Wahoo Sampler Platter
Zoe G.

The food was so good. Got the wahoo sampler platter, all the food was good the wings were my favorite and the Texas Twinkies were so much better than I was expecting. All the sauces were amazing too. Service was a little slow but otherwise good. Went over to the bar side after for a drink and the prices literally can't be beat. So reasonable.

I'm a huge fan of Wahoo BBQ. I first experienced them while they were still in the food truck. A bit on the pricier side but the food was always delicious. Well they recently expanded their space and menu. Space: They completely redid the inside of what used to be Dogwood. Atmosphere gets 10/10. They really gave that place the facelift it desperately needed. The first couple of weeks was a bit chaotic but I realize they kept all of Dogwoods staff and completely revamped their menu so I'm taking this into account on this review. Menu: they kept some of Dogwood's favorites (chicken wrap, buffalo wrap, etc) as well as significantly expanding their own menu. Pricing finally became more affordable (yay) and the menu is about an 8/10. I say this because the buffalo wrap is not very good and needs some work. Some of their original items are still on the pricey side. The smoked wings are to die for. I could eat 40 by myself. That's no joke. So one night i decided to have a cheat meal. Let me tell you about the Cowgirl HOLY COW. Sliced brisket, coleslaw, white lightning, and an onion ring on a toasted bun . I went into a food coma and became part of my couch after devouring it. It's sloppy. It's delicious. It's too big for your britches. YOU NEEED IT IN YOUR LIFE. Trust me. Check out the pics for proof.

Pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries and Cole slaw

Wahoowa for this BBQ ! The service was quick and friendly. The prices were affordable and the portion sizes fairly large. Our BBQ (brisket and pulled pork) was divine - smoky flavor and tender mouthfeel. The sauces at the table were good and added another layer of yum. Definitely a spot to check out in the area !

2 meat platter (shredded chicken and brisket). Rib platter and smoked chicken wings. Sides of hush puppies, Mac & Cheese, and coleslaw.

Food is not that great. The bbq is pretty fatty, which is disappointing. I appreciate the home town local feel but it's a miss for me.

We have been there a few times. A solid menu and decent food. Nothing to make a special trip for, but I would not avoid it either.

Server (Brianna) started out good, fairly attentive until I got my food. After I got my food I got one cursory "all good?" and that was it until I got the bill. Anyway, on to the food: ordered two meat plate (brisket and pulled pork) with fries and coles slaw. Fries were the highlight of the meal. Hot, crispy, seasoned...awesome. Cole slaw was good....but it was super tangy (vinegary) for my taste. Don't get it wrong, it was good, just hard to eat all of it thanks to the tang. On to the meat. Got a pretty good sized pile of pulled pork and a couple slices of brisket. Both meats were lukewarm at best. Pork was dry (thank goodness for the NC vinegar sauce). The brisket made up for the porks dryness, it was extra greasy and extra fatty. Like, for real, do you think people are going to eat the fat layer between the lean point meat and the fatty upper meat? Yeah, not me. But since the brisket was also lukewarm (more like lukecold) it really didn't make a difference. I did think the Vision BBQ sauce tasted pretty good. If Brianna would have come back by after I got my meal I would have sent it back....and probably would have just left without worrying over a replacement, or a comp, or anything. Secondary issue: went to the mens room. It was just nasty. You get once shot to make an impression, and this one was not good. Would not/will not repeat.

Oct, 2025. We visited Country Boys BBQ for lunch on a week-day while running errands in Louisa, VA;…read morethis was our first visit. Food (5/5). I selected the Pork Tacos PLATTER ($16), which featured three soft flour tortillas filled with smoked pulled pork, house-made pico (red onion, tomato, cilantro), and radish with a Baja drizzle. (Corn tortillas are available upon request). All platters come with two 8-ounce sides; from the 9 choices, we opted for the broccoli salad and onion rings. My husband selected a Smoked Pulled Pork SANDWICH ($10), which was served on a "signature-branded" bun with regular or spicy slaw (on the side) and with a bag of Lay's chips. All of our food was very good, and tasted fresh and homemade. The "branding" of the restaurant's logo on the bun was a fun touch, and we got a pleasant surprise in finding that the very tasty BBQ sauce on the tables was manufactured by GWB Hot Sauce in Clarksburg, WV (which we visit regularly to see a relative). Quantities were good for a filling lunch; we did not have leftovers for a brown bag. Two small comments: (1) my husband would've preferred a more generous helping of the slaw to put on his sandwich; and (2) it would be great to have a menu option that is vegetarian, perhaps a platter with three or four of the side dishes -- or at least showing a separate price for the sides on the menu. Ambiance. (4.5/5). The restaurant is country cute, with clean, well-spaced tables. Many of the tables were occupied while we were there for lunch but it didn't feel crowded. A few patrons seemed "local", and acknowledged the owner who was sitting with some buddies at one of the tables. The restroom was well-maintained. Service (4.5/5). There was only one (efficient!) waitress, handling in-restaurant and take-out orders, delivering food and drinks, wiping down tables, etc. Despite how busy she was, we felt taken care of. Parking, in a town of Louisa lot behind the restaurant, was free and easy. We will return.

The bartender greeted me and asked if I wanted the regular menu or was the lunch menu sufficient. I perused the lunch menu, which had several different options. Surprisingly, everything on that menu was half price! What a deal! I ordered the most expensive item, the catfish sandwich, which was only $10. Even though they were very busy, I got my sandwich within ten minutes. They call it a sandwich but there ain't no way I could eat it like a sandwich, even with my big mouth. The catfish came with onion, lettuce, tomato, and some kind of sauce on a toasted sub roll. It came with a knife. I cut off the first bite. It was .......... GREAT! Wow! I have always gotten BBQ or fish tacos before. Fantastic blending of flavors. It came with a choice of a side and I chose fries. The fries were barely alive. Good flavor but partially limp. The sausage was good (a lil dry) and the brisket...baby I asked for fatty brisket (and I always have to tell ppl I mean the part you'd probably not eat lol, don't judge me) and I swear they gave me the driest leanest slices they could find lol. Now I love the variety of sauces that was dope although me being a Tx girlie "if I need sauce, that means it ain't smoked right or is lacking something" but that's just me. Oh and I tried my date's shredded chicken (another odd choice) and it tasted like baked bbq chicken...oh and the cornbread was dry as hell!! Tasty but like eating a biscuit from Popeyes But anyways the service was great!!! The sides were amazing but the actual bbq left a lot to be desired...again if you're not from the south I can see yall loving this spot.
