There was only one employee working - with two registers open and two lines. I've never seen this before. The employee was working both registers at the same time. While one person's credit card was processing, he'd check out a customer at the other register. Because of this, the lines moved insanely fast. I also ordered pizza, which he had to get from behind the counter, and it didn't slow down the line at all. I was highly impressed by this. The selection of fresh food, pastries and snacks seemed much better than most other Stewart's Shops that I've been to. The counters were clean, everything was organized and had its place, and even the floors were freshly mopped (on a day when snow was melting and everything outside was muddy). The employees here were friendly and seemed happy to be there.

They sell (lots of) chips, soda, beer, news, (lots of) candy, fried chicken wings, nuggets, sandwiches and hard drinks. Broadway market is a tough kind of news and beer spot, tough meaning rough around the outside with not that much of food variety inside. There is ice for sale outside and a pretty large walk-in beer cooler. That said, I also found some pretty good deals on beer and seltzers for near-nothing. The staff kept asking each customer "did you order this pizza?" - "did you order this pizza?" - "did you order this pizza? - "did you order this pizza?" - that was funny. The pharmacy seemed to be the most staffed part of the store, there were more behind the counter than any place else in the store. That's partly because of all the unmanned self-checkout kiosks in the front, somewhat crowded with a lot of other displays, service counters, and devices, many of which had "out of order" signs on them. The dark colored carpet and the dim lights add to the dreariness.
