short summary - This place had my Rx "in progress" for 2 days with no communication. I spent 1.5 hours on hold to get an update just to find out they don't have the meds in stock. And my insurance was billed for a Rx that they clearly did not have intentions on filling. Weird. Since I had so much time on hold to write this review, here's the full journey: I sent in my refill request first thing Monday morning via the Walgreens app and had an estimate pick up time for 12pm that same day. Since this Walgreens is near my work, I didn't plan to pick it up until after work hours anyway. By EOD Monday, the Rx still showed "processing." Since this is not the first time that this location has ran late with a Rx of mine, I didn't worry about it. I checked the app all day on Tuesday and still nothing. Slightly annoyed, but not worried much as I was off and wouldn't be in the area to get it that day. It is currently EOD on Wednesday and not only is the Rx not filled, I have not even received an update or a reason why. I called the automated system and all it said was "sorry for the delay." I decided to speak to a live person to 1) see what the delay is, 2) get an estimate time for my Rx, and 3) depending on the answers I received, transfer my Rx somewhere else. The system told me that I had "more than 3" customers ahead of me. It continued to update as my place in line moved up to "only 1 caller ahead". About 30 minutes in, there was a switch in the wait music and it no longer said my place it line and just played hold music. After another hour (Total of 1 hour and 30 minutes of holding) I FINALLY reached a person at the pharmacy. I'd like to note that I switched my pick up location via the app during my hour+ wait because I am simply done with this location. However, I still wanted some type of explanation. The pharmacy rep says that they don't have a Rx request on file (again, understood this since I switched it online). However I informed her that I had the request in for 2 days with no update and asked her to see what progress was made on the previous request. I asked her if they even had the medication in stock so that I could switch it back and have them fill it. This is when - after 3 Days and an hour and a half wait - I was informed that they did not have the medication in stock and weren't even sure when it would be supplied. If I had not called, when would I or my PCP been notified that my medication was not available? Were any alternative brands considered ? (I mean, they've switched my brand of medication on me before without notice). For her to not know when it would be in stock means that they didn't even attempt to request the medication from the supplier. This is not only extremely irresponsible of Walgreens but also very inconsiderate. Luckily, this medication does not mean life or death for me , and I can afford to miss a dose or 2 while I wait for the Rx to be filled, but what about those people that rely on medication for to live? They would literally die trying to depend on this Walgreens. Not informing someone the moment you know that their medication is not in stock prevents them from finding alternatives. Having hold times for over an hour is inconsiderate of your customers' time- especially if the call ends in no resolution and a lack of empathy. This Walgreens needs to step it up or leave our community. This is very negligent of them and I find it funny that I've only experienced terrible Walgreens visits in Black and Brown communities. Not pulling the race card but I'm simply calling it how I see it. Never had this issue when I used the pharmacy in predominantly white neighborhoods. The other reviews are spot on - find a different pharmacy if you can. For those that can't use a different pharmacy for whatever reason, I really pray that things improve so that your health is not impacted by their lack of compassion. read more

