No clue where this CVS gets its stock from, but this is the second time I have purchased something from here that was rotten, rancid, and a waste of money. The first was a year ago when I got a protein shake that had chunks in it. Today I got a pack of sour patch gummies that smelled like vomit and looked like erasers. Both were labeled as not having yet expired. I've gone here out of pure convenience throughout the past five years due to being a student/working at UAB, NEVER coming again. read more

This is my normal place for picking up prescriptions, but I think I will be changing soon.While it's convenient to my place of employment, the last two times I've come to pick up my prescription (after getting a text confirmation that the prescription was ready) I've had to wait 15+ minutes for them to fill the prescription. I have a soft spot for this CVS since there is a pharmacist lady there who always tells me how young I look. That never gets old. Haha, I kill me. Anyway, as a general rule, I try not to visit drugstores too much but if I ever need anything of the medical/health variety urgently, CVS works pretty well. This location is convenient to UAB, Five Points, and I-65. The employees working the front registers often say hi and look cheerful. The pharmacy area is a little cramped but what can you do. Arrived at 8:53 PM on Saturday. Posted hours online and on the storefront say they close at 9 PM. Doors were locked, gate was halfway down. Knocked on door twice, was finally met by two employees informing me they were "closed" despite their presence at the store and with no further explanation whatsoever. Atrocious employees and atrocious customer service. Avoid this location at all costs. read more

Another gift card from another CVS, there were some problem with it at the register bu the gal eventually got it done. The store was nicely laid out, the parking lot was small. The outside "CVS" neon light was not lit after dark, leaving the parking lot quite dark. read more

While at a workshop at UAB, I ended up coming here a few times. It's a fairly convenient location, and was easy to find. The area seems like it could be a bit questionable, but I didn't run into any issues. They sell typical CVS products, nothing remarkable or different. I scraped my leg and bought a bunch of first aid stuff, and I somehow overwhelmed the cashier with my half-filled basket- maybe people typically don't make larger purchases at this location. The only frustrating part was that this location closes at 8pm- I wanted to come after dinner and it was tight timing to get here in time. read more

This Southside location of CVS is well-stocked and taken care of. I've had multiple experiences with the pharmacy and they've always gone above and beyond to help me with my prescriptions. My only critique of this store is that the cashiers at front checkout can sometimes be really rude. read more

As a UAB student I always go to this locations pharmacy because it's on campus, and the woman I typically interact with is WONDERFUL the sweetest woman. However when I called to refill my prescription this morning, a woman named Carol answered the phone being extremely rude. Customer Service here is normally outstanding. She questioned why I needed my medication so early in the morning (I always go to the pharmacy when I go to class in the morning) and repetitively forgot and would disregard different medicines I asked her to fill. 45 minute wait....only to have two people called ahead of me as I'm finally approaching the counter, as well as an older gentlemen feel the need to cut in front of me in line. The store is generally clean but I have found some of the staff especially Pharmacy staff to be rude. There is one blonde, female pharmacist there who is especially catty and rude. Also she lacks the professionalism I have seen in other pharmacists. One major issue I have with this location is there have been six times in the past year I have requested to use their bathroom. Each time I have been given a different creative excuse. The first time I was told the bathroom was broken. The second time a month or so later I was told the bathroom was broken. When I asked still? I was told "yes, still". The list of excuses just gets more creative. The last time I was told by Ladeana, the manager on duty that the bathroom was "blocked" whatever the heck that means. I understand that there is a problem in the area with drug use and that can be a problem in public bathrooms, however when I have just dropped off prescriptions to be filled and I'm waiting for them that should be a positive indicator that I did not come there to shoot up in their bathroom. Several of the times I was directed to the bathroom across the street at the Kangaroo Station. It should not be the role of neighboring businesses to provide a bathroom for CVS. customers. This is a business that makes its money selling drugs to sick people. Sometimes sick people need to use the restroom. All four major competitors in the area have customer bathrooms. This is not an unreasonable expectation. Some of the staff are quite nice and friendly, but there have been several times when I've had a question and the staff did not seem knowledgeable or frankly very bright. In general the store is clean and pretty well organized, but does not have nearly the space or product selection of any of their nearby competitors. I do not recommend this Pharmacy unless you just have no place else to go and really need something and can't make it to another store. Also be mindful of your surroundings. There are many homeless and or mentally ill people in the area and some super sketchy people will come in from time to time. Keep a very close eye on your handbag when you are in this store. Panhandlers are often encountered in the parking lot. There is no security in this high crime area. read more

I have been so frustrated with this pharmacy. While everyone has been nice, I have now been out of my medicine for nearly two weeks because of them telling me the wrong thing. First, I was told that they can't fill my prescription because it was written in a 10-day supply rather than a 30-day supply. So my doctor changed that. Then, I still never hear from CVS, so I go back. They tell me there's another problem they'll have to work on tomorrow. I got a text that night asking to confirm my insurance (new from a new job) and then another text in the morning from CVS saying they filled my prescription. So I go back in again. Now, I'm told (even though the text said differently) that CVS does not accept my BCBS insurance. I don't know why that wasn't explained to me originally rather than taking a week of them looking at my insurance and telling me different things! When I finally got Walgreens to get my prescriptions, they were put on hold for over 30 mins by CVS and could not reach a pharmacist to get me my medicine that night. I really want to like this CVS, but this has been too much. I shouldn't be out of my medicine for this long. read more
