My wife and I have shopped at Walgreen since we moved to Cornelius and then to Denver NC. Needless to say, most of our shopping has been at the W. Catawba Ave location in Cornelius and for the last 3 years at the location on NC Hwy 73 in Denver. I think I have only shopped at this store two or three times before. It's located in Birkdale Village near the main entrance. It serves the people who live there well but if you're shopping at Birkdale, Walgreens is probably not your first-choice destination. My wife is a fan of a certain Bath Powder (Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds) but occasionally a particular location will sell out. My wife asked me to pick up some for her, so I tried Cornelius first on my way home from work and they were out so Plan B was the store on NC Hwy 73 in Denver. Alas, they were out as well. Went home as started to call other Walgreens and this was the first one, I called. Low and behold they had it so made arrangements to pick up a couple of containers the next day. The next day was a Saturday which worked out perfectly. Got there a little before noon an picked up the two containers. My wife who went with me, picked up a couple of items as well. Staff was very helpful and could not have been nicer. Good pricing and a pleasure to work with. Very clean and well organized store. Will consider shopping here again. read more

This pharmacy, without a doubt, is among the worst that I have ever patronized. The staff simply seems incompetent at every level, starting with the clerks and going straight up the chain to the Pharmacist-in-Charge. The wait times at the counter and the drive-up window are horrible and you simply get looked at with blank stares if you ask for help. Partial fills and refills are truly a debacle. From one day to the next, the directions you are given change, resulting in confusion and arguing amongst the staff, leading to multiple trips to retrieve the needed prescriptions. I've shopped Walgreens for years, but until I saw this location, I had no idea they could ever be this dysfunctional. I decided today to move all my family prescription needs to another pharmacy. :::: THE PHARMACY IS TERRIBLE!!!!! ::::: They never have things ready on time- they have a smug attitude (especially the pharmacist Danielle) and I will be moving my pharmacy!!!! If you need emergency medication- don't worry- they easily will take 12-24 hours MINIMUM!!! Additionally, if you call a refill in the day before- I can most certainly GUARANTEE that when you go the next day- It will NOT be ready. The service is horrible one of the workers were very rude. I was shopping for household items at 9:30am. I asked if they had a bathroom and was told not for the public because it's been trashed so many times. I was very confused it's 9:30 am I am a middle aged woman not a teen with friends. Why on heaven earth would a middle aged woman at 9:30am and shopping cart full of washing pods and paper towels trash your restroom. Terrible terrible staff. Make sure to stay away from the operations manager dee. First of all, takes forever to get connected. Was on hold for more than an hour and then when i called after being circled through the ringing tones multiple times someone just picked up the phone and left it there. I could here the entire conversation between the staff including patient names. Then she has an attitude like she's doing a favor by doing her job till 8. Stay away from this place folks.. read more

The most discombobulated pharmacy I have ever encountered!!!! Understaffed, poor customer service skills. I asked if I could order a reoccurring prescription that I would be receiving on a monthly basis. They acted as if this request was unheard of. I rarely leave bad reviews, but I feel a need to warn others: the pharmacy here is terrible. All spring, they messed up one of my prescriptions - only filling a month at a time instead of the 90-day supply - but, having been a customer for over a decade, I let it go. However, recently, I had a pretty common medication called in and only received a partial fill - it's been over a month and the staff still hasn't bothered to fill it, claiming they have ordered it, oops - there's nothing in the system, the system messed up...lies and incompetence. I will be moving all my medications so I don't have to deal with their inability to care about customer health. read more

This has happened several times otherwise I would think maybe they're just busy. My doctor sent a prescription. I called at 4:30 just to make certain they had it because I have to leave for a flight early in the morning. They did have it and said they were working on it. Since the pharmacy closes at 8:00; at 7:30 I started trying to call again. They continued to put me on hold. So I went there. They had one prescription ready that had been ready for me for a couple of days. The other one they said that the doctor has been really busy and he would have to look at it before they could give it to me. I saw the doctor filling other prescriptions and there was no one else in the pharmacy waiting nor was there anyone at the drive-through. Several people were filling prescriptions one after the other but I could not understand why if I'm the only one there waiting why would they not put mine ahead of the others that are clearly going to be picked up tomorrow since it's time for closing. I'm not sure if this is a system problem, and I don't care problem, but eventually the lady came out and said do you really have to have this one tonight or can it wait until tomorrow. Are you kidding me? After I've waited all this time. Yes I need it tonight my doctor prescribed it and wants me to start it today and I have an early flight out in the morning so it will be days before I can get it. They finally got it ready for me. This is ridiculous. Especially since this happens every single time I go there. I'm hoping someone from management reads this and not just shoppers. They need to change the protocols... read more

