This should be a five star Walgreens. The inventory and space are fantastic. Tons of food and self-care options, a quick check out line. I like the high ceilings and find that everything is very well organized. Parking is super easy. However, there are often some people sitting right by the parking spots, after dark, making inquiries. I don't know what the store could do about this, if anything, but it does concern this young woman. The pharmacy here is ok, but seems to take a long time to fulfill my prescriptions. read more

This pharmacy has by far been one of the worse experiences. I have experienced delays on my refills nearly monthly. I am never given any updates and when I call to follow up, as I've been instructed to do by staff, I am almost always given various reasons on why my medications are continously delayed. Their poor handling and unprofessionalism have caused me to actually run out of my medication on several occasions in the 6 months that I have been using them. read more

The pharmacy filled the wrong prescription I realized, when I got home; $102 charged on my Amex. Today, I went back with whats left of my original prescription and showed them they gave me something else. A large confrontational woman from the back emerged and told me I intentionally gave them the wrong RX number. I showed her the original box with the same Rx number but a different box had been given me. She told me it was against the law to exchange the prescription once I paid for it (though I never touched the box.) She began yelling at me "are you deaf?" Then she yelled "call the police she's committed assault," when I shoved the tiny paper box across the counter. Finally, the actual pharmacist came out and told me they had filled it, but in a pill form and that it was 'mostly' the same. I asked why they hadn't said that in the first place--I would take the (wrong) prescription anyway. But the aggressive woman insisted I could not have it back! Finally the actual pharmacist handed it to me as three of them yelled insults while acting like they were calling the police. I am 5'8" and weigh 125 pounds. Actually bizarre. Never seen anything like this anywhere and I've never had any encounter with police other than a speed ticket on I 40 two years ago. I do believe this was a racial incident--because I'm white--because I misunderstood they filled it in another form without telling me--not what my doctor prescribed. I will never return --I'm actually thinking of filing suit. Is it legal to insult a deaf person that way--though i'm not deaf--still..... One lady at the pharmacy turned me away at 6:01 when I was in the store shopping not realizing they closed at 6 and as she was closing the gate I asked her if I could please get my medications before she closed and she said "no. It's 6:01, we're closed" like ma'am. It's one minute, and I'm already here. Terrible terrible customer service and very rude of her quite frankly when it involves MEDICATIONS. read more

The bad reviews for this place are well-earned. There is always a long line at the register, and the pharmacy has unbelievably long waits. Today they said "we'll have your order out if you can wait a few minutes" which turned out to be 35+ minutes. If there's a long wait, let people know so they can come back later instead of telling them something untrue. One slip-up's understandable but it's consistently bad here. read more

This location is right across the way from my job so bonus points for the convenience factor! I absolutely love their candy section - lots more variety than their competitors in the area! The store is pretty neat and clean; everything seems to be arranged so that things are easy to find. I really appreciate the sales Walgreens have and most importantly, the staff is always so warm and I'm greeted with smiles ! Despite sometimes things being a little overpriced, I still prefer Walgreens over Walmart. I like bein able to run in and out without wasting a lot of time. Update: I frequent here weekly it seems. Walgreens pharmacy is THE WORST. It was once pretty good but now the business model is such that it makes it impossible to trust them. Not enough pharmacists and the techs are incompetent. The most recent examples are: 1) they didn't fully fill a prescription ( 2 months of epilepsy pills instead of three months) and when they looked into it, told me that there was no way to confirm because the computer camera from that day wasn't working; and then 2) didn't reverse a prescription that wasn't picked up so I had to spend 1 hour on the phone with the insurance company to remedy their incompetence when I attempted to pick it up at a later date. They have caused me so much time and money lately that I can't possibly use them anymore. We now use CVS and the difference in customer service is night and day. Do yourself a favor, go with a local pharmacy if possible. We can't because our insurance doesn't have them on the approved provider list. read more

I called and confirmed that they received the prescription from my physician. They said on the phone that it would ready in 20-30 minutes. I arrived to pick it up about an hour later expecting it to be ready as they indicated. I waited 12 minutes in line to tell them I was there. They got my information and told me to be seated. 1 hour later they handed me my prescription. The phone information was not accurate. read more

CVS down the street didn't have exactly what I wanted so instead of settling, I asked myself, "Why not check out that semi-new Walgreens?" Yes, let's! In stark contrast to that particular CVS, this Walgreens features high ceilings and concrete floors, going for more of a clean, modern warehouse feel. I was able to find what I needed quickly enough. Plus I found something that I sorta needed but not urgently on sale, score! The friendly cashier lady complimented my reusable bag. I'm sold on this place. One downside is that the entrance to the parking lot is kinda tight, so be careful turning in. read more

