Came here tonight for dinner with my cousin. I just googled a place and found this with pretty good ratings. First off, we walked in and weren't greeted promptly, the waitress looked and looked back at the bar until a few mins later and came and ask what we were here for. We asked for a table of 2 which the waitress decided to seat us at the very first table where people were picking up take outs. We immediately weren't comfortable as there are many people coming and going right next to us, and there was no other table that was taken.... So we asked to switch. she was willingly and moved us to near the back. As for the food, we ordered a couple of rolls and a take bento box. The bento box was decent for its price and the rolls were also decent. My cousin and I were super full by the end and was unable to finish and had to pack it away. Overall, decent sushi place for not a bad price point.

I walk by Wako almost every day and vaguely remember trying it many years ago. I decided to get takeout after work and their menu looked reasonably priced. I ordered the Sakura bento and they were accommodating at my request to have more salmon sashimi than other fish. I also ordered the chirashi and both were delicious! The fish was fresh and well portioned. They also offer a 10% discount for takeout cash payment which was a bonus!

Overall a pretty solid sushi place. I was able to walk in for a weekday dinner and get seated right away. Service was fast and friendly and didn't mind that I had to wait a bit for the rest of my party. Their bento boxes are fairly priced given the amount of food you get and everything tasted good; one bento will leave you stuffed.

How was the food? I thought the food here was really average or maybe slightly below average. I wouldn't say that they are horrible because it is edible, but I definitely would not be interested enough in the food to eat it again. Maybe if I worked around the area then I might occasionally come in when I crave sushi, that kind of taste. The salad as a side dish though, pretty horrible, starter suppose to get your appetite open, but I think this one did the exact opposite for me, lol. All in all, a pretty boring shop. How was the service? The service was alright, I think nothing extraordinarily good, not bad either. Would I recommend? I think you can skip this one, you are not missing anything.

1/3 size of Sashimi pieces

First of all, the waitress never greeted us when we walked into the restaurant. There was 2 waitresses standing around in front of sushi bar, they glanced at us and looked away. After good 15 mins, one if the waitress finally came to get our order. I got back home, opened the sushi tray cover, saw the sizes of the sashimis, We were speechless. They were 1/3 of the regular sashimi sizes. Even the Nigiri sushi, the fish was paper thin (it was see-through) with a large thick chunk of rice on the bottom. I would NOT recommend or visit this place ever again!

Right next to my home, wako sushi makes really good sushi. Inside, the restaurant has a cozy atmosphere although I don't like their bench seats. they are hard and I can't slouch properly. Their sushi rolls are named after street names in the neighborhood. they even have the parkview roll as they are located adjacent to parkview and yonge. Their sushi rolls are pretty good as well as the chirashi bowl. I think they are one of the more decent sushi places in north york. the other dishes that they have like the udon aren't really worth ordering. You come here for the sushi or chirashi bowl. Great place and a little pricey. but the quality is pretty good.

Wako used to be Hiro... Hiro used to be.......? Now a sushi sake bar with a Korean only menu for people that read Korean...secret live Halibut menu! You will be happy if you are into rolls... rolls of rolls.. I found menu a little boring..... Yawn.. My friends ordered: - Miso soup ($1.50) - KaKitama Soup ($3.00) - Dynamite Roll ($6.95) - Spicy Tuna Crunch Roll ($6.95) - Rainbow Roll ($9.95) - Spider Roll ($9.95) - Shrimp Tempura ($7.95) - Ika Yaki ($7.95) Food is decent.. service is efficient.. I found the rolls on the smallish side... and I think I need to eat a lot of those to be full... Maybe those friends I was with ate all the rolls while I was busy taking photos.

