Another Chubby restaurant opened, so I knew I had to try it. There's not a lot of places in the country that specializes in sukiyaki, so I definitely had to try this place. I got the tasting menu and I did not know it turns to an ayce after the tasting is set. Poke Salad (5/5): Got this for the appetizer and it was amazing. Super fresh and flavorful. Chef appetizer (5/5); This was an absolute treat. It comes with slices of sashimi, Wagyu tartare, and chawamushi with ikiura. It tasted very luxurious and even though this place does specialize in sushi, it was amazing. Otoro handroll (5/5); comes with Uni and shiso leaf. Another luxurious dish to eat! A5 meats (5/5): Super fatty and sweet with sukiyaki. Runny egg don (5/5): I loved how runny it was and comforting with the rice In order to make my moneys worth I had to get full with ayce. I really enjoyed my experience here and I want to give a shout-out to my server Michael! He did a great job at explaining and cooking the dishes. I also loved his recommendations

SATIATED! 4.5 This was our first visit to Wagyu Master though we're already familiar with the Chubby Group through multiple visits to our local Mikiya Wagyu House and Niku X in Los Angeles. While all three concepts specialize in premium A5 Wagyu, each delivers a distinctly different dining experience. We arrived right at opening and there were a few seats already taken at the long, U-shaped bar. This restaurant offers only bar seating and has capacity for 30 guests at a time. There are purse hooks tucked beneath the counter, though a few more would definitely be appreciated. At first glance, the double-sided menu may feel a little overwhelming, but our server did a great job of simplifying everything. The primary experience really comes down to two key decisions: 1. Sukiyaki or Hot Pot, and 2 . Whether or not to add the AYCE (all you can eat) option. Along the way, there are a couple "choose one" selections and toward the end of the meal you're offered unlimited servings from three different Wagyu options, one A5 and two A4 meats. Our server cooked our meats in the style of "shabu shabu" where he gently swished the meat back and forth through the sauce. The Sukiyaki sauce is very rich and flavorful and can get a little salty if left in the pan for too long. Toward the end, we got the opportunity to shabu shabu our own meats. Initially, the pace was quite quick as we were enjoying our first selection, then the second dish was placed atop the cooking area in front of us. I'm used to a slower pace; however, I understand the nature of AYCE establishments. Once we were able to cook our own meats, we were able to slow the pace a bit. One especially helpful tip from our server was to wait until later in the meal before deciding on the AYCE upgrade, since it also unlocks additional sushi options. By the end of dinner, we were completely full and decided not to add it. For dessert, we chose the matcha ice cream and the matcha mochi. The mochi's texture was much softer and less chewy than the traditional style I'm accustomed to, so I swapped it out for the Matcha Mille Crepe cake in its place. We have the Chubby Club Plus membership and will definitely return to try the Hot Pot menu next time!

Came here with some friends on a Saturday and there was no wait at 5. It got a little busier by the time we left at 7 though but not terrible. We all chose the Sukiyaki set that comes with a few appetizers and a few wagyu dishes that the Server will cook for you on your station. We had Kevin as our server and he was very hospitable, attentive and friendly and answered all our questions. For the food, I thought some things were out of place such as the option for a Portuguese egg tart as an appetizer. Lol, so I picked the tempura and it was delicious. Then the handroll options were also good, I had uni otoro and caviar. Nothing too crazy. But when it came to the meats, I thought everything was way too salty. Even with the raw egg dip, it was still too much. I was reaching for my water glass after every bite. Yes the quality of the meat was great but i feel like the overpowering sukiyaki masked the quality. By the time we reached the ayce portion of the meats, I was already full. I can see why they have all the appetizers at the beginning to fill you up first. All in all this isn't my favorite restaurant but I think it was a decent meal for a someone else's special occasion.

We came as a group of 6 and since they don't take reservations, we showed up 10 minutes before opening to find a line already forming. Once they opened the doors though we were seated immediately, so the wait was short. One thing worth knowing before you go is the seating setup. It's all bar style with the staff working in the middle, which means if you come with a big group you'll likely be spread out and only able to talk to whoever is right next to you. For that reason I'd say this spot is better suited for groups of 2 or 3 max. I was at the end of the bar and barely got to talk to half the people I came with, which was a little unfortunate. Now the food. Really good. You get to choose between the sukiyaki route or the hotpot route, and here's a tip I wish someone had told me beforehand. If you go the sukiyaki route, you get way more dishes AND you can still do hotpot at the end. I went hotpot only and had a great time, but knowing I could have had both would have changed my order instantly. The one thing I'd skip is the lobster roll with uni and caviar. It sounds impressive but the roll is tiny, the inside is lobster paste rather than actual chunks of lobster, and the flavor was just okay for the price. Everything else was solid and the service was great. Would definitely come back, ideally with just one other person so I can actually have a conversation the whole time!

