Aloha peeps! My vacation in Honolulu was a blast thanks in part to the Waikiki Banyan. My room, which was on the 16th floor, had a beautiful view of the Ala Wai Canal, Manoa Valley and the mountains beyond. The room was well appointed and included a full kitchen, living room, bedroom and balcony. The location of the hotel was minutes away and a short walk to Waikiki Beach, the Honolulu Zoo and the International Marketplace. It was also close to Kapahulu Avenue which gave me easy access to the freeway when I was ready to head out for a drive around the island. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and have already rebooked the room for a return visit later this year. read more

Stay at the Waikiki Banyan last 12 trips. Our new favorite since 2020. Property Manager keeps the unit well maintained. Big plus in Unit T2-3110 is there's a UV/Carbon water filter installed and we drink a lot of water daily at no bottle water cost because Property Manager includes stainless steel water bottles. We are long time visitors to Hawaii. We have stayed many places but we have stayed here the last two times and will stay here again in Sept. The rooms we get are full kitchens and roomy. Is a block or two back from the beach but we have had partial ocean view when there. One of the reasons we have stayed there is because we do get parking. The front desk is very friendly. It is just E of being centrally located on Wikiki beach but definitly walkable (we don't use our car except to take day trips which we do alot). To date we have not had any issues with the elevators. We tend to go off season but in Dec we were there from the 16th until the 25th. Lots of people. But again no problems. Close to the zoo, Kapiolani Park. read more

Scored a nice 2-bed studio apartment on the 28th floor on VRBO for 6 nights. Partial ocean and partial city/mountain views. Clean building, decent water pressure, well outfitted and comfy. A decent place to stay on a budget. The major issues I had were the elevators are just horrible. They have 4 elevators per tower and only run 3. On a busy day it make take close to 30 minutes, because they are so full. The room came with AC but the AC is in the living room and not the bedrooms. It gets hot at night to sleep. We have stayed at 3 units over the years. They are all different. Some good some really bad. Back to the horrible elevators. They will ruin your trip. This place had very simple check in and check out with door codes! Brilliant! The views were spectacular if you get lucky enough to have ocean views you can watch the surfers on their waves from your balcony! The room I was in equally shared a view with diamond head which was the best of both worlds! The bed in the bedroom was comfortable and I love that they had dividers from the living room area! Booked the Banyan Waikīkī. They have a tired old ad that was incorrect. I have stayed here many times before but this was horrible. There was major construction of pool and hot tub, play, bbq area. Front end, loaders, chopped saws, jack hammers dust you name it. When I called the VRBO, it hooked me up with some dude in India and we argued for two hours before I hung up. THEY WOULD NOT REFUND ME THE FEE. THE DUDE MOHAMMED ARGUED WITH ME AND SAID HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT THE PLACE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION? I MEAN REALLY? YOU'RE THEIR PROXY. Good location-just a few blocks from Waikiki. However this place has multiple businesses--time shares, hotel, apartments? It's hard to figure out who is there to help who. The rooms itself are slightly dated but has everything needed for a stay. Nice pool that is shared by both towers. Overall, would def come back for a stay. read more

This property is mixed HOA and hotel. Tower 1 unit 1509 is not managed by the hotel, therefore do not expect housekeeping services, fresh linen, or towels. Be ready to be your own house keeper! We arrived after 10pm on a Thursday and our door code was not working. Went to the front desk to ask for help and they told us to call the number on the confirmation email because that unit was privately owned and managed by another company. We called the after hours number on the email, and after being on hold for ten minutes, they instructed us on how to reprogram the entry lock keypad. The unit was a huge disappointment, it was filthy and smelled like mildew and sewage. The bathroom was the worst! We had to maintain the door shut at all times to contain the smell. The towels provided were old and dirty. All the dish towels in the kitchen smelled rancid. The stove was dirty and the fridge froze everything we put in it. The pictures online for KOKO Resort are not accurate. And don't even get me started on the pool, there were used bandaids floating in this foggy water. STAY AWAY! Spend the extra money and stay at the Hilton. read more

