Their new cashier told me the wrong isle for an item (I was helping a senior shop). Then the senior waited in line to buy cigarettes while I waited by the door, the same cashier made everyone wait in line while he walked over to me and asked for an ID. I am visibly in my 40s and I actually don't even smoke. So I took my sweet time going to the car to get it. Since he likes to waste everyone's time, then I'll waste his. The senior wasn't buying cigarettes for anyone but himself. I felt harassed and bothered by this cashier. I wasn't up purchasing this item with the customer, I'm nearly the driver. But that's how Walgreens has their policies for employees to be able to harass customers. I will no longer be taking my senior to Walgreens again. I was able to obtain my second booster Covid shot from this location. The location is very convenient to public transportation. The pharmacy is towards the back of the store. The Pharmacist was friendly and professional regarding the shot. I was out of the store within 15-20 minutes. Nothing to complain about this Walgreens. I would go back, if I needed to. read more

The most incompetent pharmacy ever. I base this on having used the CVS pharmacy near Lincoln and Irving Park for many years. They rarely,if ever messed up my prescriptions, and always had them ready when they notified me that they were ready. Contrast that with the imbeciles I've been dealing with at the Walgreens pharmacy at Irving Park and Sheridan Rd. They have not been able to deliver my medications when ordered in a timely manner - even when they have notified me they are ready, they are not ready. They claim to communicate with my doctor [earlier this week, Jason- one of their pharmacist claimed he contacted my doctor three times to confirm a refill. My doctor had never heard from him. Who was Jason calling? Who knows. This pharmacy is a mess. I only use them because that is what BCBS of Illinois covers. I hate to ponder that the fate of distributing COVID 19 Vaccines are in the hands of these incompetent individuals. I feel a little empathy for Sung, the poor pharmacist on duty, who now has to scramble to fill my prescriptions, because his work mate Jason dropped the ball. But only a little empathy, as you will see by the other Yelp reviews that I am one of many that say this is the worst managed pharmacy we have ever encountered. Update, as I was going to pick up my prescriptions, I checked them and lo and behold - my conversation with Jason wasn't followed on one of the medications....he hadnt documented a change from 45 pills at x dosage, to 90 pills at x/2 dosage. *Edit* I found out from the pharmacist I saw the next morning that Gabapentin is potentially facing heavy regulation, so I guess some of his suspicion makes sense, however, I could have used that knowledge. I have prescriptions for other medications that are much more prone to people abusing them, so I was kinda shocked that he chose Gabapentin as the one to be suspicious of, due in part to lack of knowledge on my end. Granted, walking away from a customer who's trying to avoid having a seizure is still wild to me. I went today, due to issues with refilling my Gabapentin prescription, which would put me in danger of having a seizure if i detoxed from. The pharmacist was difficult to work with right off the bat, as I just started seeing a new psychiatrist today, and the last prescription on file was written by a different doctor. The pharmacist sternly told me he would only call one of the two doctors, so I had to choose one or the other. I then received a text from the new psychiatrist with screenshots saying the prescription wouldn't go through, because I was filling it five days early. The pharmacist then accused me of having taken more Gabapentin than prescribed on purpose, and if you've ever taken Gabapentin, you'll probably find the concept of abusing this particular medication amusing. It's almost as ridiculous as accusing someone of abusing Tylenol. He then told me that he wouldn't help me, because I couldn't remember what happened to that 5 days of medication, and all I could say is I probably lost it. I then started to get freaked out, and asked him, "what do I do? I can have a seizure from detoxing from this medication." At which point he stood up and walked away without saying another word. He could have at least referred me to the emergency room. Apparently the pharmacist doesn't know medications well enough to understand that there is literally no way to get high off of Gabapentin, and is totally cool with clients having seizures. Would recommend avoiding this pharmacy at all costs. I've never had this sort of issue with Walgreens, before, and I've been using them for 16 plus years, and I've honestly never been more insulted by medical staff, outside of bonafide cases of malpractice. read more

As a previous employee of Walgreens, this one astounds me in the worst way. Absolute worst customer service you can imagine. Typically a line, a long line. Even when someone finally comes to help, they move without purpose. I say hello, they don't speak. I say thank you, they don't speak. Completely impolite, with an annoyed disposition. I have been here tons and not once have they ever filled or refilled a basic prescription without issue. The automated refills and reminders are chaos. Random notes get added to my account saying I requested specific brands when I don't care. Month after month, promises that they fixed things that happen again the next month. The wait times are a pain. I've switched to Capsule so I don't have to deal with multiple visits and phone calls every month to refill my recurring prescriptions. read more