Overall, we did enjoy our sukiyaki experience at Wagyu master given that the restaurant was only half empty on a Wednesday night. The staff were very friendly. My favorite part of the meal was the beginning. Chubby plus members get free drinks so that was a nice perk. I liked the Ume soda. The pastel de nata was not bad, but it definitely helped fill me up. I should've saved it for after the meal. The chef special was pretty good as well. I got the hand roll w/ foie gras in there - I enjoyed it. I love chawanmushi so I'm already biased there. What I didn't love was the seasoning for the sukiyaki. It was too salty for my preference. The meat was still good quality though. The donburi was pretty good, but again, too salty because they use the sukiyaki sauce. I do very appreciate the chef checking about rice portion size before giving it to us. As for the desserts - I agree with other reviews. It was a bit disappointing. The Mille cake was not fully defrosted and the mochi has a weird consistency that is not mochi-like at all. For the price, I do expect everything to be good quality, hence why I dropped it to 3 stars. (Side note: I really don't know how I got so bloated even though I don't think I ate as much as I would at an ayce???? We didn't even order extra rounds of meat because we were so full.)

Wagyu master was great to try at least once but we prefer chubby cattle. Our favorite was the lobster rolls but some of the fixed menu included fish bento which we don't eat. The menu and membership was also slightly confusing. Ambiance was a little too casual for the price point. Service was also slow at times and the wait was super long with no reservation option.

Shabu is my absolute favorite food and my friend and I frequent Mikiya ever since it opened. Wanted to love Wagyu Master, but the lack of service made us realize we would not come back. Before 6 PM on a Thursday, it was already pretty full but there were still plenty of seats available for those that were waiting inside. After waiting 15-20 minutes, we were first taken to the handicap table which we wouldn't have minded, but it was next to all the dirty rags and that's all you could smell so we asked to move. They don't provide you with the general AYCE menu and seem to push the tasting menu, but we knew we wanted to do AYCE shabu and eat at our heart's content. We placed the order of appetizers, meats, and rice. We wanted to order some soda, but there's no way to order off the tablet. I ordered through a server, but after 10 minutes and him just standing around, I ordered through someone else. The nigiri, rolls, and handroll were very top notch! This was definitely a nice to have. However we came to eat meat and not just sushi. The lobster roll wasn't very good and the bread was overly toasted. The crab croquette was just a creamy mess inside and didn't like it. My friend and I both got the miso tonkotsu broth, but it was so salty! We had to keep asking for water to be poured into our broth. The veggie plate has good veggies, but quite small in portion but you can order more if you want. We ordered the ribeye and shoulder. Both were very good, the shoulder was surprisingly better, nice marbling. The ribeye was a bit too fatty for our taste. After our first round of meats...we waited at least 15 minutes for our next round. We finally asked one of the servers and another 5 minutes, half of our meat order came out. The second half never arrived, nor did our bowls of rice. Everyone was catering just to the tasting menu diners. Everything was taking so long and we couldn't enjoy as much meat as we'd like, especially as they gave us the 90 minute time limit. I thought that was unacceptable given we were just sitting with no food coming out. The matcha mille cake was icy and gross. For $108 the meal didn't fit our standards as we didn't get to eat as much meat as we'd like. Will be sticking to Mikiya for AYCE shabu going forward.

YOU GUYS!!! You really should starve yourself all day before coming here. The appetizers that come with the meal is already plentiful but then there's the meal itself plus theres an AYCE option. At first glance the menu is overwhelming. A server came and explained it to my party. I went with the BBQ and my friend went with the hot pot. The BBQ option is considered the show because they prepare all the meats and then serve it up. You really just sit back and enjoy. The hot pot is self serve so feels a little more relaxing. The slower pace would have been nice considering tons of appetizers came out in quick succession. Lots of seafood appetizers like tempura (the lobster tempura had a very wet and soft consistency), sashimi, egg tart thing with caviar I think. Then there is a waygu hand roll. These were my picks. There was also poke salad or lobster roll to choose from. The Waygu were pretty large pieces. Cooked down was still a few bites. The striploin was just okay. Ribeye was way better. Much more tender and flavorful. For the final dish I picked the Udon. It was cooked in all that Waygu juice left behind. So good! The dessert option was matcha mochi or matcha crepe cake. The cake was bitter. The server mentioned many people complained about the cake. I'm glad I was too full to try more than a bite. Highly ùnrecommended. My next visit I would go with the hotpot with ribeye. That just seemed to be the hit. It's pricey but worth it if you're into all the seafood.