Da Scene: Very fortunate to remote work from Northern California for a month to be home for the holidays. Spent 1st 3 weeks where else... da Banyan! Fond memories not just of weekend get-togethers of my youth, but several family stays over the years, the Waikiki Banyan has never disappointed. Da Stay: 1st 3 weeks of December 2020 was picture perfect weather, with daily sunrises and sunsets that just stunned you. We rarely cooked, mostly re-heated stuff, patronizing the many small businesses offering in Waikiki and Kaimuki. Onsite the pool, coffee shop and grocery store were great, only missing ICE, had to hit Longs or Foodland. 1 block from Waikiki beaches, steps form high-end and plate lunch dining. I honestly can't think of a better locale. Da Service: Staff were always helpful, safety was paramount. Security, Front Desk, store staff were all great. Although capacity did rise just before Christmas (lots of people all of a sudden) and we moved to another property for the last leg of our trip. Elevator rides varied with some patrons choosing to break protocols... not the facility's fault. On booking... BE CAREFUL. We were in unit 2014, a prime corner spot. We've booked all sorts of properties through VRBO and this was the 1st time we had any issues. They have always been great. 3rd party booking mgt. was RED Awning and I will NOT be booking any properties managed by them again. Ask if the property is actually managed by the owner or or another mgt. company. Will post separately for VRBO and Red Awning if possible. The Waikiki Banyan property itself? THEY RULE. read more

Parking makes this a maybe. Good location to walk to beach or restaurants. Pool and spa always busy and didn't see anyone clean during the whole visit. Full recreation area needs a major overhaul. Stayed in unit 3007, it was decent space. Bathroom needs updating and unit needs a deep clean. Building is ok but nothing special. The coffee place downstairs is a great option. My friends and I did a staycation here for our little holiday get together. We loved the rooms because it was big enough for the 4 of us. It was a suite type room equipped with a full kitchen, fridge, a sofa couch, a dining table, two double beds, and full bathroom. It was spacious for us so we really felt at home. Their website, could use a little updating since some of their amenities were no longer there such as the Sauna and snack bar near the pool. The exterior of the hotel can use a little updating as well to make it look pleasing, but it was still a nice place. The location of the hotel, is convenient. Only a block away from the beach and about a 5 min walk away from the International Market Place. There are also a lot of eateries nearby as well. The hotel has its own coffee shop and mini mart downstairs. The only downside of the hotel was the parking and the elevators. The elevators take awhile, you are stuck waiting for awhile or even more than once as sometimes the elevators are full so you have to catch another one. They provide public parking as well so its mixed with the guests parking. We came back late one night and the parking garage was full. So their security guard had to direct us to find a spot on the lower level. We took one of the last two spots we saw, to which he told us, "I guess will be full after that one". Overall the hotel was adequate and we enjoyed our stay. FYI: They do Kama'aina discounts for room rates. read more