This is for Walgreens on Clairmont Rd., Birmingham, AL The worst pharmacy I've ever gone to. The rudest staff EVER, and they get things wrong every time I used them. I will tell everyone I know who needs a good pharmacy, I will say whatever you do, don't go to this Walgreens. It must be managed by incredibly incompetent people. The Walgreens on Montclair Rd. is good. And at the end of this review, you have written "You're rolling now - got any more to add?". I left this pharmacy last week after being a loyal customer for close to 3 years. This is because they are always out of at least one of my medications when I refill monthly and I'm sick of it. The app says they will notify me when the medication is delivered, but I always have to call. When I was completely out, they offered no apology, basic empathy, or recommendations on what to do. It's Saturday night and you just had a great day with your friends as a visitor in the beautiful, welcoming city of Birmingham and you decide to take a quick trip to you local friendly Walgreens to grab a few pints of ice cream to wind down and relax. After pulling up into a spot with your 6 friends and strolling up the the closed door, you are quickly greeted by Jasmine, the closing shift employee who informs you, "Our clock says TEN." We say, right, you close at 10, and it's 9:55. Three of us pulled out our iPhones and showed her the clearly visual, 9:55 CST of day. "Our clock says TEEN", with a smirky grin on her face. She KNEW it wasn't "TIIN". It was actually 9:55 and continued to refuse us service after patiently informing her of the factual time of day. She let us know that we can contact her manager. It's your typical drugstore, but it is in a very convenient location downtown. We have stopped by here several times, and never had any issues. Even when it was full of people, the lines moved quickly. The staff we dealt with were very friendly and knowledgeable. Plenty of parking, and it is well lit at night as well. read more

I am so fired up right now over this Walgreens Pharmacy. I had to switch from CVS across the street (never had a problem there) to Walgreens because of insurance. CVS you walk in, grab your prescription, and leave. Every time I go in here it is a completely atrocious, time consuming and stressful disaster. Everyone in line has issues. They cannot get my name, address, and phone number straight in their system although I have corrected it 6 times. The other day I spent 30 minutes at the pharmacy to get two prescriptions which were supposed to be ready, and they 'couldn't find' one of them. Had to go back to work so I told them I'd come back. I again corrected my phone number and address in their system and was told by a young male pharmacy tech that he would straighten out my contact information. I received a phone call from my father who I have not lived with in ten years since high school telling me that Walgreens Pharmacy called him to let him know my prescription is ready. They still did not have my contact information straight after I had corrected it again the day before! This seems to be against HIPAA laws in my opinion. It is a total violation of my health information privacy, especially after I have spent so much time correcting them in order for this not to happen! When you're dealing with sick people, don't grossly underestimate wait times. A 15 minute wait shouldn't turn into an hour.

Always a nice clean reliable Walgreens. This location is well stocked and is rarely out of any products. Has a decent range of groceries, homeward products, healthcare products and gifts. The staff are always friendly and willing to help. Decent specials on from time to time as well. Only little complaint is that the line for the pharmacy builds up and there isn't an apparent solution. read more

The pharmacy needs to investigated by the Board. They are always out of medication! I saw an elderly woman who was unable to get her meds because they "forgot to order it". Personally, I consistently have problems with refills because they are too incompetent to recognize their stock levels. When the pharmacist takes the last pill out of the bottle s/he should order more! It's common sense. Quite frankly, I'm afraid to allow these stupid people to handle my medications anymore. I'm a big fan of this Walgreens. Besides being conveniently located between downtown and Avondale, it is also very clean with friendly staff. I have never used the drive through, but the pharmacy line inside is usually pretty short. The staff of both the pharmacy and the store itself have always been very helpful. Also, they do photo printing and passport photos as this location as well. This is my go-to place for prescription refills, birthday cards, shampoo, nail polish, and photo printing. read more

Jennifer was so kind to me and assisted me with what to buy, pointing out several different options. This Walgreens has been my goto location for the past 2 years for most of my non-food shopping and today is the last time I will give them ANY of my time or money. The store staff is fine but the pharmacy is atrocious. After waiting for an hour in line to get some over the counter cold medicine, another patron busts to the front of the line and gets service in front of the rest that were patiently waiting. If all you have to be is that guy to get service, then go to this Walgreens.
