We stopped in to get our COVID 19 vaccines. The whole process was pretty darn good. A couple days before our appointments, an opening freed up and they took the time to call us and offer us. We were not available that day, but the associate on the phone was able to tell me which vaccine we would be getting on Tuesday which definitely made it more reassuring to know ahead. When we got to the location the actual pharmacist helped us with check in and paperwork. She was super polite and nice. Our appointments were spaced out about an hour apart. She managed to get us both vaccinated at the same time so we didn't end up waiting longer then we had to. This pharmacist was very gracious and understanding of my needle fears and made the actual shot, quick, easy and almost pain free. She let us both go in together and it was over in just a few minutes! I would definitely recommend this location for vaccinations as I had a great experience. read more

Don't go to this pharmacy! We had a script for a pain med and they put in to insurance for 30 pills a day instead of a total of 30 pils over 7 days. Insurance denied the claim due to protecting its customer. It took multiple calls to get it straightened out. I would not trust this pharmacy with your prescription. read more

I will get calls saying the medication is ready for pickup only to arrive and they say nothing is ready. After asking a different worker, all of a sudden they are ready. I got a COVID test for my son who needed it as he's too young for the vaccine. The test was needed for entrance into a Broadway show because it is mandatory. The test hasn't even reached the testing center yet so this morning we scrambled to get a rapid test done. There's no excuse for something to be so behind. Just go to CVS instead. read more

Wow. What a great store. Organized. Polite staff. Clean. Pleasant. Pharmacy area was open at 7:30 on a Sunday. Maybe they are open 24 hours, I did not check, just noticed when I walked by they were open. This is located in a busy area, Citi and Chase nearby, 7-11, Panera, Gas, tons of other stores and eating places on the two corners. This review is mainly for the Take Care Clinic -- which is like a mini doctor's office inside Walgreens that offers tests and shots. I came here to get a TB test for a new job (I swear, I've had so many of these tests in the past few years that I don't understand how I'm not sick from it or something) and was blown away by the awesome service in the Take Care Clinic! Two extremely friendly ladies were quick to assist me with my check-in and paperwork as they bubbled with enthusiasm. When I came back two days later for the reading, one of the ladies was there again and remembered my name (!!). You can walk-in but you have a better chance of avoiding a wait if you make an appointment ahead of time on the Walgreens website. I made an appointment for my first visit and didn't wait at all. I was a walk-in for the second visit, but since it was a quick reading, I didn't have to wait terribly long and they took care of me quickly. I wish all my medical and doctor visits were this pleasant! As for the rest of the Walgreens -- other employees were friendly and asking us if we needed assistance. Many of the younger workers at this location are rude and lack customer service training. This is every time I visit. I live across the street from this Walgreens. One particular day, I had a pharmacy tech contact me about taking a few vaccinations. I told her I was waiting for my arm to heal from taking the Covid Booster. She proceeded to say, well it is highly recommended you take these vaccines due to your health condition (High Blood Pressure) and age. I felt offended by delivery of her message. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. So I said to her, well that was rude, let me decide when. Thank you. I know for fact that Walgreens train their workers. This place has become a joke. I've recently had a major surgery and suffered some additional setbacks. Multiple times Ive come to pick up medication and have had problems with the service . once the pharmacist was on break so I had to come back in 45 minutes. That is after waiting in line for some time. The problem was resolved when she asked me a simple question. She could have called me but no.... That would require service. Today I went to pick up an order that was placed prior to my discharge from the hospital last night. Because they couldn't verify a residents license to prescribe controlled substances they rejected the order.no call was made to me or the hospital to solve the problem. That would require service above and beyond their policy I guess.I called my primary physician and asked him to put the order in for the prescription. It has been sitting there for hours now....no action even though it stated it would be ready for pick up by 5:21pm. It is now 7:15p.m. I will be moving my prescriptions out of this joke of a pharmacy. Terrible terrible... No service. It's now 7:22.... This review is strictly for the Advocate Clinic inside this Walgreens (previously the Take Care Clinic). There really aren't a ton of options when you (or your family) has an urgent healthcare need on a weekend, even more so on a Sunday. Therefore, when my 4 year old showed signs of pinkeye and I didn't want to wait another day for diagnosis and the super awesome eyedrops, I looked up this Walgreens' clinic and got ready to go. Before I left I checked the hours of clinic (9am-4pm Sunday) and I tried to reserve my spot but there were no appointments available. No biggie, I didn't mind waiting a bit if needed. When my daughter and I arrived at 11:50am there was no one waiting and only one staff member behind an open door on a computer. I went up to the kiosk to check in and the computer stated: "Away for lunch: 12:30-1:00pm." Mind you, it was 11:50am at the time. I asked the staff member if we could check in and here's how the exchange went: Me: "Hi, can we check in?" Staffer: 'We're just about to leave for lunch, we'll be out until 1pm." Me: "Oh, the screen says 12:30-1pm...and it's 11:50am." Staffer: "Yeah, we're just about to leave. We have clients through the afternoon. You could wait until after 1pm but it may be a while." Me: "You know the lunch hour isn't shown on any of the online hours, right?" Staffer: "It's right here on the door." Me: "Yeah, totally get that, but if someone is looking for hours online, there's nothing that states the lunch hour." Staffer: "You can call the 800 number." Me: "Do you have any other recommendations as to where I can take my daughter? I don't want to sit here for 2 hours with her." Staffer: "Um, not really...all the other Walgreens clinics take the same lunch break too, so I don't know what to tell you." Me: "Ooooook, time to go." Moral of the story? Walgreens, update your hours online and please train your staff to offer solutions or suggestions when clients can't be seen due to an impromptu longer lunch. read more

