Wagner replaced my furnace while converting my swamp cooling system to refrigerated air last fall. When I started using my refrigerated A/C in May, I had a high pitched noise for the duration of the A/C cycle. I called Wagner to inspect the system. They came out and had a number of theories as to the cause - possibly the garage door seal, possibly the refrigerant line vibrating, possibly the supply air vent vibrating, possibly the condenser or condenser pump not pumping adequately. Well, it was none of these. And, nothing was found nor fixed. so the noise continued. Four days later - today - my observant wife who has an inquisitive mind, asked me about the return air vent because she noticed the return vent grille (high up by the ceiling) had the louvers/slats pointing upward. So, I removed the grille and reversed it so the louvers point downward, to allow the rising hot air to easily flow into the return vent. VOILA! The noise went away and the system began cooling much better than before. I had even shown the return vent to the Wagner technician, asking if the vent was large enough for the capacity of the compressor unit. He didn't notice or question the louvers pointing upward. Otherwise, the technician was courteous and made an honest effort to identify the source of the problem, however, to no avail. read more

Wagner Mechanical: If it was possible I would rate them zero stars. On May 7, 2021 my Brother received an estimate from Wagner Mechanical from the Salesman. We showed the Salesman around the inside and outside of the house so he could give us an estimate. We received the estimate that day before the salesman left. My Brother agreed to have the install done by Wagner since they could install it on May 19, 2021. My Brother gave them a $7,000.00 deposit so we could schedule the install. The install was scheduled for May 19, 2021. On May 18, 2021 we were called and told they were running behind on another job and if they could come on Friday 21,2021. We agreed to the change of date. Then they called back and stated they could do it Thursday, May20, 2021. Again we agreed to the change. We were told the technicians would be there between 8am and 9am on May 20, 2021. They arrived at 10 am. One of the technicians received a call, so we showed the other technician around. The technician that received the call came in and stated they were needed to go to another job, and that Wagner was sending another crew. They stated the other technicians would be there in about thirty minutes. About a half a hour later we received a call that they would not be able to install the furnace or AC unit due to the smell in my Brothers house. My Brother is a heavy smoker. The house was in the same condition when we received the estimate from Mr. Houge. No one advised us of any problems and we signed a contract and gave him a $7,000.00 deposit. I truly believe they were behind schedule on other jobs and canceled my Brothers install due to over booking. This whole experience was a big waste of time. We had other estimate's lined up that were canceled due to the fact we decided to go with Wagner due to the fact they could install the unit on May 19, 2021. We lost all that time when we could have been working with a company that would honor the contract they had us sign on May 7, 2021. I would never recommend Wagner Mechanical due to the way they treated my Brother. My Brother is 77 years old and is currently without a working AC. UNACCEPTABLE: read more

Overall, everything was great! The team showed up promptly. They said the AC/furnace installation would be completed by 5pm, and they were completed by 3pm! The only thing is that I was told in my initial appointment that I would get a wireless thermostat that I would be able to use with an app on my phone. They installed a basic thermostat and said they would be back out to replace it. It's been over a week, and I haven't heard anything. I reached out a couple of times via text message. I was told that they were forwarding my problem to the install manager. I haven't heard anything. I called the office today and was told someone would call me back to set up an appointment. We had Wagner replace a HVAC combo unit on our flat roof. The old unit used a type of Freon that is no longer in production due to environmental concerns I believe. We obtained a couple of competitive quotes and Wagner was very competitive. We LOVE our new unit, it's sooo cool so fast, it's amazing! We ran into a couple small snags as to be expected in a relatively large job and the Wagner team handled them all perfectly. I think the trait that most led me to leaving this review though is the people. Everyone we interacted with was great - they always listened to us and made sure everything was perfect in our eyes! After a cold snap finally took one of my 30 year old furnaces and repair delays throughout the city were rampant, wagner was able to install two 96%efficiency furnaces within days. They had inventory available, the technicians were fast and capable.. and the new two stage furnaces are quiet and will save on gas bills. read more

Nathan and company worked hard to fix our boiler and heat problem. They had to break up the concrete in the living room to repair the heat. The homeowners insurance will only pay for what was dug up and replace but Wagner refuses to itemize the bill. Nathan said he would help but has disappeared. My mother is on a fixed income and could use whatever help the insurance company will give her but Wagner refuses to cooperate. I would definitely not recommend Wagner. They are nonsupportive and ridgid when you ask for help. Caveat emptor! read more