When I finally got up to the front, the pharmacist told me he couldn't process my good rx coupon which would save me $50, I had to wait an additional 20 minutes. Went to fill a prescription (pretty common thing they do there) asked specifically if they had the med in stock before I waited a half hour, pharmacist goes to look and says yes we have plenty. Sit for 30 minutes and get called up to the counter by a surfer looking pharmacist, tells me "we only have 105 of the 150 sorry you'll have to go somewhere else" I said to him "I asked and was told you had enough to fill the script" he looks at me and says "I dunno who told you but we don't, do you'll have to go somewhere else" I figured basic math is a founding skill needed to be a pharmacy tech or pharmacist. Evidently it's a skill lost. Horrible customer service and having to sit for 30 minutes in chronic pain waiting on a non existent order is adding insult to injury. The pharmacy and their techs at this location are total jerks, a prescription was sent by my doctor 45 minutes prior and they didn't want to fill it because they closed in 15 minutes by the time I got there. Making a person with bronchitis travel in 5 degree weather and snow 2 miles away... some "doctors". *Follow Up* the other Walgreens I went to had it filled WITHIN 12 minutes of me handing them my prescription AND updating my insurance. Got to the store and was shopping when noticed two employees were following me around the store. They rudely told me the store was closing and wouldn't let me finish shopping. The staff in the front of house is great, but the pharmacy has got to be the worst in Chicago. Whether it's the long wait, the demeaning attitudes, or the messed up prescriptions it seems they fail at every phase. Several times I have been to get a refill only for them to provide me with the wrong drugs. Drugs I haven't taken for months. When I return they're gruff and impatient with me as if I don't know what I'm supposed to be taking. Frequently, I'll drop off the script the day before and when I return the next day, still have to wait for it to be filled. In these circumstances they act like they're doing me a "favor" by rushing out the meds even though they've had the order for 24 hours. What makes it worse is that these aren't rare drugs. They're very common prescriptions that millions of people take. If they ever acted like they were sorry or admitted that an error had been made it might take some of the sting off. Frequently they're belittling, impatient, rude and angry. This pharmacy might as well not exist for all the harm they cause. read more

Had to switch to Walgreens earlier this year when BCBS and CVS decided to be asshats to each other. To be clear I can only speak of my experience with this location. Can't say my experience here has been good. My medication has been incorrectly filled every time, but once. I do not receive text alerts when medicine is ready even though I have attempted to rectify the issue multiple times. Lastly, seems that this location is constantly understaffed. The saving grace for this location is the staff. Obviously good people working hard to keep up with the constant flow of customers. read more

I only give this Walgreens 3 Stars because the staff are VERY helpful & friendly. But, the pharmacy is AWFUL!! Most of the techs or assistants, who work the counter are friendly & appear to do the best they can. However, the pharmacists are ridiculous & bordering on incompetent, leading in 1 instance to me getting my meds, after SURGERY, 4 hours late. He told me my pain meds were not to be taken with another med I was taking, which I quit taking, under my Dr's & surgeon's instructions DAYS before. I literally came in on crutches WITH my discharge papers, from the surgery center & he still refused to fill the prescription -- as though my Dr, nurses & surgeon may have missed something !!! I understand pain meds are controversial now (all 20 I was prescribed & stopped, when they were no longer necessary). But, it wasn't as though my file hadn't been thoroughly evaluated before I got to the pharmacy. The pharmacist said he would not give me my meds, I was supposed to take immediately until he spoke to both of the prescribing Drs, one of which was in another surgery. The pharmacist refused to speak to ANYONE else in his office, except the surgeon. Needless to say, both Dr's were incensed & told me, they would be reporting him as well. In the end, it was a few hours of excruciating pain. I'm over it; but every time I walk in there now & see him, he goes out of his way to be rude or make me wait. I've tried switching to CVS, which is closer to my house, but they no longer take my insurance. Besides, I do feel loyal to Walgreens. I lived downtown for 20 years & NEVER had a problem with the Michigan Ave store, that I guess is quite a bit busier & deals with MANY more patients. Someone at Walgreens needs to do SOMETHING about these pharmacists. read more

Nightmare! Zero customer service. Manager is ignorant and rude and stupid! I ordered photos online and 8 hours later when I came to the photo counter to pick them up I was informed by rude manager Michelle to stand in regular checkout line to pick up my photos (solid 25 minutes - 1 person working and snake looking line to check out). When I finally got to the register I was informed (by the same person, who made me stand in line for photos) that their photo machine was broken since morning (the entire day) and no photos were printed. No email, no phone call from the store and my confirmation email was showing photos ready in 1 hour! And the manager (the same person who operates the photo department), who made me stand in line and waste close to 30 min didn't even apologize. Quite not sure if she was ignorant or just stupid. Every time I order pictures from this location, there is ALWAYS something wrong. Today the pictures were not ready even though I had received a confirmation email yesterday that they were. The staff was less than helpful to say the least. Huge inconvenience that I now need to return to this horrible store another time to get the pictures. Wow I have been shopping and filling prescriptions here for 3 years and everything has been great until today. The new pharmacy tech had some trouble with the system and called Tiffany the shift manager (bright blue and purple hair) up to assist. She repeatedly ignored my questions, rolled her eyes at me and muttered "dumb bitch" under her breath loud enough that the woman behind me was already on the phone with customer service about it before the end of my transaction. Tiffany eventually just walked off in the middle of a calm conversation because she just could not be bothered with helping a customer? I am shocked I don't know what I possibly could have done to cause her to react this way. read more

This is definitely one of the better Walgreens locations. Always clean, the shelves are well stocked, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Even the pharmacy is relatively quick about their business which is always a plus. The front register is quick to call up additional cashiers if the line gets too long and the staff is generally on top of things. read more

I love this Walgreens. Super convenient location and hours. All of the employees are nice to me, which I cannot say for other locations. One of the pharmacy techs helped me tremendously by looking up a discount on a medication that cost $250. After discount, it was $15! They get busy in the late afternoon due to their proximity to the train station, but they usually have 3 cashiers, so the line moves fast. On my way back now to pick up meds! read more
