My hair did not even make it through the appointment. The manager blamed the weather. My hair was Bobby pinned and literally fell out. I was outside to walk to the vehicle and back inside. I live 2 1/2 hours north of the salon and was told I could come back in and it could be redone. The manager already blamed the weather for my hair falling out so I'm also not entirely sure how it could be any different when it is snowing/raining more than before! My event that my hair was done for is already over and I am on my way home. They absolutely will not give a refund. Beware no refunds even when they're at fault. The girl used a huge curling iron causing my curls to be so loose they fell out while I was still there. I asked the girl if she had a smaller barrel and she said that was all she had. The manager said they have a limited supply of equipment. Go somewhere that stands by their work and has proper equipment for everyone! Huge disappointment! I spent $139 on this service.

Katie at New Concepts saved my LIFE. ...Okay, not my LIFE, but definitely my manicure, the day…read morebefore we were flying out to Las Vegas for our destination wedding. After getting a complete hatchet job of a gel manicure at Studio Z (see other review: seriously, it was a gel manicure that started cracking less than 24 hours after application because the woman who did it had NO IDEA what she was doing), I was calling around town in a panic trying to find someone who could redo my nails that afternoon. I didn't want to try to fit in a ~$150 removal/new manicure at Treasure Island the morning of my wedding, because our schedule was already ridiculous. New Concepts happened to have an opening. As soon as I got there, everyone wanted to see the original job, and confirmed it had been applied wrong--which made it take about twice as long to remove as it should have, but Katie got it off and then did it RIGHT. She explained the whole process to me as she went, which helped me retain confidence that she actually knew what she was doing, and was also interesting for future reference. When she finished up, it looked perfect, and it has now held up beautifully for a week. I even scraped my nails across several rock formations while doing post-wedding shots at the Valley of Fire, and it didn't leave a scratch. Finally, they didn't charge me anything for removing the original job--just $35 for the gel polish (gel with a manicure is $50 at New Concepts, and most places charge separately to remove gels). That was less than I'd paid for the original bad job! I normally like to change my polish color a lot, which you can't do with gel, but Katie was so nice and I'm so impressed with how well gel holds up, I'm seriously considering sticking with it from now on. If I do, I will definitely be going back to Katie!

Don't waste your time or money…read more I visted NCS after reading the glowing review from Cabell G. on Yelp. I got my nails done and my girl was nice. The manicure was a little more expensive than I expected it to be but that was okay at the time. However, less than 12 hours later, my polish started to chip. I called and the receptionist was ditzy and confused as to exactly what I needed done. It was frustrating talking to her, and then when I finally got in to get my nails fixed, the stylist who was formerly friendly was cold and didn't talk to me. She did a good job fixing the chipped manicure, but I was pissed that I had to waste my own time to come back and get something fixed that should have been done right the first time. One of my nails broke four days after the original manicure and even more nails were chipping and awful looking a week later for a manicure that should have lasted at least two weeks. I will never go here again, I feel that it was a waste of money for such poor service and poor product.

Don't quote me, but I think that a basic haircut is about 25 bucks. (I also get a beard trim there at the same time, and the total before tip runs about $35, but I'm not sure of the breakdown.) Teresa, the head barber/hairstylist is a gem. Not only has she been doing this at the same location for about 35:years, she's also a sparkling conversationalist, unless you'd rather sit in silence, which she's fine with, too. Her online reviews will affirm my recommendation, they're positively sparkling and people swear by her. They're at 2829 E. Washington Ave., in the strip mall adjacent to Walgreen's. Their phone number is (608) 246-4311. Often she's worked alone, but lately, she's had some highly competent help, so you can't lose. Sometimes, they can accommodate walk-ins, but it's better to phone ahead for an appointment. They're open five days a week, which includes Saturdays, but they're closed Sundays and one other day of the week, which I can't remember. As I said, I've looked everywhere for a place that's both reliable and affordable, and believe that they're the very best!

But when I explained I actually had an appointment, I was directed by Erin--who was supposed to be my stylist--to take a seat in the small spot acting as a waiting room. She introduced herself from the nearby chair (maybe 10-12 feet away from me) while she was working on her client's hair. I sat down. The client said softly to Erin, "Sorry," presumably for exceeding the length of the appt, but that's not her fault obviously. Erin said loudly, "I'm not! I knew this was going to take a long time!" Because this is a small shop, I'm new, and I'd already felt like I'd intruded where I wasn't welcome, I said, "Oh, I'm in no hurry!" But I wondered, if she knew her service was going to exceed the time frame she'd booked for her client, why did she book me in that time frame? And 20 minutes passed. No acknowledgment of me. No offer of water, coffee, nothing. No gratitude for my patience. I didn't exist. Or, worse. I felt they wanted me to leave. During this time, Erin gossiped with her client, asked her client if she wanted her to rewash her hair, she cut every single hair in the client's bangs and then went over them again (I've really never seen anything so vain--though I'm sure it was an awesome cut), curled the hair again, cut another hair, talked about so and so's husband and then paused for awhile to just gape at her work and to talk some more. And never once a nod toward my existence. I wanted to cry. It felt deliberately mean girl. So, I stood up and put on my coat. At that, Erin asked, "Are you cold?" I said no, "I'm leaving." And I think the client asked, "You're leaving?" But not a word from Erin or the other stylist there. And I left. No one cared that a client left. No one has contacted me. This was so mean. Living a block away, this experience was a disappointment for me with the Tenney-Lapham business district.

Not only was Angela probably the rudest and worse vibe to be around the day of, her style for hair is stuck in 1980. One of my bridesmaid showed a PONYTAIL with a few curls she gave her a 8 inch bump in her hair and 3 awful pony tails. When my bridesmaid tried to speak up Angela was SO rude and blamed my bridesmaid and "kind of" helped fix it. My entire wedding party re did their hair and makeup at the venue. She has young talented girls that work with her but she refused to let them help with follow up. Her breath reeks. She is incredibly over priced. I cannot believe people book this lady. If you're looking for a 80's throwback party she's your girl. If you're looking to have a good experience before your wedding day you better run the other way. I quite literally want to put in a request to my bank for fraudulent charges bc not a single bridesmaid looked good or deserved the treatment they got from her. Youre horrible at your job.

After discussing my hair goals with her, she suggested a different approach than the service for which I had purchased my groupon. The cost was equivalent, so they took the groupon with no extra fees. Brittany helped me select a color that looked great, and would work best with my hair and I LOVED the cut. I'm not totally sold on the organic dye - it didn't hold its color as well as conventional dye. I don't get my hair colored often but this dye washed out a lot over the next few weeks (I could see the color in the water when I washed my hair), which I've never had happen before. I purchased the shampoo and conditioner which Brittany recommended (to build protein), and after using it for a couple of weeks I switched back to my regular shampoo. I really didn't like the way my hair felt/looked while using their products. Definitely recommend for cuts and style, would recommend their coloring services if organic product is the most important factor to you, and would probably stay away from their hair care products (although YMMV - perhaps they'll work great for you).