On a very cold day in early December of 2022 we bundled up my 94 year old Mother and loaded her and her purse and her walker into the car to get her ears cleaned as she was having trouble hearing. You schedule this through the store clinic and it's done online. We have done it many times before. I also scheduled a Covid booster and flu shot for myself - stupidly thinking about killing two birds with one stone. We get there, unload Mother, unload her purse, unload her walker and get her in the store. The clinic is near the prescription area opposite the door - in the back corner of the store. Took Mother to the waiting area and register at the kiosk. When the technician came out, we were informed that the cost of this cleaning would be $160 for the visit and $100/per ear - total $360. When we questioned why the cost was almost tripled prior to what it was before, we were told that Medicare no longer picks up the bulk of the cost. I asked her why this wasn't noted on the website where appointments were scheduled and got the immediate, usual and overused excuse that she "didn't know - she wasn't in charge of the website." We declined the ear cleaning. Meantime - still waiting to be called in for my covid/flu shot. Finally realized that I needed to check in and went to wait in the line for pharmacy prescription pickup/dropoff that was halfway down the aisle. I asked the pharmacy person behind the counter why it wasn't noted on any signage that check in was needed there. Again, this person didn't know either. Finally got my covid/flu shot after waiting over 30 minutes given to me by another technician who apologized for the wait by using the same old/same old excuse of being shorthanded. Walgreens also had a buy one/get one free offer on some of it's vitamins. We bought two bottles of Vitamin D gel capsules that my Mother was charged twice for and that I had to go back the next day to get reimbursement after having to wait at the cash register for the cashier to call the manager because she didn't know how to do that. That was Strike Three. I immediately changed all of Mother's prescriptions to Osco Drugs. Take your own life into your hands going to Walgreens - I wouldn't buy a stick of gum at the place and will never go back to the Elk Grove Village or any other Walgreens location again. My biggest regret is that I have to give it one star just to write the review - it's far below that. read more