Really surprised by the highly rated reviews here. My experience was pretty mediocre. We were first in line and got seated immediately when they opened. The waiters were very helpful in getting us situated and explaining the menu. However, we did have to ask for the Sukiyaki Lite menu (only available Monday - Thursday). Everything on that menu is the same except the meat is A4 instead of A5. After we placed our order, the appetizers come out pretty fast. The sashimi was fresh, but the king Alaskan crab was dry. Then it felt like we waited 30 mins for the meat to come out. For sukiyaki, the waiters cook the first round for you. For shabu, you just cook it yourself. I didn't think either the A4 or A5 was that delicious. For the price point, I feel like I should have had my socks knocked off. Overall a solid amount of food but Mikiya is way better, quality and quantity wise. I probably will not be back.

The Chubby Group keeps you in shape...ROUND but still a shape nonetheless. In this economy, AYCE just makes sense and Chubby Group is giving what the people want with their AYCE BBQ and Shabu restos. They've been rapidly expanding with over 25+ concepts (i.e. The X Pot, Niku X, Chubby Cattle, Mikiya, etc.) and aim to have over 1000 locations in the United States in the next 5 years. Waygu Master is their newest, upscale concept offering A5 Wagyu Sukiyaki and/or Shabu. A5 is Toriyama Umami Wagyu from Gunma Prefecture, Japan. M E N U For a first timer, the menu is confusing AF. It would benefit from either being simplified or more clearly explained. There's two tasting menus: (1) Sukiyaki, chef cooks for you ($98 pp/$85 pp member) (2) Shabu, DIY ($88 pp/$75 pp member) For a surcharge, you can get AYCE A5, sushi, and everything listed in the menu. NOTE: A4 WAGYU IS AYCE WITH NOOOO SURCHARGE. No alkie. No kid's discounted pricing. M E M B E R S H I P Chubby PLUS Membership is currently $58 for one year and works for ALL Chubby Cattle concepts: - Up to $26 off your first meal, and subsequent meals - Free tea every month - Earn points for special dishes - $55 off your birthday meal Existing local members, can upgrade for $28.88. For NFT lifetime membership, you receive 30% off every meal for all concepts, free food/drinks, access to rezzies + exclusive soft openings, and more. Price depends on crypto market. On the Saturday night we visited, I called ahead and was told no wait for their patio. Arrived in 15 minutes. However, after checking in, they decided to not open up the patio so we were seated inside. Weekend waits can be 2+ hours; we got lucky and waited 20-25 minutes. S H A B U T A S T I N G ($75 PP MEMBER) COURSE#1: TEMPURA - Shrimp, Snow Crab Croquette, and Sweet Potato Freshly fried, the shrimp tempura was hot and crunchy. The crab croquette was disappointing, more like runny mashed potatoes with no real crab flavor or noticeable pieces of crab. COURSE #2: ZENSAI - Chef's Daily Special * Sashimi - Hamachi, sake, and chutoro Fresh, smooth, and buttery! * A5 Wagyu Tartare BYO handroll, the crispy nori was a nice contrast to soft, richly marbled A5. A raw quail egg would have elevated it. * Chawanmushi w/ uni + ikura Surprisingly solid - the savory custard was silky smooth and jiggly with a savory sweet umami. COURSE #3: CHOICE OF APP - A5 Handrolls w/ luxe additions, O-toro Nigiri, Lobster Roll, King Crab Legs, A5 Teppanyaki, and more * A5 Wagyu Handroll w/ uni Rich, slightly smoky flavor of the torched A5 was delicious with the sweet briny uni. * A5 Wagyu Nigiri w/ foie gras Meltingly soft and buttery with a deep umami. I wanted more! COURSE #4: SHABU * Broths (individual pots): - Miso Tonkotsu: Too salty. - Sukiyaki: Fav of the two, imparting a savory sweetness but also too salty. Broths are not on par with Mikiya. Next time, I would get the sukiyaki and request to dilute it with dashi/hot water. * Meats - A5 Chuck Roll, Brisket, Shoulder Maybe we hit them on a good night - I found the A5 quality at Wagyu Master superior to Mikiya. The cuts were fresh, richly marbled, and not as thin (didn't tear easily). - A4: Three different cuts of Australian Wagyu Light marbling, quite lean but still tender. We were dying after one plate of the A4 so the AYCE A5 would be overkill. * Veggie Platter: Maitake mushrooms, carrots, corn, tofu, napa cabbage, and bean thread (?) noodles. Fresh, no complaints. * Dipping sauces: HK-style Seafood (XO vibes), Ponzu, and House Sesame All three were hella salty. Instead, I asked for a raw egg for dipping. Disappointing that the raw egg dip was diluted with water. * Carbs: Wagyu Curry Rice, A5 Gyudon, White Rice, and/or Udon N/A- Skipped. COURSE #5: DESSERT- Choice of Matcha Mochi or Matcha Mille Crêpe Cake (they need a non-matcha option) We shared a Matcha Mille Crêpe Cake - strong matcha flavor, slightly bitter and grassy. Felt like an afterthought tho so don't expect Lady M or Antoine Pâtisserie quality. S E R V I C E The host and our server, Kevin was awesome, friendly, and accommodating but spread too thin. Food came out quickly which I appreciated. A M B I A N C E Trendy club vibes with counter seating for about 30 people inside and about 5-6 four-tops tables in the shaded patio. Since you're facing the center with staff rushing around, inside felt chaotic. My biggest pet peeves: 1) When you're dropping $100 pp for a "high-end experience", rezzies should be available. 2) Since opening in late February 2026, I've been calling periodically to inquire when the patio will open. Each attempt required 8-10+ back-to-back calls like a stage 10 clinger...just to reach a human. Overall, we really enjoyed the shabu tasting menu - the quality felt a step above Mikaya and well worth the $75 pp (pre-tip). That said, insufficient staffing, indoor dining set-up, and the lack of rezzies took away from the experience.

