I wasn't sure whether to give this place a 4 or a 5, but being that it's waco, which is limited in the cuisine department, I'm giving it a 5. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed everything we tried over the course of two visits. The pork bulgogi, beef bulgogi and chicken udon noodles were all delicious. My picky 3-yr-old loves the edamame and the kids chicken bowl with black rice. We tried the chicken express roll and the waco roll. Both were good, but the waco roll was pretty heavy eating. Deep fried plus beef and mayo means it was more filling than I'm used to for sushi. Still tasty if you're really hungry and love tempura! Being from a bigger city with more asian food choice, I'd normally rate this place at a 4 for the sushi being not the best I've had (though still good) but this is the best asian food I've had in Waco since moving here 6 mo. ago. Pros: Hubby and I ordered Vegetable tempura roll and Wako roll, seaweed salad and chicken fried rice for our toddler. They brought the rice out asap, which was very thoughtful/attentive- parents really appreciate that stuff! He really enjoyed it too. The seaweed salad came out first, and it was a little different from what I've had but it was very tasty! Our rolls came out a few minutes later, very quickly. They were also delicious. Cons: The ambiance/decor is a little lacking, and many tables needed to be bussed (no booths were available due to it). As to be expected with sushi, it's a little pricey. But that's usually how it goes. Our bill (with no drinks) was $34, to give you an idea. BRING CASH FOR THE TIP (they don't accept tip charged on credit/debit card). Well I happened on a last-minute excursion to see my grandmother as she was passing in hospice. I am from DFW. I searched "sushi" while in Waco because I was looking for comfort food. After deliberating my choices to other people in the room (relatives from the area) insisted I try this place if I wanted sushi. I was BLOWN AWAY. A very lovely festive atmosphere and incredibly hospitable and knowledgeable staff. When it says "Big Roll" in parentheses you better believe it. It was also a Texas sized Poke Bowl and a perfectly made Roll I've never seen the size of for the price listed. One of the most decadent Poke bowls I've had thus far. The lovely waitress (whom I'm convinced as a soul of gold) came and sat with me and reconciled as she could tell I was distressed. Food was amazing the presentation was amazing the genuinely caring staff was amazing. I would honestly go out of my way to visit this place on a trip to Austin when passing by. Can't wait to come back. I hope whoever the manager is gives all of the staff a High-5 on the daily. read more

Big rolls for the price, but now I know why. Very low quality sushi. We tried 3 different rolls, and didn't like any of them.

For a good lunch, start with the Ika salad or Miso soup and either the Bibimbap or the Tempura Shrimp Udon. The only thing I have to say about the Bibimbap is that I wish they would not hard fry the egg so much. I like it to be nice and runny. Grab a friend or two and share a large Korean dish of Galbee (short ribs) and some sushi. The Spider, Red Dragon, Ruby Roll, Ocean Crab rolls are definitely worth a try. Into nigiri? Try the peppered tuna tadaki. They've recently added some new Korean street tacos to the menu, and they are a-maz-ing. (The Galbee, of course, are my favorite.) I'm a taco fanatic and Asian and Mexican foods fuse so well together, these are a great addition. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE!! This was the last straw. The first time, there was a massive hair in my tteokbokki and it was gross-they would not give us a refund. The second time, even worse. The kimchi rice is a disgrace to the motherland. Very unpleasant customer service every time. But the last time was the worst! I ordered the smoked salmon nigiri, and I am now worried I may have a parasite because of how poorly cooked it was. The worst nigiri I have tried. But what made me write this review and never go back was the bibimbap. We paid $20 for maybe two pieces of meat. There was no meat. Horrible bland flavor. Way overpriced. And when we told the server that we didn't get our extra meat, two people had to come out and stick their head in our food and dig in it with our chopsticks and tell us "We just have to check because the customer is wrong a lot of the time." read more

I love sushi and, because I go to Baylor, I obviously found myself eating at Wako Roll to get my shrimp tempura roll fix. This place is very good and the rolls they offer and endless. They have great rice, both fried and white, and I have even tried things outside of sushi rolls and have found them delicious. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because the wait time tends to be long and sometimes someone's food comes out 15 minutes before another. Also, I feel that they are slightly overpriced. But, overall I am pleased to have a good sushi place so close to campus. 8/10 recommend. read more