This is the worst Walgreens that I've ever been if I could give it a 0---- I would. The people working there are the rudest people I've ever met, you don't even have to ask a question and they give you a look not to approach them. I went to this store this morning and there was maybe 4 people in the store and they where being mean to everyone, not just one employee be all the employees there. Still the worst pharmacy I've have ever experience. You put a prescription in way ahead of time to receive it. And still haven't received it. I put my prescription in two weeks ago and had to re-put it in again and they never have it available. Not to mention you called the pharmacy and after 11 minutes they hang up on you. My nurse practitioner and my insurance company has . both called and received the same.. They will never get better with what they do because they do not care. I also even called the corporate office and they said they couldn't do anything about it. I'm just never going to have my medication sent there ever again!!! this is one of the worst walgreens in the city due to poor pharmacy service. to add to this, they now have an hispanic female pharmacy technician who rings up your prescriptions who appears to have a dislike for black people. i am a black senior citizen with a mobility aid. i went in there today, christmas eve to pick up two heart and blood pressure medications spironolactone and furosemide. i was met with a flippant behavior as this hispanic female tried to tell me the furosemide prescription would be ready at 4pm (five hours from then) and that the spironolactone prescription was not filled due to insurance issues. i told her this could not be possible because i have been taking these prescriptions for years. she said well you are no longer in our pharmacy system so i will have to put you back in - they dropped you. i said how could that be if one prescription is ready? she argued with me that she would need to see my insurance card. i gave her my express scripts prescription card so that she could "put me back into the system". i was sweating bullets due to heart failure and stood there endlessly as she was inputting my card into the system. all it takes is patient name, provider, code, and member id. it didn't appear that she was making any headway so i asked for my card back. she gladly gave it back to me. then she announced i would not be able to retrieve my prescriptions in the future because i am no longer listed. so i gave her my card back, but she would not take it back. instead, she said she no longer wanted to wait on me and that i should see the pharmacy manager because she was done with me. a white male pharmacist came over and looked into the system and said he could have one prescription by 4pm and the other would be available the day after christmas because they would be closed. he said he would call me and asked if i would answer the phone. they were both condescending!!!! how can they both be condescending to a black senior citizen in a black community????? i said yes, i would answer the phone. when i left there the people in line behind me blessed me for what i had been through and wished me a merry christmas. in the meantime, i called the store manager around 11am or after to report this matter and she asked which hispanic female was it because there are two. i did not know. the store manager said she would let the pharmacy manager know about my experience when he comes in again because he was not there today (christmas eve). i am following up on this with an online complaint because i do not think anything will be done. if another black person, who was proactive, and who would not have tolerated this type of abuse had been treated this way by this hispanic female, she would probably have been dragged from behind the counter and subjected to a beating, which she deserved! this is what people are doing today. she was lucky she got me. read more

I approached photo and told the young lady that i was picking up a photo. She didn't even look at me & kept searching for something and said you gotta get in line. I look back at the cashier checkout line which wrapped around the store. Photo has been its own separate check out & to disregard me and not to acknowledge me while I'm asking a question baffles me. This is why I travel to Chinatown's location or suburbs because at the least the employees are accommodating & welcoming. Every time I come for a quick stop, it's never that. I HATE THIS WALGREENS!!! Never, for any reason, ever go here or use this pharmacy. This is the absolute worst pharmacy on earth. There is ALWAYS a problem filling a prescription. They never open on time. And every employee seems to be confused about how a pharmacy works or what its purpose is. This pharmacy is so bad it's offensive. Milove, yes that's this kind lady's name, got out of line while at the register to help me when the rude manager, RENAY was busy talking to the pop guy, and rolling her eyes at me. Turns out Milove works at Walgreens, but was a customer buying products and off duty when she was decent enough to leave the line and showed me exactly where I could find the cocoa butter lip balm. I had seen rude manager RENAY earlier and asked her if she could tell me where I could find the Christmas cards. She rolled her eyes and gestured. I said oh I was almost there. So to locate her near the pop guy, I assume put her over the edge. Rudeness took over and the customer acted with courtesy, not the person who is paid to be courteous. I had walked up and down every aisle in the store looking for cocoa butter lip balm. Even Jermain, the security guard who was starting his first day on the job, tried to help. But RENAY the manager rolled her eyes as the customer yelled I can show you where it is. Milove left the counter where she was in the process of paying for her merchandise, walked me to aisle 2 and showed me the lip balms. I loathe my neighborhood Walgreen's. Although this drugstore is open 24 hours, the service during checkout is horrible. Usually I have my spouse hop in the checkout line while I grab our items. Yes, we have to black Friday shop at this Walgreens. You will find a great deal of their products locked inside these secure shelves. You must page a store associate to grab any of these items. Translation, this equals more time waiting in this store. If you need help looking for an item, forget it. The only help you will find is from the security guard roaming the aisles. If you are truly in need of some help then you will have to wait until you checkout. For the most part the cashier's are pretty helpful at locating things in this store. If I had anymore options I would never return to this Walgreens. read more

Stopped by for prescription at the pharmacy. Line is super long and took like 25 minutes since only 1 lady was working while 2 people in the back filling up prescriptions. I managed to make 3 business phone calls while I waited. The lady pharmacist tech was nice but she took forever and seems unsure or indecisive. She had to ask for help and this other african american man (either her supervisor or pharmacist) seems to be demeaning her. He is also rude to other customers and full of attitude. Maybe he's stressed and working in this neighborhood burns him out but that's still no excuse to be short to people. Listen to other reviewers. Stay away from this store. read more

