This review is solely based off of the Waygu smash burgers they well on weekends. I highly recommend getting there early since they tend to sell out. For about $15 you can get a burger, chips, and soft drink of your choice. As someone who doesn't typically reach for burgers, this one was amazing! I could definitely tell the two patties were made with quality beef with how tender and flavorful they were. I got mine with cheese, and it already comes with pickles, a house-made sauce, and potato buns. Keep in mind this place is not a restaurant, so don't expect a dining experience. They do have a small set up of tables and chairs with a tent outside their door if you'd want to sit and eat. Service was friendly and accommodating and I can see myself recommending this place!

Herbert's Specialty Meats on Richmond near the Galleria instantly took me back home. The moment you walk in, the number of items from Louisiana is delightful Their boudin, seasonings, and prepared items reminded me so much of my grandmother's gumbo, boudin, and rich, slow-cooked stews--comfort food that warms your soul. You can taste the authenticity and love in everything they make. This is the kind of place that understands balance, spice, and tradition. Customer service was excellent--friendly, patient, and genuinely happy to help you find exactly what you're craving. There are tons of choices, whether you're stocking up for a cookout or just grabbing something to satisfy that Cajun craving. For anyone missing Louisiana flavors or wanting the real deal in Houston, Herbert's is a must-stop. It feels like a little piece of "The Boot"

I came in with my parents today expecting a normal grocery run and left genuinely shocked by how we…read morewere treated. We saw softshell turtles for sale and decided to buy one. The seafood manager told us it would be over $60 and we said that was fine. He picked one for us and handed it to a worker to clean/prep. While we were picking blue crabs nearby, we saw the worker struggling. My mom politely tried to explain how to clean it properly (she wasn't being rude -- she was trying to help because the worker looked lost). The worker responded with a nasty attitude, brushed her off, and kept ignoring her while chatting with a coworker. Then the worker handed us the bag and said, "Next time I'm not even going to clean it for you -- get out of here!" I've never had an employee speak to my family like that in a grocery store. We were so upset we didn't even take the bag and walked away to finish shopping. At checkout, the seafood manager came over with the same worker and asked why we left it. We explained what happened. Instead of apologizing or trying to resolve it, the manager got rude and accused us of leaving it because we can't afford it. That's not only unprofessional -- it's insulting, especially because we agreed to the price from the start and were prepared to pay. And to make things worse, while the worker was chatting with his coworker during the prep, I overheard him saying words like "chinos" and "pinches." I'm not fluent, but I know enough Spanish to recognize when someone is talking about customers in a disrespectful way. It's disturbing to hear that in a store where a lot of customers are Asian. This wasn't a "bad day" situation. It was outright hostility from an employee and a manager who escalated things instead of doing his job. We only took the turtle after demanding an apology, but the experience was already ruined. I won't be returning. If management cares, they need to retrain or replace staff in seafood -- because nobody should be spoken to like that while spending money in your store.

The puff pastry was flaky, steak had good flavor, and the sauce paired perfectly. Calamari was standard. The ambiance was formal and very Texas forward. Great spot for a nice date night. Everything was a 10/10. My second time here was just alright. It might have also had to do with the fact that I went during Houston Restaurant Week and got one of their specials. However, the quality and service was just very different. Steak was ordered medium rare and came extremely rare. When we sent it back, they cooked it well done. Nevertheless, I would give it another try and recommend going outside of HRW. 8/10!

So imagine my disappointment when my beautifully cooked steak came finished with olive oil. Thankfully not much but enough to make me immediately say 'ughhhh'. You don't need oils to enhance beef!!! Bread service was amazing. Mustard butter incredible. Mashed potatoes were fine. Corn soufflé I took one bite of and gagged. So not good. Raw barely cooked mushy corn bread with wet corn, slimy peppers and cheese on it. HURK!!! Not good. Dessert however was sadly the most disappointing. A baked pecan dessert with ice cream. Ummmmm. It was a ball of ice cream baked Alaskan style with basically no pecans. Just some odd cookie pieces in it. Had they kept the steak plan I would say this was the best steak in Houston I've had so far but I can't even say that. Sides didn't save it. Service was fine.
