It's a huge, high-ceilinged, open and airy market with salads, sandwiches, and prepared meals if you're ready to eat right then and there. They also have all kinds of fun jams and condiments and produce and proteins available if you're into cooking at home. If I lived in Saratoga, I'd live at Franklin Square. There is a LONG list of sandwiches to choose from (and you can make your own), but after a detailed and intense discussion with my man behind the counter, I decided to roll with the classic turkey club. WHAT. A. SANDWICH. Piled high on a triple decker with quality turkey, quality bacon, sharp cheddar, all the lettuce and tomato you want, and slathered with plenty of mayo...this thing was made with care and skill, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. When you get a simple sandwich like this and it is this outstanding, you just know everything else they make is going to be excellent. We got a few prepared salads from the deli (the Mexican elote corn salad is a winner) to supplement, and I don't think you can go wrong with anything. Plus, the dude at the deli counter and the lady who checked us out were so nice and helpful in the face of my inane questions. I appreciate that.

While inside, think of a small country store and deli and the picture in your mind is probably correct. Fish bait in a cooler and an aisle of propane for your small grill in one corner and a deli corner in another, this great store has it all. Firewood by the bag is available outside stacked up daily. I got a 12" Italian sub (swapped out turkey for pepperoni) with a side of vinegar and oil, and it was very good and fresh. I'm not sure if they retained the same staff that was working there before but for me it was still the same experience. I got the thoroughbred half sub. This was a fried chicken cutlet with pesto, onion jam, sun-dried tomatoes and a pickle spear on the side. They do give you a choice of a side of olives or a pickle spear. There are drinks in the cooler, different types of chips to choose from and other sorts of treats and goodies all over the place. Definitely a great spot to stop for lunch! The sub overall was very good, but even with all the toppings, it was a little dry. I added garlic, mayo at home, which most assuredly improved the situation. The only thing I didn't like was the coleslaw. The coleslaw didn't come with it. I bought a small container on the side. It was dry and tasteless. I added mayo and spices at home to make it taste more like coleslaw. Problem my only real complaint. I will be back! And I will be asking for a side of garlic mayo, lol.
