Since the pharmacy in town was already closed, my host volunteered the local Sainsbury as the stop on our way back from the pub. Sainsbury is the equivalent of a Safeway here in the states. They are a local chain serving the suburban families out away from the hustle and bustle of London. I found the allergy medicine that I required in addition to a fabulous type of toothpaste called Cordosyl (3 pounds each). Checkout was perfect since they had self-service instated. The parking lot here is large and clean and it is only a short jaunt away from the row of shops along the street. Thank you, Sainsburys!

It has a good selection of food as well as a surprisingly large choice of homeware and clothing. There is a dry cleaners within the store as well as a Starbucks coffee shop. The Starbucks is a nice place to stop before or after doing your shopping and you always seem to be able to get a seat. It has a cash machine and is only a short walk from the shops of Beaconsfield new town.

The largest of teh Tesco stores in Aylesbury, has a good range of clothing, footwear as well as electrical items (tvs etc). It also has a pharmacy at the back of the store. I usuallu use the smaller Tescos on the other side of town and do find this one rather large and tiring to go around but it does make a change once in a while. There are alot of tills and we have never had to queue too long when going there, it has a huge car park and a petrol station.

Using my sat nav just to try find a grocery shop and I passed budgens and as I was trying to find a safe place to turn around I happen to find Tesco which to my delight had a big car park which was sign posted very well! So I got a great spot next to the entrance and at first grabbed a basket as I knew this was a small store but just going down one aisle I then decided I needed a trolley as there was more items you can get through this store! I ended up doing my whole weekend shopping which was great for me as I didn't have to venture anywhere else and the queues for the till was very short and staff were very friendly!

It's got a huge range of items, although no adult clothing (other than underwear) or much in the way of electronics/media/toys, unlike even bigger stores. For groceries, though, it's got a lot to offer. Fruit and veg are of good quality and usually well-stocked. The deli and fresh fish counters offer a lot of choice, and they even have a large 'Polish food' section. They have two 'car trolleys' which amuse small (and big) kids greatly, and make the shopping trip easier with children who are too big for the trolley seats but too small to walk all the way around without whining. Somewhere central so you didn't have to get in your car everytime you needed a loaf of bread or some oranges. So congratulations to Waitrose for meeting that need. It took Waitrose a while to settle into their market. For a while, they tried to be more like a deli, with little discounting and not many customers doing a weekly shop. Either the credit crunch or a sensible reappraisal led them to introduce price commitments and reductions. While not there yet, I am sure what all local residents really want is Waitrose quality at Tesco prices, and if that's how we keep buying maybe Waitrose will start to provide.

This particular store was pretty expansive for the area…read morehaving a lot more variety and vegan options for the person who eats plant based, and if you don't there are a ton of options here for you. The store was clean and well organized. The shelves were stocked up nicely and like I said they have a good variety of items that they offer. I had limited exposure to the employees but the one I did talk to for a quick moment seemed pretty friendly and helpful. If I need anymore items on my trip I will definitely be popping back over to this store.