It took Wagner's 3 service calls and 3 service charges totaling $500 to diagnose a dirty flame sensor on my HVAC. It took 5 minutes to clean the sensor. John the tech on my first 2 service calls was untrained and very confrontational. Service manager never returned any of my calls. So I thought I would vent my disappointment here. read more

I give Wagner high marks. The responded quickly and efficiently to my emergency call. They resolved the problem, at least initially. They replaced a motor in my swamp cooler. The next day, it didn't work. When I called , they got a technical out quickly. He discovered my thermostat was out. I had Wagner AC & Heating install a smart thermostat. Tech was friendly however stated builders used cheap wiring on home. Ac worked with thermostat. A month went by now we need heat. Thermostat not communicating with heater no fan. I called back and asked for a tech to come out. They said club members have priority and they could come the next week. I took the appt. even though they set me aside for a "club member". A service they sell. Same tech came back and stated remember you have cheap wiring insufficient for thermostat. They charged me a fee for having my own thermostat. He then stated it wont work and house needed rewiring and i needed the Honeywell home T 9000 which is the therm they sell. I had the honeywell T 9. Then stated i needed some type of board at the furnace. He was trying to sell me products i did not need. Then left me w/o an operable heating. Stated it was all he can do and charged me another $85 for call. I am extremely disappointed with this company and will continue to write reviews on google twitter and BBB for not leaving me with heat offering a reg therm just a very expensive one. I was charged $909.49 for a new power board for my heater that I didn't need. Now on the third visit another tech came over to take out the wireless control and install a thermostat wire. Now my heater doesn't work and I was told that they had to order a new control and motor. I'm having to pay for extra parts that were not needed in the first place. Instead of troubleshooting and finding the problem they are replacing parts and hoping to correct the problem as they go, at my expense I'm a licensed Electrician and I've never seen this type of troubleshooting done. For the price of what they are doing I could have purchased a new unit. read more

my tankless water heater has not been working. I goes into error code and does not ignite. most places I called did not have anyone that could work on them. I found a technician at Wagner who could. he charged a nominal fee to diagnose the problem. I was given the option of buying the part needed and they would install the part. unfortunatley, when the part arrived the same technician was not available to install it. so they sent another technician, who admitted that he was not knowledgeable with tankless water heaters. after installing the new part, the water heater went into error mode again. so he advised that my only options were to let them keep guessing which part to replace or just replace the entire unit. As they were not knowledgeable about tankless water heaters. I was charged for both service calls as well as the gas valve that may or may not have needed to be replaced. I am in about $1000 and still no hot water. It's $4000-$6000 to replace the unit. the "manager" is supposed to call me back to see what they can do for me... it's been almost two months without hot water, and counting. I definitely do not recommend this company if you are trying to repair a tankless water heater. read more

Unless you are a regular customer with a recurring preventive maintenance schedule and part of their "maintenance plan" you can expect to get the maintenance in about a month. To have that appointment rescheduled by Wagner on the day of the maintenance for a week later due to other calls they are working on is unsatisfactory. Individuals have to take time out from work to accommodate a scheduled appointment. To have to reschedule due to Wagner's "preferred" customer calls makes for a poor customer interaction. If you are on their plan you can get service the week you call. Follow-up call from Wagner's was to try and sell me their maintenance plan. Really? Told them about the rescheduling and was told that the reschedule was not due to preferred customers. The point is that it was still a reschedule for over a week later after already waiting a month. That said, when I initially scheduled I was told preferred customers come first and why it would take a month for me to get service. Thanks but no thanks. Went to someone else who scheduled me for two days later. read more

