Didn't know I was interrupting a party going on in the pharmacy today when I came in to pickup allergy medicine. I rarely go to Walgreens, but we needed medicine quickly because my husband and son's allergies are kicking out bad and they don't feel well. Four people were behind the counter laughing or walking aimlessly in front of me while I waited patiently for assistance. Instead, one cashier helped a lady in front of me and I continue to wait, hoping somebody would have good customer service. I spoke up and had to say "can someone help me, there's four of you and two of us" to which I got dirty glares, turned backs and no response. The man walked up to help me checkout and when I asked a question, none of them answers. Hate to see people, but you're at work. This isn't a party. Then the front desk cashier did the same stuff. Well, today was the last day I will ever step foot in this Walgreens. I have lived in Barrington for over 13 years and usually toggle between CVS and Walgreens on US 14. MARK MY WORD, I will NEVER shop here again. The two absolute inept individuals working (male employees) between the hours of 4:30 and 6:00pm on 9/23/2004 were so rude and disrespectful! One of them kept peeping and following me to every aisle I went to. They were joking and being loud in the aisles, laughing, very unprofessionally and then I was walking down one aisle and moved to left to let them walk on the right and they almost ran me over on my side and they looked me dead in my eyes as they walked in front of me laughing. Not only that, the one guy who kept following me RUNS after me as I'm heading to the checkout, DOESN'T say one word to me, begins checking me out and rudely stares at me. The only thing he asked was did I want a bag for my items. I said, "Yes." Then continues staring at me rudely and watches me put my pin in and then stares at the screen and goes..."Hmm. Well, that's odd." I said, "What's odd?" He goes, "OH. NOTHING!" And starts laughing. What the heck? And here's the thing. I've seen these two individuals before and they are always weird, lacking manners and rude to customers. They NEVER speak and say hello, greet you, or smile. Every time I've seen them, they act as though you are a bother for them, to be in the store. Imagine that! Today, I finally decided to write about it. Walgreens in Barrington on US 14, you may not miss my money, maybe you will, but this location will NEVER get another red cent from me! And after reading the other comments others have made about rude customer service, I see I'm not the only one. I also see there's some comments about discrimination and now I have to wonder...has that been the case for me, as well, or are they just jerks to everyone? Frankly, I don't trust that you'll do anything about it because for the last few years, you always manage to find and hire the oddest, strangest people to work in this location. I got a text that my medication was ready for pick up on 11/12 and 11/13. On 11/13 is the last day to pick it up. When I got to Walgreens, they couldn't find it. I had to wait another 30 minutes. Get your act together. read more

Rudest staff I've ever encountered. The small lady always at the cashier just gave up and called her manager a girl with classes who cared even less during my issue, cashier refused to look at me or even respond to my inquires. I saw two other reviews about discriminatory and lazy workers and I can attest to this. DISCRIMINATORY Treatment and RACIAL PROFILING at Walgreens - Barrington, IL As a loyal customer of Walgreens, I am deeply disappointed by the discriminatory treatment I recently experienced at the Barrington, Illinois location. I visited the Barrington Walgreens to exchange a purchase, and to my shock, I was racially profiled and refused the exchange despite providing clear proof of purchase. What's more troubling is that I have successfully conducted the same exchange at three other Walgreens locations in less affluent areas without any issue. The blatant discrimination I faced at the Barrington store is unacceptable and tarnishes the reputation of the entire company. This incident left me feeling humiliated and discriminated against. It's disheartening to realize that even in this day and age, racial profiling continues to be a problem in retail environments. As a customer who has consistently supported Walgreens, I expected better treatment and respect. I urge Walgreens management to take immediate action to address this issue of racial profiling and discrimination within their stores located in even the snobbiest of towns. Proper training must be provided to all staff members to ensure that every customer is treated fairly and respectfully, regardless of their race or ethnicity. I also expect accountability from the management team at the Barrington location for their failure to uphold the values of equality and inclusivity. Either you can do this at all the Walgreens or none... this is NO COINCIDENCE! I hope that by sharing my experience, Walgreens will take proactive steps to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. Discrimination has no place in any establishment, and it's crucial for companies like Walgreens to uphold the highest standards of customer service and inclusivity. My grandparents had to deal with this in the 1950's why am I being made to jump through the same hoops of fire? Simply because of your area code? Not acceptable. CVS would never! Amanda in pharmacy was very helpful, friendly and professional. Virtually no wait time when I called in for mom's RX.

