Unfortunately, we never even got the opportunity to experience the actual Captain Bob's Sandbar tour because the transportation and communication were handled so poorly. We were visiting Oahu for my mom's birthday and specifically planned this tour as one of our major activities. After having an issue with the pickup instructions the first time, we rescheduled for the following day. Our rescheduled pickup was around 9:45 AM.. Before the pickup, Captain Bob's CALLED ME and told me that the driver was going to be late. I appreciated the notification and, because I had specifically been told there would be a delay, I went back inside the hotel while we waited. At approximately 10:02 AM, I received a call telling me the driver was now outside. I immediately started making my way outside. By approximately 10:07 AM, the driver was already GONE.The crazy part was that I will still willingly to pay for an uber and transport myself. I have the call logs showing these times. & find this completely unreasonable. DIABOLICAL behavior. Your company can call a customer and ask them to accommodate YOUR delay, but when the driver finally arrives, the customer gets approximately five minutes after being notified before the driver leaves? We are tourists. We do not live here. We are unfamiliar with the pickup areas and were relying on the company to provide clear instructions and communication. If your transportation is already running behind schedule, giving customers only a few minutes after calling them to get outside is unacceptable. Had we simply shown up late for a clearly communicated pickup time, I would understand the company leaving. That is not what happened here. We were specifically told YOUR DRIVER WAS RUNNING LATE. We adjusted our plans based on the information your company gave us. I also want to be clear that my complaint is not about the boat crew or the actual Sandbar experience because unfortunately we never got the opportunity to experience it. This review is specifically about the transportation, communication, and customer service surrounding our reservation. We spent a significant amount of money on this tour for our family and planned it around my mom's birthday. Instead, we were left extremely disappointed and scrambling to find something else to do for her birthday. I understand that tour companies have schedules to maintain. I also understand that traffic and delays happen. But if customers are expected to be understanding when YOUR transportation is late, your company should show customers that same basic courtesy. Calling at 10:02 AM and being gone by approximately 10:07 AM after already telling us the driver would be late is not reasonable customer service. I sincerely hope Captain Bob's reviews how situations like this are handled because this was an incredibly disappointing way to treat paying customers. I will never book anything in the future with this company and will never recommend to anyone who asks me what they should book for their Hawaii experience and that's that.

She came across as extremely unfriendly and dismissive, her attitude changed noticeably after she realized we were not Japanese. We were treated quite coldly and felt unwelcome, which was disappointing and honestly put a damper on an otherwise great experience. I tried to ask her directly what her problem was, but she repeatedly denied that anything was wrong and burying the facts. So I brought the issue up with her manager Shannon and hopefully their management can take this feedback seriously and look into the situation. Saw coconut island with hundreds of fish, then walked around sandbar, then saw about 20 turtles maybe more and then lunch stop at secret beach (or was it called island) and then past china mans hat. Very special excursion, away from tourists, and I plan on recommending this to all my mainland guests. Made me wish I had a boat but then again I don't know the first thing about maintenance, rules on boating (is that a verb) etc. will just have to make sure to become a regular patron of this business.

I wish there would have been a water lounger for him to use to get him into the water, but he enjoyed his conversation on the boat with the Captain which still gave me the opportunity to snorkel. The 3 women crew were confident and capable from the Captain to her first mates! We motored out to Shark's Cove, and saw a huge pod of spinner dolphins on the way! Once the anchor was dropped, we snorkeled where we saw plenty of coral, fish, and two sea turtles! We loaded back onto the Cat for lunch with drinks and a sail back to the dock with our 3 women crew really showing their skills by unfurling the sails! They were well organized from having sandwiches nicely displayed after the snorkel to the shoes being displayed on dock after the excursion! They had every detail well thought out and planned which kept things running smoothly! Be sure to use the restrooms at the dock before boarding; otherwise, you're contributing to the toxins in the sea during the snorkel! ‍

Despite calling twice before the trip to express concerns about a 30 mph wind forecast, we were repeatedly told it was fine to proceed. On the day of the trip, the conditions were so poor that other local companies canceled their snorkeling tours. Our captain even explicitly stated that snorkeling was unsafe. We pivoted to whale watching, but saw nothing due to the weather; the conditions were so miserable we had to cut the trip short. Most disappointing was the company's response. When I reached out, they claimed snorkeling was still possible "for strong swimmers"--a reckless statement considering we had children with us and the waves were objectively dangerous. It's clear this business prioritizes keeping your money over customer safety and satisfaction. Avoid this company; they do not have their customers' best interests in mind.