It's not everyday you review a Walgreens, but the level of customer service I received on my visit was unmatched and unexpected. My fiancé and I visited this store to print pictures for the memorial table at our wedding (not the most fun activity). When we came in we didn't see the photo section and walked around the store looking for it. Britney stopped us to ask if she could help us with anything. She directed us to the photo section, allowed us to use her cord to connect to the printing machine, and made sure are pictures were printed before we left the store. We were extreme grateful for her. The store is clean and the other employees were also helping customers. You can tell there's a positive work environment. This is easily our new go to Walgreens. read more

This is one of the worst Walgreens I've been to. Every time I go here. There's always a long line, because the cashiers move slow, or there's not enough cashiers available. The pharmacy department is even slow. They are very unorganized. They act like they don't know how to do there duties, or know certain procedures. Getting slower, they are open 24 hours and you may just need that to get your script. The post office is faster.

This 5 stars is ONLY for their fresh baked goods, NOT for the rest of the store. It is true that checkout lines can be very slow. BUT They carry a small collection of really amazing cake slices and cookies from Chicago and even Indiana bakeries that you can't find unless you go to each bakery. They are located at the end of the aisle right next to the photo department, and you could easily miss it if you don't know to look. Case in point: Angelica's Bakery: German Chocolate Cake, a big packaged slice for $2.99 or 2 for $5. Delicious! moist, yummy, flavorful. Mrs. Winters Cakes: "Lunchroom Butter Cookies" big and yummy. $2.99 for a package of 4, or 2 packages for $5. Taste great w/a hot cup of tea, IMO. My husband says these cookies taste very similar to cookies that were made in his childhood school lunchroom on the south side of Chicago. Heaven Sent bakery in Gary Indiana: Butter Pecan cookies. Located in the cookie aisle. $6.99 for a white paper bag, smaller cookies, crazy delicious. So worth it. On 4-19-20 I went to Walgreens 35th and King Dr, Chicago IL I purchased $5.00 to my Venta card the cashier had problems adding the money I checked my card the amount was not on my card. I came to shop at this Walgreens about a week ago. They're stealing up there. I used the ATM prior to my purchase. I made a purchase that was around 4.25. I gave the cashier 20.25. She gave me back a 1.00. When I confronted her about it, she claimed I didn't give her a 20 dollar bill. I told her that I just took out 60 out of the ATM and that I only have 40 in my wallet. She continued to deny it, so I told her I'll stand here while she counts her cash drawer. After about 10 minutes of her fumbling with her hands, she decided to finally do something, claiming that she doesn't know why she put 5.75 in as the amount instead of 20.25. I'm from Bronzeville originally, and I am extremely pleased to see that our Walgreens has been remodeled just like the fancy ones downtown, which I have frequented as well. This Walgreens does what every other Walgreens does, essentially. The pharmacy could be better at communicating, however. I was never contacted after my script had been filled, I checked in by chance and it was there. The quick print photo machine does not operate as efficiently as it should and the lines move very slowly. It always seems to be short staffed. But the staff is accommodating and friendly. I greatly appreciate that this Walgreens came up with many of the other ones. read more

