After a much needed escape to another town up in the Northeastern Georgian mountain area. I am always scoping out new mountains and seeing if that's the next opportunity to take up. But needed to see to do something different. Popped in the downtown segment of Clayton, I walked the sweet lil shops and stumbled upon this. Mostly it's for hikers, they have a lot of supporting equipment, not as extensive as REI but some. Also their claim to fame are the tee shirts. Which I happily bought and a cap. Staff was incredibly pleasant and friendly. The icing on top of the cake is the library downstairs. If you love to read, they have a series of interesting choices along with some regional history books. Go check this place out. read more

I want to live in this store. Everything you could possibly want for yourself or as a gift for someone else, they will have. Had a ton of stuff in the clearance section marked down to crazy low prices. Such a wide variety of books and kids stuff downstairs as well as really cute eclectic items. I went twice in two days because after the first time I knew there was so much more I wanted to get. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. When they source their items you can tell the thought that is behind each and every single thing and that there is some meaning. They also had a photo booth, how sweet is that! read more

One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever encountered. I also work in Customer Service. I am visiting Clayton for the first time from Arizona. I went into the store and the Manager, I assume greeted everyone but myself. I walked in along with others and began looking around. Even after looking around the store, I was never acknowledged, welcomed or spoken to by any employee. I had found a coupe of items I was thinking of buying to the tune of close to a $100. When I inquired from the young lady at the check out desk about possible additional availability of an item she seemed confused by my question. I was so discouraged by the whole experience, that I left. That is when the Manager spoke and said "Have a nice day as I walked out of the store. Didn't even have the decency to say, "Thanks for stopping in." read more

We are pretty close to Wander, about 20 minutes. We have stopped in multiple times. Great outdoor store! A lot of local goodies. It's a pretty big store, with 2 floors of all sorts of outdoor gear, clothes, camping gear, shoes, bags, etc. Downstairs there is stuff for kids and books as well. We always find something fun in here. Lots of lovely plants inside as well. (Not for sale.) Watch their Instagram for sales!! Everyone that works there is very friendly and helpful. We only wish they would open up a location in Asheville! Wander North Georgia is an amazing business run by amazing people invested in their community. Everything they sell is carefully chosen for quality and design. They go beyond selling though and work hard to use their platform to advocate for responsible backcountry recreation while encouraging people to get outside. Though we are not in Georgia at their physical location often we just ordered our new face masks from them on their website. Shipping was super fast and now we are IN LOVE! Since the pandemic hit we have tried a half dozen masks and these are by FAR the best. The ear loops adjust and there is an air pocket in the front so the fabric is not smashed up against your nose. We can talk to our customers without sounding muffled and almost forget we are wearing them... 100% Obsessed with this shop. Cute shop in downtown clayton that is a must-visit when you are in town for cabin visits. They've expanded the store and now there's a cute little sweets shop in the store. When you walk in, you'll see the cutest plants/succulent, clothing, candles, and more! They do a great job at sourcing local as well as having popular brands like cotapaxi, danner, Patagonia. We spent almost an hour or more in there looking at everything and trying not to spend all of our money. We ended up buying a rug for $39 and a basket from Ghana. read more

We wandered into Wander while wandering the streets of downtown. My wife wanted to enter Wander, and I wondered what Wander was all about. Turns out, it's a wonderful store. They have so many cool items in here to look at, and of course, to buy (or not to buy). One of my favorites was a notepad with Snoop Dogg on the top that had the caption of "Fo' Scribbles." Seriously, who finds these things? I have the Snoop Dogg cookbook at home, and should've bought the notepad too. Staff here was super friendly and I would definitely wander into Wander again in the future. It looks like they also offer axe throwing in the basement, but that was currently closed. read more

I make a special effort to visit this store every time I've traveled to north GA. They always have the neatest items and the staff is so friendly and welcoming. You can ask them about the nearest hiking trails and they can give you so much info about them. I love Wander. There clothes are such great quality. I'd followed this store on IG for a long while and finally got the chance to visit in person last month. Better than I even expected! The store is cozy, but not small, and the warm color tones and lighting are inviting. There is so much to see and browse through and the product offerings are very wide. The book display was unexpected and beautiful. Some of the nicer clothing was pricier than I expected BUT I totally respect the quality of the items and that you're supporting a small business. And the graphic design on their items is fantastic and truly gives that niche feel. The staff was incredibly nice and even humored my busy toddler. I absolutely love this place. WNG is my go-to for gifts because everything they offer is unique and awesome. I've gotten the silicone pint and wine "glasses" for friends with a lake house and they are always getting compliments on them. I have numerous shirts (so soft!) and hats and am always excited when they post new colors. On top of that, WNG has the nicest people and best service. We moved out of state, but I still ordered puzzles for birthday gifts as soon as I saw them hit the website and when they arrived I saw a sweet handwritten note on my receipt. My first (in-person) impression: I finally visited Clayton to come see their store. Without thinking, I realized that I got there late and after closing time. I started window shopping - just peeking in to see what I missed, the workers/owners noticed, and opened the doors. They let me shop around while they closed up shop themselves. All the while still making sure that I was finding everything ok & having a good shopping experience. I've been back several times more with just as awesome experiences. I've visited admiral axe and have purchased several things online. I recommend both! I will forever support this business and their values. They support their small community, north ga, and nature all together. Their customer service is unmatched. Their brick and mortar store is probably the coolest store that I've ever stepped foot in. On my recent trip up to the mountains, I stopped in Clayton to check them out in person. What a cool store and even cooler people! The staff was friendly and made great conversation. They gave us recommendations on where to eat and where to hike with our kids. The store itself had a ton of cool merchandise and I picked up a tank top that was a great material.
