Oh joy, time to refill my prescriptions at my local Walgreens pharmacy. It used to be a joy back when Molly Keaton Ledford was the well respected pharmacist in Clayton Georgia.
She routinely won the best of awards in The Clayton Tribune local newspaper as our community citizens voted for their favorite pharmacist.
Earlier this year, she finally got disgusted enough that she bolted to the Walmart Pharmacy across town and she took quite a few of her most loyal customers with her. Now going to the local Walgreens is like visiting the dentist to have teeth pulled. Good God I hate trying to get a prescription refilled. I frankly just absolutely dread it.
Just like every 3 months I start getting an avalanche of conflicting text messages telling me my prescriptions are ready for pickup but no they're not ready for pickup but really they're waiting for an authorization no they're out of stock no they're whatever. Add to that phone calls, going through the drive-thru I have dozen times, getting to the front counter in finding out that they have missed some of the prescriptions and they've got others completely wrong. Why is it that every single 3 months it takes five or six visits to finally get which should be a very simple and orderly process into a monumental Trainwreck of a disaster?
In Star Trek the Klingons refer to this process as the ja'chuq ceremony. It is a long and involved tedious process we're very little is accomplished as described by ambassador Kehlar.
There is only one good competent pharmacist left who also is local, Julie is her name but she doesn't have the same friendly cheerful openness that Molly did. Now instead of having two local pharmacists we have a parade of nameless faceless and quite frankly Clueless pharmacists who parade up here from Metro Atlanta. Each one lacking even more answers than the last one, not having relationships with any of our local Physicians or hospitals and most certainly not with any of the customers.
Specifically let's take Manjaro, a very popular medication that my physician writes a 3-month script for, but you only choose to fill one month at a time. Because of that I pay three times the amount of deductibles for this one medication. There are other pharmacies in town that will give me a 90-day Supply. That one drug alone saves me over $35 in copays. Why should I hand the new corporate owners of Walgreens an extra $35 every quarter or a extra $140 every year?
In every measurable way this store is going downhill fast despite some of the wonderful people you still have managing the front part of the store. Why is Walgreens at the corporate level killing its stores? Does anyone up there even care that me, a 35-year loyal customer who gets quite a ton of prescriptions and does an incredible amount of shopping in the store is about to leave and never come back?
These new corporate owners of Walgreens are killing off a once great company. I Am shocked with revulsion at the disintegration of a company that I have stood with and supported with my dollars for such a long time. read more
