go looking in a bunch of other random bins to find the thing. I don't think it's too much to expect that this Walgreen's, like every other Walgreen's, should notify me when my prescription is ready, and have it ready when I arrive. But they can't even do that. This is my absolute last time having a prescription filled at this location. read more

Only pharmacy I've ever been to that wouldn't accept my insurance. Tried to tell me the prescriber wasn't in network... funny every other Rx by same provider has been fine at every other pharmacy I've been to. It was only a few bucks - but I've had nothing but bad experiences with Walgreens pharmacies. If you don't have insurance they are consistently one of the most expensive pharmacies in Madison. read more

Definitely a bit more run down and dingy than most Walgreens locations, but it's got pretty much whatever you would come to a Walgreens needing to get. There's a fairly large cosmetics area when you first walk in, food toward the left, and a drive-up window. It doesn't really draw me in to browse, but if I need something I know it's there. read more

To the writer below, 1 star is too harsh. Really?!?! Really?!?! Well, it's a two-star Walgreens. I walk here every day on my roundabout way to work. It's fine as it has the same amount of Walgreens wares as everywhere else. It's well-stocked and yada yada. I don't get my drugs there - of course my HMO has something to say about that. Here I'm giving you the experience of the stop. The Walgreens is accross the street from the West Transfer Point, so just be aware that some of those folks may be a little sketchy and loiter frequently. Google police incident reports if you want to get a bit alarmed by the loitering-type incidents [armed teen robbery (back and forth from the West Transfer Point); man with sword in parking lot; middle-aged man yelling at a 15-year-old girl that doesn't want anything to do with him... and so on]. The store clerks are a bunch of characters. Early in the morning (weekdays she leaves at 7:15AM), you have Gabby McGabberson. She talks, whines, complains and gives her boss crap. Stuff professionals can't easily get away with and is annoying for people waiting in line to get their crap and go to work. Lines?!?! They don't bother her -- she'll keep gabbing away making me steam. The manager looks like Wilford Brimley, but this version appears to been on total autopilot for 20 years. He's just there when required - that's probably why Gabby feels she can spew endlessly at everyone's expense. I go here every day because I like to start my day as bad as possible. When I leave, I'm agitated, aggravated and annoyed. The combination of all those emotions can't help to wake me up (with multiple cups of coffee that proceeded it). Stay a way from Whitney way Pharmacy. They don't protect a customer's PHI. I came to pick up a refill and the the agent ask me repeatedly whats the name and what is the prescription for.... I had to literally scream "YEAST INFECTION" medication while 13 people stood in line behind me... how annoying!! read more

It takes forever to get a rx filled. And some of the pharmacists don't seem to care. I asked about something and he shrugged his shoulders. Another time they just never filled my script and didn't even bother to notify me that they didn't have that medicine. I had to call the next day to find out. read more

Prices at Walgreens are terrible. Battery was +$6.00 for one. The same battery on Amazon was less than 50 Cents.

I have used this pharmacy for my medications for 2 years..It is inevitable that there is a screw up each and every time. Mallats pharmacy in Monroe St will now be getting my business! read more

This is the closest 24-hour Walgreen's to me but seriously, this place has THE most incompetent and slow pharmacy. I called in a script at 3, said I needed it by 5:30, and at 7:15 they didn't have it ready. When I came back 20 minutes later the woman at the next drive-through window was having the exact same problem. If you can help it at all, for pharmacy purposes, stick to the one down the road at Raymond and Whitney -- they're fantastic. read more

Terrible pharmacy and has been for years. Me and another man stood there with our prescriptions waiting to see the pharmacist while she chatted with her co-worker and filled other prescriptions. Once I got to talk to her, she was rushed and rude. I asked her a question about the inhaler, to which she replied "No idea. I have no idea. I'd need to look it up and it'd take 30 minutes" and walked away. Please fire this terrible pharmacist, she literally isn't doing anything she's supposed to and she's tainting your brand. You'd have better luck with a random person off the street, literally. read more