Since I started filling out the surveys at the bottoms of my receipts (and making my boyfriend do the same), there seems to be a complete management turnaround at this store. I no longer see any of the old managers here - they have all been replaced. The impact on the store is noticeable. Everyone seems friendly, and I no longer see gaggles of people outside smoking. There is one of the managers (a new one, 5"5' or so, with shoulder length, medium brown hair) was outside smoking when I was there at 9:45pm within the last week (the poor clerk had to keep calling for someone 21 and older to ring up the alcohol), and based off a conversation with my boyfriend, the same situation with the same manager happened on another occasion. I've also had a number of experiences with the pharmacy since my last review. The pharmacy staff here is THE BEST! 5 stars. I had Lasik last week, and there was a problem between my insurance and the coupons for the eye drops the surgeon had given me. The morning of my surgery (I'd been given the coupons and Rx the day before), the pharmacist took care of me - calling and verifying my insurance info with the company, and then personally calling each manufacturer in order to save me a ton of money (from $300 down to $50). They definitely went the extra mile and I'm SO grateful. We had to leave to get to the surgery on time, and she was still on hold, so they gave me the Rx at the discounted price so I could be on time, and said she's call me if there was a problem. The pharmacist was an older (50ish) woman with shoulder length curvy hair. She needs a raise. It's nice to be reassured that Walgreens is taking care of the problem staff at this location. I just wish that customers weren't sacrificed because of a particular manger's routine need for cigarette breaks (when there aren't enough staff to handle said break). read more

Obviously, this pharmacy is understaffed. It's not the staff's fault that response is delayed.

Unfortunately, I can not give negative stars. If I would, I could. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Absolute joke. You could be dying and need a medicine and they would tell you that it's delayed. Medication is never ever delivered on time. Bought an Amazon gift card. When I went to peel the sticker on the back, some of the numbers were scratched off. I asked the cashier for assistance. She told me to try to put the scratched part back on. Pharmacy is even worse. Pharmacist almost pinched my hand in drive thru. If you try to go to the pharmacy inside, they are some of rudest people ever. Please don't go here if you are considering it. You'll save a lot of trouble picking CVS or another pharmacy. read more

I have been a customer since the store opened (post-1974). I have purchased many; things there. In the past, when I requested photo service, it was done for me. Today I wanted to copy, eenlarge, reduce size, multi-copying of 13 pictures. I was told by the clerk, "We don't do that anymore." I said, "Fine, I'll take my business elsewhere." Terrible service! Called the pharmacy and was put on hold for 15 minutes before they answered. Spoke to staff who indicated he would look up my prescription and after 15 more minutes tried to call back. Finally tried the general store number and was disconnected after 5 minutes of being on hold. Now on hold for the store manager. One minute....two minutes....Really?! read more

I am not one to write a review of a pharmacy, but I have been going to the pharmacy at this Walgreens for years, and they are truly amazing. Of particular note is Pam who goes way beyond what is hoped for from a pharmacy employee. She is simply amazing! I have no idea how she stays so cheery. Thank you Pam! The rest of the staff is wonderful as well, and even though I may have to wait at times, I never feel like I am being rushed or dismissed. They are all easy to work with, answer questions with patience and professionalism, and I truly appreciate their dedication. read more

I was at this walgreens shopping for groceries. This bald employee with hair on the sides down to his shoulders kept on following me throughout the store. Every isle I would go to he would follow me and pretend to "face" the products. He did this for the duration I was in the store, I would go to a different isle he would happen to pop up there also. Idk if its the way I look or what his deal is, but he was very obvious and ridiculous. I don't need harassment when shopping. Needless to say I will be shopping elsewhere. read more

I'm not sure if there are multiple Walgreens in Barrington; however, I do believe it was this location. I was in the area with a friend of mine who went inside to purchase cigarettes. As we were cashing out, the woman behind the counter asked us for both of our ID's. Looks wise, I am definitely on the younger side, so I did not mind handing over my license. She took my Indiana ID, and told me that I was not allowed to handle the cigarettes and to leave the premises while my friend purchased a pack. I am of legal age, so I did not understand why this particular Walgreens did not allow out of state ID's. The employee apologized, but I am in shock that this even happened. I am not sure if it was solely the cashier that may have not known that state ID's can be used throughout the country.... or if it really is this Walgreens location. Either way, I did not appreciate how this matter was handled. read more