I haven't had food that has blown me away in awhile but this place really hit the spot for me. Everything from the hospitality, food quality, and ambiance was fantastic. Fire playlist too from the moment we walked in. Looking forward to the next I come back :)

Denny was great! Came here with a long time friend to try the place out and was not disappointed. One of the better quality Wagyu I've had in the Bay Area, and the uniqueness of a 3-course sukiyaki meal during soft opening was well worth it. They have AYCE upgrade to the menu and let you choose to have more or less carbs, so you don't waste your own money thinking you can eat a lot from the beginning. Just the regular meal was plenty for us! Appetizers were amazing, and their specialty dishes like the Wagyu steak or Hand roll with Foie Gras were definitely highlights. Service was attentive as well! Came around 4:30 pm on a Friday and there was no wait, but there was already a line out the door when we finished so be prepared to wait. Would return!

My friend wanted to try this place out and I was happy to oblige. Definitely recommend doing the Yelp reservations in advance as you could be waiting for a good minute. Seats are limited. Ambience was chill not super loud. We were a party of five and God sat about an hour after joining the waitlist, the food was OK nothing special definitely like the sister restaurants more in addition the food I would say was not piping hot the way I usually like to enjoy my food since the first couple rounds is made for you by the Stuff. I do like how the face is going all but at the same time just due to involvement of it. It also increases how much time you have to wait for your food. The only thing that was really a throw off was the chicken karaage which was legit chicken nuggets ain't nobody gonna suede me any other way. The service staff was well trained and very polite I will probably try in the future

How much is the corkage fee?

They didn't have their liquor license yet when I went in April. You can call and ask

Do they have high chairs and kids friendly?

They had a few (very tall) high chairs. I wouldn't say it's too kid friendly since the restaurant inside is small and cramped. Outside there's more room if tables are open. I personally wouldn't take my toddler here but a baby would be fine.

Does their phone work? Cause no one ever picks up or returns messages?

I don't see where you can make reservations? Does this place take reservations?

They don't accept reservations. In the beginning, you can virtually add yourself on the waitlist. However, as of last night, we had to go in person to add ourselves on the waitlist.

Are they open all day (11-10) or close open separately for lunch (11-3) and dinner (5:30pm - 9)? Instagram says they are now open all day starting March 6th, but yelp & google say another; I tried calling but no answer.

    How is the food? I

Looks pretty but definitely not the quality advertise. You can go in for an experience but don't expect too much.

Are kids allowed? What is the age and pricing for kids?

We brought our baby in a stroller for lunch and they were fine with it. They had a few high chairs but I didn't see pricing for kids.

