This is my favorite Circle K in town, and I'm a regular here, so it's time for me to write an…read moreupdate. West Ashley has no shortage of convenience stores, but the employees at this Circle K set it apart for me. The lead CSR goes by Phax and he is always so cheerful. When he's working the counter, he yells "Welcome to Circle K!" to all who walk in. He's quick to wish everyone a happy holiday season. I am a member of the Sip-and-Save program, where you can pay $5.99 a month for one fountain drink, coffee (iced or hot), or frostie each day. It's a wonderful deal and has saved me money, as it pays for itself in 4-5 drinks. Plus, Circle K is everywhere in Charleston, so you're never far from a fountain drink or coffee when you need one. I visit this store 3-4 times a week for a drink. As long as Phax and the crew are working, this will be my Circle K.

I actually lost my Spinx card here (that's my guess!) after pumping gas and going through the car wash and using the vacuum. I wasn't sure how I was going to get a replacement card, then I ran into Spinx employees at a booth at a business expo. They said, just download the app! It's fantastic! Scan the QR code on the pump and then it knows exactly where you are and lets you start pumping. After 10 years of having my card, I don't feel guilty about losing it now! The reason I'm giving this location one less star is because of the car wash. You would think since this location is less than 2 years old, the car wash would get my car spotless. But every time I've used it, even with the $25 Mack daddy car wash, my side mirrors and backend of my car are always still dirty. It's easy to see the dirt left behind on those spots and require extra scrubbing when I get the car home. Besides that, another winning Spinx location.

The price of gas here is…read moreoften much cheaper than across the street, which means they don't increase prices to keep up with other stations. Speedway has plenty of parking if you just need to go into the store, and there's a lot of room between pumps, so it's not cramped and easy to manuver a larger vehicle. Inside, there's an ATM, some prepared gas station style foods (pizza, hot dogs, etc), and a good selection of snacks and other junk for the road. You can even get a F'real milkshake here, which is pretty cool. It's easy to get in or out from both Main Rd. or Savannah Hwy, although traffic often backs up since people turn onto Main Rd. because they don't know about the other entrance. Speedway's your average gas station and nothing special, but it's a good stop on your way down Hwy 17 to Charleston or Savannah or if you're heading down Main Rd. toward Kiawah.

By being a member of Harris Teeter's EVIC program and entering your phone number at the pump, you automatically save 3 cents per gallon off the advertised price. Most days, you earn one Fuel Point per dollar you spend in the store, but on Friday, you earn FOUR Fuel Points per dollar spent, if you clip the electronic coupon. This means if you spend $25 on Friday with that coupon, you earn 100 Fuel Points, and every 100 Fuel Points is 10 cents off gas. I let my Fuel Points accumulate all month, and at the beginning of the next month, the receipts tell me how many points I can use to save at the pump. I mostly shop on Friday, so most months, I save 40-80 cents per gallon on a fill up by using Harris Teeter Fuel Center. Occasionally, Harris Teeter runs deals where you earn 4X Fuel Points all week, or 4X Fuel Points on the purchase value of a gift card (Harris Teeter, Amazon, and VISA/Mastercard excluded). The Fuel Center is never crowded and even has free WiFi. The pumps have mobile pay, and if you want a snack or drink, a few options are available, along with a worker who can ring your order up. The only reason I'm not giving the Fuel Center five stars is because you do not earn any Fuel Points from purchasing gas here. Since that is the case, I only fill up here when I am using points for discounts. If I earned Fuel Points on buying gas- even 1 point per dollar- that would be a better incentive to fill up here anytime I need gas.

The address says John's Island, but this gas station is actually on the way out of West Ashley heading toward Hollywood/Ravenel. It is NOT on the island. The food prices are competitive and make Parker's a good spot to stop for a quick breakfast or lunch- much faster and more reliable than fast food drive-thrus. The snack/packaged item prices are also better quality, especially the cookies. Parker's coffee and soda machines all worked on my last visit, and the ice was crunchy. There is a loyalty program for drinks, which includes soda but does not include coffee or cappuccino.

There stacked in front of it were three large boxes, which apparently was the restock ready (sort of) to go onto the shelves, but just never got there. You certainly can find the things on the shelves, other than the gift paper, which are too highly priced, even on their sale prices (usually buy one get one 50% off--which requires buying two, but that equates to 25% off per item). As an aside, there is one lady in the pharmacy that is handling my refills, etc. However, the prices were just getting up there, and not due to my wants, but just my needs, so I have moved all of my prescriptions to another pharmacy which is not really close to my Johns Island home.
