This message is not so much for locals, cuz we know, but to all the seasonal visitors who visit our beautiful area of the Adirondacks. If you have a need for an absolutely awesome submarine sandwich, not slopped together but a creation with excellent bread, deli cold cuts, cheeses and your added extras...GO TO JOE'S MINI MART! You're in a mini market with a satisfying big surprise. I can't stop there either. Their selection, and yes I will dare say HOMESTYLE salad selections are perfect for any picnic or afternoon or evening gathering. Try their soups on an autumn weekend ride. My husband and I stopped here for diesel fuel with our motorhome because of a favorable price. While pleased with the price, compared to other fuel stops, we were far less than pleased with that traffic flow for trucks and RVs of our size. He entered where the sign said, Truck Entrance, avoiding the other lane past the fueling lanes where we saw an 18 wheeler trying to back up, scraping his fender on the light post in the process. Once we entered the "truck entrance" the fueling lanes greeted us with signage facing us stating "WRONG WAY" which was perplexing since we used the "Truck Entrance" and followed the yellow arrow on the blacktop. It was confusing as the arrow and signage directed us in only to be facing wrong way signs at the pumps. That signage was clear. Once my husband used the McDonald's lot to get back to this lot to correctly be facing for fueling the screen at the pumps did not scan. He had to go inside. There is no signage stating such. Another customer at the pump, another motorhome, had had the same experience. I will say, however, the fueling area did appear much better maintained than many we've encountered, but that lack of clear signage for traffic flow, especially given the size of the vehicles using the diesel fuel, truly needs to be rethought.

She rolled her eyes and sighed when I handed her my $10 bill and asked for 2 of the $5 scratchers. I won on the scratchers so I went back in to turn them in and get more. (Who wouldn't?) I had my 1 year old daughter with me and when I handed her the tickets she said "do you see how many people are in line behind you? There's like 5." I said "what does that mean?" She then mumbled something under her breath along the lines of "I don't have time for you right now." ???!!!!! Excuse me? Isn't this your job? After she said that, I guess there's a button or something you press where it goes on speaker and says they need assistance at the front and she pressed it so hard, it was kind of funny. I grabbed my tickets and turned around and told the couple behind me, "she's not in a very good mood." They responded with, "yeah, I see that." And I said "good luck!" I understand customer service sucks sometimes but I was trying to be really nice to her saying "oh! I'm back!" When I handed her the tickets because I thought she was just having a bad day and maybe needed a little pick me up but no. Her attitude was uncalled for. I was telling my friend about my little interaction with her and she said she's seen her there before and her attitude is ridiculous. She knew EXACTLY who I was talking about. How embarrassing having someone like that representing Cumberland Farms. Get rid of her.

This particular location is a few streets away from Broadway in Saratoga, where you will also find yet another Stewart's. This store was clean and well lit. This is the perfect place to stop in when you forget to buy milk or eggs at the grocery store. Stewart's has their own brand of beer too, it's fairly inexpensive and not too bad. A lot of my friends and acquaintances in the area love the ice cream from here, I would give it about 8 out of 10. There are a TON of flavor options!! This is definitely an inexpensive place to pick up a tasty frozen treat for a price that won't break the bank. Good place to take kids and you can use your debit/credit card, some of the mom and pop ice cream stands require you to have cash. You can buy pre-packaged cartons of ice cream or get a cone/sundae. So if you are wandering Saratoga and looking for ice cream, I recommend giving this a try over Cold Stone. You will probably save a few bucks!

I gather they began in Saratoga Springs, NY, and moved into Vermont, as well. We tried this one across the street from the Saratoga Springs Hilton where we stayed, and it was very clean inside (according to my husband who went inside). I had also read they have terrific ice cream, so guess what, we tried some. I stupidly left it up to my husband to "surprise me," and while they are known for amazing flavor choices, and thinking he KNOWS how I like unusual and interesting flavors, he walks out with a mix of vanilla and chocolate. Are you kidding me? It was especially difficult for me to keep my mouth shut because I was pissed off, but he was kind enough to get it for me and bring it out, so I could just wait in the car. I have to say, though, I quickly went from anger at the boring ice cream flavors to extreme enjoyment because it was some of the BEST vanilla and chocolate ice cream I had ever eaten. Truly delicious. I was definitely thinking we'd get some different flavors at other Stewart's Shops in the ensuing days of our travels, but as many as we ended up seeing along our way, we never did stop at any. Don't know why, but we didn't, and so, this was our only time to enjoy their wonderful ice cream !! Next time we are in the area of a Stewart's Shop, I will make sure we can get more ice cream. It's divine.

Stewart's headquarters is nearby in Greenfield, and the Dake family is a big supporter of local groups and activities.