We were 10 minutes late (saying goodbye to children) and the restaurant was pleasant. Thankfully, they were still taking in orders for drinks and had not started. Drink menu is heavily concentrated on sake. Not being a heavy sake drinker, we naturally headed over to wine and beer menu. It is much slimmer pickings than the sake, but enjoyed our sparkling wine paired with the kaiseki very much. The dishes were all excellent. The thing that lingered in my mind even till this day, a week after I am writing this review, is that umami flavor bomb chawanmushi with mosel mushroom and uni (never can go wrong with uni). The other thing that I thought took more skill, attention, and was unique to the chef's background was their dashi/broth. It was a complex of flavors from the sea that all paired well together. I thoroughly enjoyed every sip, and the flavors waking up all parts of my tongue. One more part - the meat dishes were not my favorite. They just do the seafood so well. Oh! And dessert, of course, the Japanese melons were as if it was dipped in fructose lol Ambiance is dressy and date-worthy :) the elderly ladies beside me were sporting their Birkens and taking pics of their food next to it

Definitely not a standout dish, but the rest of the meal was delectable. Sometimes, you don't need vegetables during dinner. Had to order the hamachi carpaccio, unagi meshi, and green tea creme brulee as per usual, but the Nikomi hamburg was a pleasant surprise! The flavor profile is deeply reminiscent of a HK pork chop baked rice if juicy pork meatballs were used. The service is always friendly here and our food came out quickly! My only minor gripe was the pacing as we had 3 dishes on our small square table at one point in the meal. I understand though, since they clearly had a busy night ahead as the restaurant filled up quickly after 7:30 PM. Ambience is kind of loud due to the chatter and closely spaced tables. They really try to maximize the seating here. Make sure you wear socks in case you end up being seated in the carpet area.

My aunt asked if we could sit at a regular table instead, and the hostess asked whether we had any medical reason. I felt offended at that moment, and I also believe it's inappropriate and potentially unlawful to ask that kind of question. On top of that, while we were still eating, they brought us the bill halfway through the meal. Even though we understand there is a 90-minute dining limit, the whole experience made us feel like they were trying to rush us out. This is definitely not a place we would come back to or recommend to friends.

I liked their traditional izakaya decor inside. They also had a tatami seating area towards the back. We decided to go family style so that we could try more items on their menu. We ordered the Niku Trio Set, which included braised pork, grilled chicken wings, niku tofu, edamame, and shishito. The food came out really quickly. Other than the edamame, which was very bland, everything was very flavorful. The pork was very soft, and the sliced thin beef paired really well with the tofu in the niku tofu. Both dishes came piping hot, and were very comforting, like home-cooked food. The shishito peppers came with a lot of bonito flakes; they're charred very well and not spicy at all. Wings well nicely grilled, too. The seafood okonomiyaki was not bad. It's a bit softer than I expected, but had quite a lot of seafood. The large Deluxe Meshi was pretty big. It came in a hot stone pot with a generous amount of salmon, eel, flying fish roe and a poached egg. I loved how crispy the rice around the pot was. No wonder it's their most popular dish. If you like authentic Japanese food, I would highly recommend this place.

I had the Karaage Salad: FRIED BONELESS CHICKEN, AVOCADO, AND TOMATO SERVED OVER ROMAINE TOPPED WITH SESAME SEEDS, GREEN ONION, AND MAYONNAISE. In enjoyed this. It was a good sized salad. The chicken was nicely fried and tender, good flavor. The mayo and all the toppings made it into a good salad. I also have the AGE GYOZA: 5PCS OF FRIED GYOZA STUFFED WITH PORK, CHICKEN, AND VEGGIES. Nice flavor on the inside. The outside was chewy and crisp. My two items were very good. My friends like all the stuff they got. It was different fish dishes and raw stuff. Definitely not items I will eat but I managed.

I enjoyed how healthy, well balanced their food was and looking at each bowl, it's super colorful and that's what you want for a well balanced meal. Rice, protein and vegetables/fruit! On top of that the portions were really big. My favorite part is that there are hot proteins like chicken and bulgogi. Then there is poke in which I got the salmon and tuna. Seating was self serve, kind of like chipotle, after you order in the assembly-line style line. At first, I was kind of surprised to see that each bento-tray was ~$22, with no sizing options. However, the portion was massive, enough for one to be super full or to have lunch the next day! I liked how the bento was quite customizable. The restaurant is korean-fusion with poke, so there were many toppings, base rice that are more commonly linked with korean food. It was pretty good! The salmon was fresh and fatty. One of the fresher poke spots I have had in the bay. The toppings were fresh, and visually vibrant! I think my only critique would be the pricing and maybe having more options for sizing. Otherwise, you are getting what you are paying for!