This review is for the pharmacy only. Picking up a few prescriptions each month for my family and myself, these guys always seem to find a way to screw things up. There are some specific notes with some of our prescriptions that the pharmacy staff is often too careless to read. Their consistent errors cause me to waste time by having to call or come back in to straighten things out. I've been given a generic medication for something that I've requested be a name brand. Liquid medications are given without measuring spoons, syringes, or cups. Staff are unfriendly, uncompassionate, and incompetent. Most recently, I encountered a more serious problem: staff that have colds or are sick and who are spreading their germs. I witnessed one young lady sneeze and cough into here hands! She them pulled a soggy kleenex out of her pocket to wipe her runny nose! Even 5 year-olds are taught in Kindergarten to cough or sneeze into their arm. Jeez! read more

We've shopped at this Elk Grove Walgreens regularly for many years. We're happy with their selection for the most part, but since the coronavirus pandemic, they NEVER have available the supplies in dire need; i.e. Lysol spray, hand sanitizers, sanitizing wipes, antibacterial soaps and cleansers. They've made it very clear that if and when they receive some in a shipment, they do NOT put any aside for their senior hour shopping Tuesday + Thursday early mornings. Very disappointing indeed! I was here last week Wednesday to pick up photos and I haven't been here in awhile, but it has changed a lot especially their customer service. The young guy helping me with the photos wasn't rude but he acted like he didn't wanna help or I was keeping him from restocking the shelves while chatting away with his coworker. He sent me to pay at the register instead of the photo register which I'm used to, but probably because there was no line. That's new to me, who knows! At the register I paid for my photos and 2 peanut M&M which was listed as 2 for $3, but I'm glad I caught it coz he charged me for 2 for $4. I told him the price tag on the shelf says otherwise and all he could do was apologize. He didn't even honor the price like most stores do for their mistakes or even bother to check. Yes, I could've returned it and it was only a dollar difference but it was the principle. I wish I could've taken a photo of it, but I just wanted to get out of there and not deal with their laziness. I understand it's a pandemic, but I've had better customer service! I guess that's what happens when you have kids working the register. I guess from now on I'll just stick to my Schaumburg store or the one in Meacham! read more

I haven't had any prescription through Walgreens for years. Since my regular pharmacy is not open 24 hrs I had my physician called it to Elk Grove Walgreens. One of the Prescription was Miralax, a stool softener. My doctor think it's a lot cheaper for my insurance will cover it than buying it OTC. Here is the Kicker, they charged me $51.99 for a GENERIC Miralax. The OTC brand name miralax cost $22.99 and the generic cost $17.99. Explain to me how the pharmacy can charge almost $30 more than how much they are selling it OTC. Some other pharmacy will inform you to buy it OTC, but no, the Walgreens pharmacy just filled it without any concern for their customer. The other issue is Walgreens does not know if my other prescription is formulary or non-formulary. There is s $50 difference co-pay if its non-formulalry. I was told by the pharmacist that i have to deal with it with my insurance. Now they want me to do their job for them. Walgreens is SO proud of how they treat and care and that the welfare of their customers comes first. Wow, so much for the caring and concern oozing from Walgreens. read more

This is my go-to place for prescription and over the counter meds. The people that work here seem to be super nice in comparison to other Walgreens I've been to. They seem to be locals from the neighborhood. Ofcourse, drug stores are drug stores, but just a simple smile and a greet go a long way. I also like the fact that this place is 24 hr. I'm able to hit this place for Zyrtec D and the hours help whenever I have to make an emergency trip to the drug store. This place now offers flu shots. I was just there returning a used product and the lady who was helping at the beauty department carried herself as if it was the most disgusting thing in the world. I mean, she didn't even touch it. She grabbed it with the tip of her two fingers and tossed it on the other side. Then after I got my reciept, she immediately got her sanitizer and was pumping that shit 10 times with the most dramatic way possible. Regardless of whether the product was opened or not, that's a poor reflection of customer service. Luckily I was the only customer there because I'm sure other customers would have also brought it up to the manager's attention. I called the manager and made a complaint. Hopefully he makes a point because if he doesn't, walgreens customers service standards should be reviewed. read more