This was our first try at an Airbnb and have been pleasantly surprised. We picked this condo for the location near Waikiki Beach and also due to Brian being a super host. Figured we couldn't go wrong. He had just finished renovating the unit before we arrived and there were still glitches here and there. For example a couple of outlets were almost impossible to plug cords into. The TV was broken when we arrived. However Brian was very responsive and got a replacement for the TV right away. As well he explained the ins and outs of the garage and pool area. The unit itself was tastefully done with a single shower, two queen beds and a pull down couch. It was a tight fit with all of our suitcases but we managed. The kitchen was well stocked with cups, plates and utensils. Everything was very clean. Inside the unit was one window AC unit which was sufficient to cool down the room when necessary. We had decent weather throughout our stay so we didn't turn it on much. Outside of the condo it was obvious the condominium building needed a bit of renovations but it was fine. The pool was of decent size and had a good crowd most of the day. As was the hot tub right next to it. Both were above the parking garage. There was also a tennis court that was closed. As well there was an area for grilling and most of the grills were available. The garage was the only downside to the whole stay. Yes parking was free which was great! (As was internet if anyone is asking). However the spacing was tight and the ceiling was very low. We drove a Ford Explorer and the antennae kept hitting the top of the ramps going up and down. We weren't the only cars barely squeaking by. They had a space for oversized cars but that didn't include every suv out there! Also there's no elevators in the garage which when dragging suitcases down flights can be a hassle. I visit Hawaii for extended periods of time multiple times a year, and always stay here at the Waikiki Banyan or at the Waikiki Sunset next door. The prices are reasonable and the location is superb. Just a block away from the beach, and a 5-10 min walk to Central Waikiki. Close enough to be convenient but far enough to be quiet and peaceful. A top benefit here is that (most) vacation rentals come with parking included. This costs a whopping $50 a night at nearby hotels so the savings here are huge. Having free parking along with what is essentially a 1-bedroom suite, all for the a price CHEAPER than the chain hotel resorts. I don't see why any visitors would want to stay in a Hilton, Marriott, or Hyatt when you can stay here at the Waikiki Banyan. Room quality and service is hit or miss depending on the property managers you book with. Aston (the front desk managers) is pretty good but by far the best experiences I've had have been with Jong on Airbnb. Highly recommended! read more

Yesterday was the end of the month 1/31/22 and I went to the security office like i did for the last 4 months at the end of each month and they said they were sold out when I asked them why they didn't tell me that I have to pay parking in advance they said this never happens witch I think is BS cause If you are sold out for the month why are they still suggesting I buy a week pass witch cost more... when I called the General manager Jack Johnson to talk to him about the situation he was rude and hanged the phone on me when I asked to speak to someone above him that can explain to me why the security didn't inform me when I first started paying for parking read more

My friends and I stayed here in Tower 2 for 8 days and we had an amazing time! We booked through AirBnB and the check-in process was very smooth and easy. The room was recently renovated so everything is up to date and nice. Plus, t view from the balcony is amazing! Also, it's a 5 minute walk to the beach so the location is perfect. We rented a car but there's no parking at the beach and it's so close, we walked instead and had no problems. The amenities are amazing. The kitchen is fully stocked with many plates, cups, bowls, etc., the wifi is very fast, the AC unit worked well, there's boogie boards, and there's free parking! We're very glad we chose to stay at the Waikiki Banyan. We highly recommend staying here! read more

When I made the reservation, it prominently stated on the website that the parking would be free. This was why I made the reservation at the Waikiki Banyan, because I know parking can be exorbitant in Waikiki. When we got there, they said the parking was $27 a night. I tried to explain to the desk clerk, then the manager, that we were told parking was free. I even showed them how if you Google "Waikiki Banyan" and "free parking", there are pages and pages of results that come up showing that there is free parking. They tried to claim that it's a separate company and they have no control over it. This is blatantly unfair and a money grab, just like the $25 "resort fee." read more

Me and my family stayed here for two weeks we could of stayed at relatives home because its so many family,But we didnt want to intrude plus i came with my family as well. So from the greeting and checking in Nick was very respectfull explained everything we needed to know . At first after looking at yelp reviews i was telling myself i hope we dont experience what i seen on yelp which was pretty bad . Coming from San Francisco i expect great servce coming so far.But honestly i was so happy with my choice . The room was huge ,hardwood floors , huge shower, nice kitchen area . We were in Tower 2 had an end room next to laundry room. Housekeeping was very responsive to our needs wether it was towels, dishwashing liquid, toiletries ,etc. It was very peaceful and our view was beautiful . Walking distance within everything you need . I loved how they had kitchen supplies to cook with. We cooked some days in the room . We had reservations with VBRO at the Waikiki Banyan this past week. This property was on the 32nd floor and faced the mountains and Ala Wai canal, but beautiful views day and night. It was a studio with a living room pull out sofa, luckily there were only 2 of us, a 3rd or 4th ( they had an air mattress in the closet) would totally be too crowded, but was great for us. The kitchen was a bit small, some wear and tear showed in this studio, but well stocked with TP, dish soap, laundry pods, soap; not enough shampoo/conditioner for a week though (1 tube only and we had to buy more). Amenities included garage parking, with security guard, friendly front desk/lobby, a nice pool and two jacuzzi's on the 6th floor. BBQ's - you have to pay for and laundry facilities on each floor. This property is managed by Captain Cook, the manager Bryon is very attentive, returning calls quickly. We would rent this studio again. read more