In early June, I went to Wagner Mechanical's website, looked over their services, and saw they had a deal going for swamp cooler start-up services. I took a chance and filled out the form they have on their site, asking for the service. Literally MINUTES later, I received a phone call from the company, and set up an appointment with them for the next day. I was told I'd receive a call from the service person to let me know when he/she would arrive. The next day, I was kind of antsy, hoping the person they'd send would come on time. Sure enough, I got a phone call about an hour and a half early, with the service man telling me he was ahead of schedule and could come earlier if I wanted. Since I had no other immediate obligations and wanted the work done sooner rather than later, I was happy for this to happen and said yes. He arrived right when he said he would, with a friendly demeanor to boot. I showed him where the air conditioner was, and he went to work. After a little while, he let me know that our air conditioner pads were calcifying from the air conditioner using hard water--he even showed me a picture. However, I told him that my husband and I had purchased new ones last year (in case he was trying to sell us some), to which he replied that they probably have another 3 years in them or so, which is a bit less than some pads but it's something to note for the future. I appreciated seeing the picture, him discussing the issue in further detail with me, and being notified of the problem without feeling like he was selling me something. After this discussion, he proceeded to finish the job. Before he left, we tested it out to make sure it worked properly. It worked better than it had in the past! I've lived with swamp coolers most of my life, and most of the time, when you turn one on, you have to let the pump run for a bit first to lessen any potential gross fishy smells they tend to have (and this will not eliminate all the odors anyway). But, when we turned the unit on, it did NOT smell much, if at all! It was shocking to me. The air conditioning throughout the house felt cooler than it had in the past, too--which was awesome. It was an efficient, pleasant appointment that left a great first impression on me, from the deal I got on the service to the actual appointment itself. Wagner provides excellent service!! They are extremely responsive. There is always someone on call. Anything service that is performed on call does not have an extra charge attached which is excellent. All of the Wagner employees that have come out to do work at my house have been friendly, knowledgeable and complete the work in a timely manner. I know that when Wagner is working on something, that it will be done right. On one of my service occasions, my husband and I went back and forth on when they should come out for service. Wagner Mechanical-Beware Price Gouging! We contacted Wagner Mechanical to fix two leaky shower heads in our house. The technician spent less than an hour in our house, replaced two cartridge filters (retail price at Home Depot was $50 each), and invoiced us for over $700. This is the definition of price gouging. On top of the that, the technician incorrectly installed the filters and had to come back a second time. We're very disappointed and would never recommend Wagner Mechanical. read more

Had them replace shower faucets and they also replaced other parts in our master bath shower. Bill was over 400 dollars and today (9 months later) the hot water refused to shut off. Wagner's team arrived on time to install an evaporative cooler, and were polite and professional. The installation went well, but the water source (exterior spigot) posed unexpected plumbing problems. Although it was not their error, Wagner expedited additional service to ensure a reliable water source. They stayed late to advise and implement a solution to get my new cooler fully operational. At the end of the day, I feel like Wagner provided what they promised, plus went the extra mile to provide higher-level consultation - I see why they get such great reviews. read more

We have used Wagner for a little over three years now and have no complaints. In 2016 we had them install a new evaporative roof air conditioner and remove the old unit and last year our furnace went out so we hired them again and the installation went fast and efficiently. All the techs were professional and did a good clean up. They had to remove a very large door located in the hallway to replace the furnace and I was concerned about damage, but it all went smoothly. We also use Wagner for the startup and shut down of the furnace and A/C in the Spring and Fall. Yes, they are a little more expensive than some companies, but I know they are a reputable local company. read more

I own a duplex that Ive needed serviced often. I prefer to hire local SB owners but sometimes the work isn't great. Wagner cost more initially but they knew exactly what was wrong by just asking 2 questions and taking a look. Plumbers before struggled to work on my duplex (built in the 50s, it has older pipes). I didn't waste any more money having different people try to problem solve or do services I didn't need. It was quick and professional. Definitely cost more than previous plumbers but at least Wagner got to the root of the problem, finally. read more

This company is a rip off. I have used them in the past, they do great work but overcharge on everything. And if they think they can scam you on unnecessary extra's they will. They attempted to charge me $168 for evap cooler pads. about $130 for plastic tubing that connects my swamp cooler to water heater. Those evap cooler pads cost about 30 dollars at home depot. I called Wagner Mechanical on a Saturday for a leaking bathroom sink. The technician was really friendly but arrived 4 hours after the call (the website boasts less than an hour for service). He did not have a fully stocked truck, contrary to what the receptionist said. He determined that a rubber piece in the faucet handle had failed and he could not fix it. He tried to turn the valve off by the wall, but cranked too hard, ripping the pipe open, and causing massive flooding in my bathroom. I had to turn the water off to the entire house to stop the gush. He said he didn't have the time or the parts to fix the problem. He said I would have to call on a weekday to schedule an appointment to get my sink functioning again, and it would likely take up to 2 weeks. As he left, he replied, oh and we don't fix drywall. So.... I paid a premium for this crap!!??? C'mon Wagner. This is a disgrace to your business. I will not be using your services again. read more

We have had wagner install a new heater and refrigerated ac. Very happy with the installation crew. Andrew and the boys were great. Not happy today with scheduling inspector to come out. Scheduled to take entire day off(1 month ahead of day). Get call today that the scheduling fax did not go thru and have to take another day off for another inspection date. Not happy about taking more time off work. Also not happy with Raul the salesman.