Hiro Bento Box

During the pandemic, I really wanted to find a good sushi place to takeout, nonetheless I found Wako! When I first walked in to pay for my order, right a way I received great service. The food was already packaged and ready. The server was standing at the front. The most impressive part was, this is the only restaurant that I went to that wiped the machine with lysol wipe prior to me paying for my order! This shows me that they really focus on cleanliness! I ordered the Hiro bento box that came with sushi, sashimi and a choice of teriyaki. I picked the short ribs. The quality of the food was better than expected. The sashimi were fresh and short ribs were good with a decent amount! This is the only place that I found short ribs plus sushi and sashimi all in one bento box - for a fair price of $19+tax. Definitely a good place for food and value!

Today, January 9, 2021 @ 7:11p. I pick up my order here. I ordered salmon bento. The price is very cheap than other sushi place. I paid $13+ tax. For the amount of food it is worth it . The salmon is very big and thick and the people who is making the sushi is wearing a gloves unlike the other sushi place like rock sushi, hockey sushi, 168 sushi. Check the pictures for the salmon bento that I ordered .

Great place to go with friends. Donburi rice bowls and large selection of sushi boats are worth getting.

I came here with a friend, ordered 4 rolls (Parkview Ave roll, Black Dragon, Lobster Salad, Spicy Salmon Crunch roll) which is more than enough for 2 people. Good quality sushi, rice was soft and tasty, there was a good amount of filling in each piece.

"We have been aWAKOed for some Wako....but it was jus A-OK" - Let me have some "pun" I have been wanting to try this place for a while and now that Izakaya and Asian Legend have closed down, and forever having a craving for Asian food, I came here. And of course, I go during Happy Hour (happy prices for a happy tummy!!!). I ordered a Don Katsu while my friend ordered Chicken Teriyaki. They both came in bento boxes that came with a salad, chap chae (if I did not spell this correctly, I apologize), one gyoza, two sushi pieces, miso soup, and rice. I liked how the sushi rolls weren't just cucumber or california rolls. My friend ordered the larger set I believe since it came with a sushi roll and tempura. My friend said the miso soup wasn't as good as other places however, I don't think you should expecting too much from the side dishes during Happy Hour. Then again, the soup is probably loaded with salt and MSG anyways.... I was also surprised at how the restaurant was predominantly non-Asians, despite the Asian population in the area. Most people seemed to have come during their lunch break from nearby offices. Pros: service was very good. The waitresses greeted us immediately and were friendly. Although they would talk to each other, they would quickly leave their conversations to serve customers. This is no surprise but I have been to restaurants where waitresses would continue with their conversations although they see that you are calling for them. Cons: Food was mediocre. I am referring to my don katsu (pork) in particular since that was the main dish. It tasted soggy and not fresh. The meat was also very thin and sliced. I would've preferred if it was sliced/cut but not disassembled into the box. Unfortunately, I do not remember the price but I assume it was worth the price... P.S. They have two TVs here. When I was here, one was playing a sports channel and the other was playing TVO kids...but there were no kids inside the restaurant lol. I personally didn't mind and found it rather hilarious. Since I visit the area often, I am hoping to their their special sushi rolls and go for dinner.

I was starting to get really hangry and irritated after walking around the city all day. We started with Korean beer and shots of Jinro Is Back Soyu. It was a good idea. Overall the food was quite good. I recommend everyone to check this restaurant out for themselves. The Korean pancake with seafood and vegetables was huge and much crispier than the one I've tried before. My beef tartare bibimbap was perfect. Just thinking about it makes me want to have it right now. The sizzling hot plate with pork and squid also looked very impressive. It must have been delicious as well, because one of my companions ate the whole thing with no problem. Hence we entered Jin Dai Lae. Good decision (yes, I am patting my back). Entree pricing was $3 to $4 lower than Markham/Richmond Hill. Portion was so big that you would be full, and might have to doggy bag. Most importantly, food tasted good. Short ribs stew had many pieces of beef. Squids hot plate was saucy. It wasn't too spicy, so it was good for me (menu didn't have a chilli sign either). For people who like it hot, you can ask for some chilli sauce.