I've had the pleasure of dealing with the Walgreens Pharmacy for over two years now, on at least a monthly basis, but unfortunately it's usually more. I have multiple, complex and annoying health problems, which makes me a slave to the rule-reciting minions at the pharmacy counter, who don't know shit about shit. Don't worry, I understand there are rules and strict guidelines that have to be followed. Afterall, it's the idiots who abuse many medicines which have made it exceedingly difficult for the rest of us sickleys to get our DAMN PILLS. The problem I have with them is the problem people have with the DMV and many other American chain institutions. I don't like when people treat you as a policy, instead of a person. You'll ask them a basic question and they respond with a script that someone else wrote, something memorized for the job. And sometimes, that's what you have to do. But sometimes, it's good to look people in the eye, listen to what they are saying, and, I dont know, possibly...help them? Walgreens is genius because they hired a great advertising agency which created a bunch of commercials noting that we don't live in a perfect world, so for everything else, there's Walgreens. I threw my shoe at the TV last time I saw that commercial. We don't live in a perfect world, true, and Walgreens is a first rate offender. There's a couple things Walgreens is wonderful for. Like shampoo. And all the shit people try to sell on infomercials that didn't do well, because, well, they're shit. There is an entire aisle dedicated to "As Seen On TV Products", and that's cool and everything, if you have twenty bucks you'd like to lose and are in desperate need of "pajama jeans." They also have a great post seasonal aisle, which has a bunch of cheap chocolate and ugly decorations that are half the price, and could save you some dough for next year. But the buck stops there. Most people need Walgreens because they are suffering, and unfortunately, it's the DMV of medication distribution. Sadly I don't see Walgreens going out of business any time soon. For one thing, THEY'RE EVERYWHERE. I'm currently in New York City, and I passed 6 in a 2 block radius yesterday. That could be an exaggeration, but they're like starbucks, only the people handling your coffee are usually 10 times more intelligent than the people handling your pills. Does this strike anyone else as a problem? I feel like I'm on CRAZY PILLS!! Then again if I were, it's not like I could get the refill when needed, in which case I'd be having a psychotic break right now. Sometimes I think that's what's going on with Charlie Sheen. I know everyone is sort of having a boner for him right now, which is cool and everything, because the guy is pretty funny and such a spectacle to watch. But I can't help but wonder if he's just been waiting for his schizophrenia medication to be re-filled this whole time, and Walgreens is to blame. (In that case, thanks Walgreens! love, everyone) Anyway, I know deep in my soul, this blog isn't gong to do much. All I am is a sick kid with a computer. I lack the strength, manpower, and money to go after Walgreen's. You'd know who'd be great to get on my side? Charlie Sheen. I think some tigers blood could really help this issue. Then when the person behind the pharmacy counter tells me they can't fill my prescription because, I dunno, it's Wednesday and it's raining, or something equally irrelevant, Charlie Sheen could just punch them in the face. We'd high five and walk out. WINNING! The problem is there is such little accountability for institutions like this, and such little oversight. I could complain to the manager, which I have before, but then I'm just that girl that complains to the manager, and everyone flips off when I walk out the door. I know how it works. They probably aren't paid enough, they probably aren't trained enough, and most importantly, they are not taught to treat people like people, they're taught to read rules, and that's where our system fails. We've lost our humanity. The worst part is, I'm totally at their mercy. I need my pills. And every time I need a refill, I take a deep breath and begin the process. Tears, screams, and six thrown boxes later, I usually get it. But by that time the damage is done. I've probably eliminated years from my already sickly life. Being at the mercy of someone unintelligent and more importantly, non compassionate about your situation, is a very, scary thing. It's terrible. Walgreens is like the douchey cop that threatens to bring you to jail for failure to use a blinker, and you have to turn on the charm, hard. I don't know how to fix this problem. I don't even know if it's possible to fix it. I googled "Walgreens Sucks" and saw a lot of things flying around on the inter-web. I suffered thru an ordeal last night at Walgreens because my UW physician assistant ordered a drug for pain when I requested an Rx for nerve pain. When I went to pick up my Rx and found out it was a controlled substance, I realized the PA had ignored my request and went by the book. I talked at length with Sasha, the pharmacist, who agreed that if the prior pain meds didn't help and given my complaint of nerve pain, that a nerve med would be worth trying. The UW nurse on call was nice and helpful and she called Sasha to verify my feedback. An hour later, I got the nerve medication. But I am certain I would not have had Sasha not gone to bat for me. After years of great service the Verona Rd store closed 18 months ago. The pharmacy at Whitney Way is generally awful. I am in Agrace Hospice and they pay for most of my meds. Several times the pharmacy will declare that hospice will not cover this scrip and I must pay. When hospice is contacted, I get a refund. There have been other issues as well, such as incomplete orders of meds I have taken for years and the pharmacist tells me I am wrong about what I should get. Again this is later corrected after calls to hospice. One order was rejected by the store even though it was the Agrace pharmacy calling it in while I was an inpatient at Agrace. Today I spoke to Bill, the pharmacy manager. Basically he said when there was a problem, I should just pay for it, tell the pharmacist to contact Agrace and wait three days to get my money back. read more

Pharmacy is horrible. Not all the time, but most of the time. Went in one time and waited 15 mins to make a return when there were staff available to help. Customer service just is NOT where it should be. I now go to a different location! Plain and simple. read more