Beware, the rooms that are owned by this HOA and not an airBNB are not well kept, got stuck with Tower 1 Room 3512, there was worn out furnishings, filthy curtains with holes, smudge marks, roll out bed broken, AC leaking white fluid all over patio deck, dusty, smelly bathroom with non functional toilet, and overall dirty feel. Very disappointed in this locations property, the management offered no concessions after phoning and describing the filthy room. There are so many other places to stay in Waikiki, shame on you for not taking care of your guests who spends thousands of dollars to visit Oahu. read more

Went to meet family who was staying their while on vacation. They always choose them, so inquired. They indicated the cost was the most important for them. The view they had this time on the 37th floor, was expected for a local girl like me. The plus for them was also the pool and playground where their children could play, has tables to watch them nearby. Parking however is a challenge for them, why not it's Waikiki. Surprisingly they have a bidet! Their room had a mini kitchen with Stove, Microwave. Full Refrigerator and an island area to eat. Staff was friendly enough to assist with a key for my mom to immediately in need for a restroom in the lobby area. So, Yes would recommend to visitors. read more

Very nice condo within walking distance from the busiest Waikiki area. I had a one-week stay on the island with a rental car, and it was a mix of business and pleasure trip. To my surprise, the condo was at a very convenient location, and had plenty of parking spaces for guests. The higher floors had great views of the ocean, Diamond Head, or the city view. We stayed 6 nights at the Banyan and had a great experience! We booked thru Chase and when we got there we were greeted by Greg who was super helpful. Parking was included in the price which seemed to be a rarity in Waikiki. We were about 2 blocks from the beach and not far from food/shops. Clean, quiet, AC, very comfortable bed, great water pressure, balcony with a great view. A real bang for your buck! If we're ever back in Waikiki, we will definitely be booking at the Waikiki Banyan. Our condo 2104 was modern (updated), good view of the beach, lots of available parking, frequent elevators, and near the middle of Waikiki (so no need to hike a mile plus from the top of Waikiki). We stayed here during our holiday winter vacation and rented a unit here from through VRBO.com. The condo is partially residential and partially run by the Aston hotel chain. However, it seemed many people here were tourists and not residents. We did not have any problems at all. Our condo had great views and wasw very comfortable. This complex is a great place to stay if you do not mind taking long elevator rides. there are a total of 38 floors so its a long ride for those in the high floors--which is what we experienced. Fortunately for us, staying on the high floors meant having a spot in the elevator on the way down. The elevators seemed to fill up the further down we went towards the lobby floor. Speaking of the lobby floor, a mini mart and coffee shop are located there. At the mini mart, you can purchase Tide laundry detergent (for one load) for approximately $1.20. Each floor has one washer and one dryer to use . However, on our floor, we found the laundry are to be constantly busy. The cost is $1.50 per wash and $1.50 per dry. We ended up going to Walmart to buy a bottle of detergent since we had a few loads to do. Parking is easy going in and out with a parking pass. Most condo rentals here offer the parking pass included with the stay. There was always a parking attendant to make sure people going in and out are screened. When we took a cab back to the condo, the cab driver was able to drive into the garage to drop us off. We were glad the garage attendant allowed that. Some cars in the parking garage had been there for a while with parking tickets. We're not sure how they remove these types of cars. There seemed to be a total of 5 levels of parking The only thing that was missing in our full sized kitchen was a dish washer. However, that was not a deal breaker for us because we did not mind doing our dishes by hand. We had stayed at an Aston hotel before (Pacific Monarch) which we enjoyed. However, for a more affordable option, we decided to rent from a private owner of a condo in this building and had no issues. We would definitely stay here again. read more