I came here to eat lunch one day with a coworker after hearing good things. The sushi was pretty good and arrived freakishly fast and my coworker ordered a noodle dish that she liked as well. I like that you order at the counter, too. Keeps things quick when you are on a time crunch. My only major problem is that I had to ask someone to take our order, which is a pet peeve of mine. There were people working in the back that we could see and they could see us and a girl filling up sauce into little containers right by the register. She even looked right at us but didn't come over to take our order. We waited for a few minutes and finally asked if she could and she said "yeah, sure" and then did. It was really weird. This place has decent food but I have the most to say about their boba I went there just now, me and my friends had the worst experience with the tea the black milk tea tasted like chemicals the vanilla had no flavor and the chocolate milk taste like chalk. Let me just start by saying I eat sushi every chance I get, I have tried this place twice now and I feel like this place is mediocre. I look for consistency when trying restaurants and I felt like this one was very inconsistent. For the price you pay, the flavor is not there either. It's almost hard to explain. Waco is still a smaller big city- and you can not find as much as you would in a big metro area such as Dallas. I Love Love Love the bulgogi!!! I have never had a bad meal with the Bulgogi (or Bulgogi claypot for cold days!) and have always loved the flavors and taste!!! Was looking forward to visiting this place for sushi and Korean food while visiting our Baylor kid. Extremely disappointed with the service and mistakes during the night. Ordered some sushi, short ribs and poke bowl. Food was adequate although like others have said, there were boxes and clutter strewn all over the dining area. Our biggest complaint was with some of the staff and the fact they they would not own up to their mistakes and correct problems. We ordered short ribs which came without rice and side dishes. We asked someone if it should and they said no which was strange in that a dish would come with just meat with no rice but we didn't want to complain and we kept on eating. At the end though, we were again curious so we asked another employee. She said yes it should have came with rice and apologized. We were fine with that and was just going to let it go but then we find a hair in our poke bowl while finishing up so we went to discuss that with the cashier. At that time, we brought up the fact that no rice was provided with the short ribs. That cashier again contradicted the second person saying no rice is provided although the menu and what we paid was for the dish to come with rice. She continued to argue coming with all kind of excuses and at the end, we just left not wanting to escalate but vowing never to come back. We get back home and then find that the cashier also made another mistake, mistakenly charging an item twice. The inflexibility of the cashier, not getting what we paid for, hair in the poke bowl and being mistakenly charged twice for the same item are reasons we will not be back. read more

I had a spicy salmon roll that was pretty decent, and fairly priced, but the sexy, sexy roll was a waste of $15.00.It was 80% rice, and was missing the yellowtail that it was supposed to come with. Their sushi is less than mediocre. Eating the bibimbap here makes me feel a certain way that I can only compare to eating the (fake) pho from Clay Pot. The food here is basically a combination of Teriyaki Park, which is owned by the same owner, and generic Korean cuisine. Regarding the quality of the food, I have to admit. It is not the best Korean food you will ever taste, perhaps not even close, but it is most definitely the best you will get in Waco. The Waco area has been lacking severely in cultural food, so this is not surprising. Nonetheless, the menu does offer variety and the general aesthetic of the restaurant is friendly and inviting. The food isn't spectacular as I mentioned before, but occasionally I will find myself with a bit of a Korean craving. This definitely satisfies that craving. read more

The staff was diverse and after I ordered stone pot bibimbap they accidentally gave me squid instead of daeji bulgogi, and then when I said something I didn't mind the squid they insisted on breaking me a 2nd pot with the correct order. Then I found a hair in my rice while I was eating it...I pulled it out and it was a short hair, obviously not mine..and I was the only person who ate that. Actually this wasn't my first time got a problem with the bibimbap.. Last time I found a little steel scrubber in it when I dined in..I told the girl who worked there and she only asked if I needed a new one..didn't mention to gave my money back..I said NO bc I was already full.. This place has good food! Their sushi is good and so are their other entrees. Their boba tea/smoothies are the best. One of my favorite dishes is their tempura shrimp udon soup and we cannot get enough of their philly rolls! The soup has a bit of a kick, just perfect enough to make you feel warm. At least 50 percent of the rolls contained crab. So then, we spent another few minutes looking through rolls without help from the person taking our order. It came with a raw stalk of broccoli, a cut dill pickle and a small bowl of fried rice that was bland. The entire thing was odd and I left it on the table. I also ordered a spicy calamari taco.
