I'm only giving it one star because the waiter was nice. The food was absolutely horrific. I am so disappointed because my fiancé' and I were starving and looking forward to a good meal to complete our day trip. I had the chicken barbecue that was absent of barbecue. The barbecue was in a squirt bottle. I have never seen anything like it in my life!! I just knew it was going to be a country meal that made my soul smile. She asked me if I wanted to try something else and in my mind, I was telling her, "heck no, I really do not want to eat this", but here we are. I also had the macaroni salad. First off, you should know that the restaurant is blatantly supportive of our corrupt felon President. A Trump bumper sticker on the half wall and money behind the register with his face on it. Smokin Eddie's offers consistently good food and service at a reasonable price point. It's a local business that seems to have a steady local following. The restaurant does not serve alcohol and is a little dated on the interior but I enjoy this restaurant and have never been disappointed by my meal. The restaurant has a very laid back and relaxed feel. If you are in a hurry, they aren't fast, so pack your patience. The food was great and the portions were generous. We got the family meal which was a Lb of pulled chicken and two large sides for $22. They have a mild and hot bbq sauce, I wish they had something sweet. Been working in the center of Louisa and was looking for a quick lunch. The restaurant has a large open floor plan but feels dated, 1960's.. maybe. There is street parking in front and larger parking lot next door. My co-worker Charlie and I both went with the BBQ sandwich with slaw & fries $7.50. After about 30 minutes our food came out. We were getting a bit restless but remembered how busy they were when we arrived. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. I went the BBQ sandwich based on how good it looked in the Yelp review photos. The BBQ sandwich and fries were good but not great. They were chincy on the slaw and after I let our server know, she brought out a small sauce cup with more. The bun was a bit soft for my liking and I would have preferred a vinegar sauce brought to the table. I wasn't impressed by the "mild" or "hot" sauce they offered. A quick review, as this restaurant deserves nothing more. Poor rack of ribs served dry, and a very watery BBQ sauce from a squirt bottle. The meat didn't fall off the bones, but had to be dragged off with the help of very dull knives. We had the Butt-Fries which are smothered in cheese, pulled pork, onions, and peppers. Unfortunately, they were soggy and not very flavorable. The decor of the dining area was extremely well worn, and really didn't give a BBQ joint vibe. Overall it didn't seem very clean. We came, we ate, we saw, we left disappointed. Next time will try Country Boy's BBQ down the block. read more

Even though there were a few setbacks with the cook messing things up, the food was great. I loved it! It really tasted home cooked. The restaurant was SPOTLESS. It was the most impeccable restaurant that I think I've ever seen. So clean and no weird odors in the air like a lot of other restaurants. You can tell that the owners keep up with the restaurant as much as possible. I will definitely come back again. This is now my favorite restaurant in Louisa. read more

Food is good but service is not as good. Prices on menu are not what they charge you. They say we've updated our prices but haven't told anyone or updated them on the menu. So pretty much lie about what your meal is going to cost you and don't even tell you after they ring you up. Figure if you don't say anything, they won't either and they will make more $$$. Stopped for a late lunch/early dinner during a day of errands. Pretty basic restaurant, but everything seemed clean. I had the pulled pork sandwich, and my wife the pulled chicken. Both were very good and had a nice smoke taste. They had a couple of sauces, neither one of which we liked, but the meat was actually just fine without any. We had some onion rings as an appetizer, which were okay, as were the french fries I had. But the best sides on the table were the potato salad and baked beans my wife had. Both were awesome. Had an afternoon to explore the thriving town of Louisa, VA and decided to try Smokin' Eddie's BBQ. It was a casual experience, sit down and order - but casual enough that I initially thought we should order at the counter and sit down. The sauces were flavorful but not that spicy, and the meat came out very smokey tasting; and despite the name, I did not quite expect that. The brisket was pretty darned good, but the ribs were smokey enough to not really be great, though with enough hot sauce they got to be enjoyable. The surprise delights were the slaw and potato salad, neither of which is normally my thing, but they were very good according to my dinner partner! Skip the green beans; so overcooked as to not be worth it at all. The sweet tea was quite good, and the service was friendly, helpful, and willing to engage in conversation (which we welcomed) - highly recommend the service staff. read more

Passing through Louisa, we stopped for a quick dinner, but didn't relish the thought of a fast food joint. To our pleasant surprise, we stumbled upon Smokin' Eddie's. As usual, I asked what are the customers' favorites and we settled on a dinner with half ribs and chopped pork with cole slaw and baked beans. Not being as big a BBQ fan as I, my wife ordered the daily special of country fried steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Our granddaughter ordered the BBQ sandwich with Cole slaw and fries. The BBQ was excellent as the smokey flavor was rich in both the pork and ribs. The ribs were Memphis style with a good dry rub seasoning as the meat was perfectly done... Moist on the inside, easily falling off the bone. By the way, the portion size was great with 5 bones and a large serving of pork. The creamy slaw was just right, not too sweet. At many places, the beans are just filler; but here, my mouth was treated to soft and sweet baked beans with a great flavor. One note on the two available sauces... Home made and paired well with the meat. The daily special of country fried steak was good, but the mashed potatoes were great. All mashed potatoes should taste this fresh. The green beans were also country style, which is exactly what my wife likes. Even the French fries are worth comments... Hot and crispy. If you like sweet tea, you'll be happy here. Finally, we had to get banana pudding... Wow! Home made, smooth and flavorful, Donna assembled the masterpiece with great care. We were so full, we had to get it to go, but I'm SO glad we did. We rarely pass though Louisa, but I might have to make a special trip from time to time. I definitely want to come back and try the beef brisket. read more

We order them every time we go and they came out hot, fresh and crispy with a side of butter for dipping! I had the Monday meatloaf special with mashed potatoes and green beans. It had a nice little kick to it and was moist and cooked just right for my liking. Mashed potatoes were real and pretty good although I'm not sure if they used milk or water to make them. Green beans were homestyle which in the south means cooked to death, but that's how like 'em! I did not try their desserts but the cakes I could see from our booth looked really good.