The line is always crazy long. Some of the employees have very poor customer service skills, others are extremely friendly and helpful. I never know what I'm going to get. Produce is good. The pharmacy is awful especially when communicating with customers. My brother and his wife lost almost two hours waiting for their flu shots. They were the first to arrive. The pharmacist was not there until 10:45am. The pharmacy assistant/cashier initially stated that shots were not given there since the store was looted. But, after my brother's wife said that she called the day before and was told that she could get a flu shot, the assistant/cashier said, "Why didn't you say 'flu shot'? I can give that". This Walgreens has THE WORST customer service associates I have ever seen at any store let alone any Walgreens. I was in line at 1AM with one other customer ahead of me. The one associate on check out was having a PERSONAL CONVERSATION, she obviously knew the customer checking out. The customer had his receipt and bag in hand and they're just shooting the breeze at 1AM. I approached the register, as I did the cashier informed (VERY RUDELY )me that she wasn't done (having her personal conversation) and that the line started "back there". The other customer got the hint and began to walk away I placed my items on the counter and informed her that I didn't have time for her to have personal conversations at 1AM and that it was unprofessional and rude not only her actions but also the way in which she spoke to me just a moment before. Her response was "Let me get someone else to ring you up, because o don't have to deal with this." At this point I was in disbelief as well as disgusted at the lack of customer service. I had to WAIT for another associate to come to checkout and meanwhile I asked her for her name (I planned on making a formal complaint with her supervisor )since SHE WASNT WEARING A NAMETAG, and she pointed at the Walgreens symbol on her shirt and told me "My name Walgreens " . At this point I was overwhelmed at the way this woman behaved at her job. As the other worker approached (TROY, which happened to be the shift lead) I asked him for the girls name and informed him that she wasn't wearing a name tag which she should have been. TROY showed no concern and refused to give me her name. So I took a picture of her. While I was taking the picture TROY barked at me to finish the transaction, which wasn't even ready to be completed since he hasn't pressed the proper prompts on the screen. When I got home, after waiting 10 minutes on hold I asked to speak with a manager, low and behold Troy gets on the phone. I expressed that I asked to speak with a manager not a SHIFT LEAD who obviously has some sort of relationship with this girl. He insisted he was the manager, I asked what manager is ok with his employees behaving the way that this girl did, he told me very uninterested, that he didn't know what happened. I told him he didn't ask either, the conversation went nowhere and the girl obviously won't be reprimanded so I asked for the name of the store manager, of course he wouldn't give it to me. As usual I had to wait 10-15 minutes for someone to come to the aisle and unlock a product for me. I have a disability and have trouble standing for extended periods of time. Also, I never located a call button in aisle 20 to summon for assistance. One of the managers happened to come into my aisle but she refused to help me and told me someone else would be coming, I had to call the store three times and threaten to call the corporate office before someone finally came to the aisle. When the employee did arrive, he never apologized for my wait and barely even greeted me. Either hire more staff or get new employees who know how to provide great customer service skills. I stopped by this store on Christmas Eve early in the morning before work around 0500 hours. I live two blocks from here and I come in here so much because its always open. Last week I stopped by the store to purchase discounted wrapping paper and two gift cards for Whole Foods and Home Depot. This particular morning on Christmas Eve, I decided to go back there and buy another gift card. I have always been aware that customers can't use a credit card to purchase Visa, American Express, Mastercard debit cards, and other major credit card gift cards, but I have always been able to use a credit card to purchase gift cards for Old Navy, Whole Foods, Macy.s, I Tunes, Facebook, Dunkin Doughnuts, Starbucks and etc. Since someone at work had given me a gift, this was the perfect opportunity to give them a gift card especially those that do not require a 5.95 cent extra charge for the card. The young lady at the counter insisted that I had no knowledge of what I spoke on. She told me (without going a get a manager) that you can't use a credit card to buy a gift card. I told her "no, you can't use a credit card to purchase a major credit card gift card" and then I asked her to check. She insisted that those were the rules and I told her "well ok, thanks you" and walked out. I then took my money to another pharmacy. I purchased a Macy.s gift card. I paid with my credit card Visa and that was that. Then I went to Jewel Food Store. I purchased another Victoria Secret gift card. I paid with my Visa, walked out the store and that was that. What is really funny is online, you can use your credit card to buy any gift card you want, from any store you want except you can't purchase Visa, American Express, Mastercard, and any other major credit card gift card. Why Walgreens staff are not all aware of this is a mystery to me, but it should not be different for one store and then another procedure for another store. Everybody should be on the same page. I was pissed off, it was bitter cold in Chicago and good thing the competition was open 24 hours too. They had no problem taking my money. read more

The Good: 1. Open 24 Hours 2. If milk consumption is high in your family then this is the place you get Dean's milk atleast a $ less than Jewel Osco 3. Usually u will find security folks roaming around this place in late night. Bad: 1. Takes awful long at the register 2. I hate that the service is so slow. The lines be long as hell and they have the audacity to only have 1 or 2 lines open. The staff will sometimes be right near the cash registers but will continue on into their break room. The line is long as hell and they see that but they keep going into the break room instead of opening a register up to get the line down. This never happens at the Walgreens in the Caucasian neighborhoods or the Latino neighborhoods. Even the Walgreens in China Town doesn't have this problem. read more

Very SLOW. Lines are abnormally long. I only use this Walgreens because it is close by. People there can be friendly sometimes. But the service is still slow. One time, I waiting on line for 20-30 to just pick up something from pharmacy. Another time I waited for 20 minutes to buy a bag of chips and a bottle of soda. Only 2-3 cashiers are opened at a time, even when it's really busy. What I do like is that it's big, bright, and somewhat organized. I can always find my way and things I need easily. Hope to see they speed things up a little though. read more