This Walgreens used to be very good, I can remember never having issues at the pharmacy or waiting in ridiculously long lines. However, at some point between late 2011 and mid 2012 things really changed here. I always wait at least 10-15 minutes in line whether its the drive thru or in the store, at least once a month they read a script (mine are recurring) wrong and I end up with insurance issues and have to get a new prescription from the doctor to go elsewhere. They also announce your address which I tell them not to do, but they don't get the privacy thing. To top the privacy thing, they decided to have a pharmacist come talk to me about a prescription (recurring, nothing had changed) and the pharmacist demanded to know the details of what led to being prescribed the medication, what my most current test results were and what else I was doing for my condition in front of customers. I immediately told the pharmacist that it is none of their business and if they have concerns, to call my doctor. She then tried to tell me that I should take a different drug and I told her if she didn't stop, I was going to report her to Walgreens Corporate and the state for diagnosing and trying to prescribe medicine when she is not in fact, a licensed MD. She finally stopped. When I told my doctor about it the next day, he told me that certain Walgreens and other pharmacies are letting their pharmacists try to diagnose and prescribe for people which is not legal and often, very dangerous. Pharmacists have no business deciding what drugs a patent should or should not take. If there is and issue, they need to call the doctor not diagnose and prescribe for the patient. Since then, I have cut back on Walgreens. I would totally cut the cord but unfortunately it's the only 24hr pharmacy close to my house :/ read more

The estimated wait time was over three hours and while waiting in line, we were all treated to the spectacle of a nurse who was embarassing some lady and her small child because they had All Kids. She actually said, "I can't help you because you are on government assistance!" Yikes. The store itself was ok and is open 24 hrs. but that nurse was an embarassment to the company. read more

I purchased a few Revlon items that were buy one, get one 50% off. I was hesitant to buy them at all because I KNEW I had coupons at home. Since there was the 50% off sale, I just went for it. I was checked out in the beauty department and the cashier was awesome. When she was done scanning everything, she looked in a stash of coupons to see if she had any that I could use (I didn't even mention a WORD about me having coupons at home). She scanned two which gave me a total of $3 off! Totally unexpected and definitely appreciated!!! Oh, and this location also has the Take Care Clinic which I have frequented a few times in the past...it is a great concept! read more

this review is for the pharmacy department...they get alot of customers here and i don't think it's properly staffed because there are always long lines, both inside and the drive-through...i have to triple check everything before i pick up my prescriptions since they make alot of errors, like substituting to generic brands especially when it's already noted in their system as "no substitutions"...on several occasions, they have processed one item multiple times through my insurance, so then my meds gets denied because insurance thinks i'm re-filling before due date...the staff is always in a rush since they are busy, which makes me nervous since they are dealing with medications. read more

I highly recommend going ANY where else ... let me start first with I handed the nurse my insurance card, prescription card ,and ID so It can be added into the system ( I've never been here before ) the nurse practitioner asked me the same 10 questions 100 times I was with her for almost 45 mins before she finally wrote me a script for antibiotics ... she then proceed to send it to Walgreens ( unfortunately my insurance doesn't work with the Walgreens pharmacy) she sent it there anyways ... last time I checked it's your job to look at my insurance and see where it should get sent to .... ok fine it's a mistake, things happen , wellllll it took her almost 5 hours before she sent it to a pharmacy that I can pick it up .. long story short I'm sick and don't want to be running around all day to get antibiotics .... My daughter had a 4:00 appointment with the health clinic. She arrived 15 minutes early to check in. At 4:25 she was told it would be another 15 minutes. At 4:45 the patient exited and the nurse practitioner's friend (who came after my daughter without an appointment) ran into the room and the practitioner took her leaving my daughter who had an appointment to wait an additional 45 minutes.