If there was a less than 1 star - the pharmacy would be lucky to even get that. If you value your life, do not let your Dr call your prescriptions into this pharmacy. Waited in the drive thru for 1/2 hr while the person serving the window ignored the person who was in front of me. I went inside thinking maybe that would be better, wrong, the new girl they hired, checked the computer and said prescription wasn't in. I had the phone call, the text and was sitting in Dr office when they called it in to Walgreens. Guess it's too much for the new girl to actually check the bin..... Hope the bacterial infection in my hand doesn't land me in the hospital tonight, since new girl was to lazy to check the bin for my prescription. We've been using this pharmacy for a few months since our insurance doesn't allow our old pharmacy. Absolutely horrible experience. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Every prescription there's an issue. After I had throat surgery, they made me call and handle the issues that they are supposed to take care of. Then later on, they accused me of misdosing my child for a prescription they didn't give enough for. I would rather pay out of pocket than come back. Never again read more

Staff is nice, and they usually have good sales! I like to peruse the makeup and skincare aisles and the ladies that work there always ask if I have any questions! The pharmacy department is always helpful if I have questions about any of my medications and give their professional opinion about the over the counter medications. read more

I went into the pharmacy having a reaction to a medication i was on and i could not believe how helpful and reassuring the pharmacist, Jeff, was to me. He checked my blood pressure which was very high but he calmed me down and when he checked again, it was lower. He went above and beyond. Great job Jeff and Walgreens. read more

You know I'm a stickler for customer service, and although Walgreens in general is ok, this location made me glad that I'm not out in Birkdale often. There was always the same lady working at the front and I felt as if I was inconveniencing her by being there. When they were having a special deal of some sort with this lip balm she was hesitant to give me the deal because I had just signed up for the card. She is just difficult to deal with every time I have gone in there. Another time I went in there for a drink, and there was nobody at the register. I waited and waited... and waited. Then I walked over to the photography area to see if I could make my purchase there, and he told me to go back to the register I was just standing at, (where he had seen me standing too..) He did call for someone this time though, and a manager came over. As he was running my credit card, their system went down. He kept trying to swipe my card, and said it was running extremely slow. Ok, I know what you're thinking... that can happen anywhere, and you are absolutely right. BUT he was only slightly apologetic about it and just walked away from me as I was standing there. He didn't tell me he'd be back or where he was going, just walked away. By this time there were a couple other people waiting. The manager ends up coming back and tells me to go back over to the register at the photography area. I take my drink over there and my card goes right through. I was frustrated but understanding of the situation. I just wish there would have been a little more communication of what was going on. All in all, I've been to Walgreen's with much friendlier service. read more

Drive through always takes forever. I saw the cars backed up once, so I went inside and that was just as bad waiting at the counter.

Yesterday I had the worst day ever, I was out of my medication that I needed and my insurance company was being the least bit helpful with my plan that had just started that day. Pharmacy tech Dawn went above and beyond to take care of my prescription and to help me fix my insurance. She took the time to try to solve the problem even though they were very busy and was so kind and helpful when I came to the pharmacy. So thankful for people like Dawn at this location!!! read more

A very nice Walgreens. I was looking for sleep aides late at night and the pharmacist on duty was very helpful and knowledgable. As I was new to Sleep Aides she explained all the different varieties and which worked best. She also pointed out where they were in the store and aided me in picking a good one. read more

Pharmacy is terrible! They are rude & seem to always ask way to many questions. If I hand you my drivers license, please hand it back. Just common curtesy things need to be established by management. Jeff and Dajen in the pharmacy are the best! My daughter has a chronic illness and we have been getting her medications here for 8 yrs. They are accommodating, answer questions, are extremely helpful when we run out of a med too early due to dose changes. Excellent, caring service!!!!! read more

tbh the guy at the register was lowkey cute, and he helped me and my friend. but he was only nice because he's trying to win a survey contest and we saw him flirting with the other customers also they have no bendy straws. you'll get a better review once i get some bendy straws. read more
