The enthusiastic reviews here, which I happened to see on the same day my wife decided we need to order out led to us trying Wah Sang. It's not bad. But just not bad, no better than that. More or less standard shrimp roll and shrimp toast, if a bit greasy. OK fried rice. Tried one exotic sounding dish; "hot and spicy shrimp in ginger sauce." Interesting, unusual flavor, albeit not spicy nor gingery. Delivery very slow; took 45 minutes after they said 30. Overall, not as good as nearby Little Fu's, but a bit cheaper. read more

Was looking forward to trying the food, stopped when I was rushing to a meeting that started at 1 PM. They only accept cash, and I only had my debit card with me. Tried all of the ATM machines within the store and the stores next-door. Because my card has a security chip, I couldn't use any of them. Bottom line? I drove to Marinara, a brick oven pizza restaurant on Peninsula. I had a slice of pizza and a soda & paid w/my debit card. Guess next time I'm in the area, I may stop by and try it... As long as I have cash in my pocket! BTW- the pizza place next door to this Chinese restaurant, is cash only too. read more

The staff is so friendly, I cannot express this enough!!!, they take orders over the phone and have an atm on site. in general the food is pretty good much better than your run of the mill chinese place. HOWEVER its extremely dirty..... they leave kids toys/play pen out let the kids run and stand on the counters... dont clear food off the tables they have... i stopped going there... its just nasty also everytime i would get it, there would be something in my food... weather it be metal string or something i didnt order... like lobster in chicken and broc... and then the rice sometimes just hard pieces... just went down hill horribly read more

We ordered a quart of shrimp in black bean sauce for a home delivery. Well to our surprise, when I served this dish onto our plates, my daughter had 4 shrimps and I had 3. So in total there were only 7 shrimps in a quart sized container! The rest of the container was filled with vegetables. Wow, they probably only put 3 shrimps in a pint sized container! Also the food was very bland and the vegetable fried rice was nothing but rice and a bag of FROZEN mixed vegetables. Won't be ordering from this place again! read more

Visiting area because parents were ill. I found this place through "YELP" when searching for Chinese food. It has lived up to its' reviews. I've become a regular. After being in town now for 3 months, I find myself eating here 3 to 4 times a week. It's a small take-out place, but don't let the size fool you. Portions are generous and the food is tasty. Although in no way their official creed, many attribute the motto, "neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night" to the US postal service... heh, well I think the delivery dude from Wah Sang thought it also applied to him during the last real good whiteout we had. I live literally just up the street, but when his duty called - he came through when nobody else would. A handsome tip earned. As for aesthetics... it's a take out joint. Seriously, what do you expect? Needless improvement of the small area where you stand while they cook your food will just raise the prices. Wah Sang is a lot cleaner than a lot of the joints you'll find in Flushing or Jackson Heights. Some people are just easily offended, though. Go live in a bubble. Speaking of the joints in JH/Flushing, that's what I compare Wah Sang too food/price wise, and Wah Sang is "at or slightly above par" in those areas. Speaking from a purely culinary standpoint, WS doesn't really stand out that much, but its the convenience that makes this place awesome, and also they know me well enough to where I've been able to order food, then pay them back in a day or two. read more

Have ordered from Wah Sang twice based on reviews found here on Yelp. I have to agree, this is the best Chinese take-out I have had outside of Chinatown. Food is fresh, tasty and no MSG. So far I have had Chicken and Broccoli and Curry Chicken with Shrimp Fried Rice. All three dishes have been wonderful. This is the first time I feel confident enough to work my way through the menu. Wah Sang continues to be the benchmark by which I judge all other Chinese restaurants. I have lived in NY, MA, FL, CA, CO, and MN. No Chinese restaurants that I've eaten at in any of those states going on 22 years now...come close to the quality and flavor of Wah Sang Kitchen. As I write this review I am eating Chinese food in Minnesota from a restaurant called Star Dragon. Their food is puppy chow compared to Wah Sang and Wah Sang is Iron Chef quality. When they first opened in the early 1990's my friends and I were teenagers and we were always craving Wah Sang's General Tso Chicken which is so freaking good it's like the General himself is in the kitchen preparing it. Oh Wah Sang, I miss you so much. If you are looking for chinese restaurant ambiance with motorized waterfall paintings, intricate wood carvings, and plush cushioned upholstery this place is not where to go. However, if you are seeking to feast on the very best chinese food and share a friendly conversation with the family preparing it for you then definitely drive over to Wah Sang and order food to take home with you. Know while you're eating that General Tso that I am not the only one living outside NY who is jealous. read more
