On top of that, the pricing was very reasonable and much better than I expected. Thank you, Alex! David, the tech, was very knowledgeable about a lot of things. Including that the city had to be called out to shut off the water valve at the street since it was rusted closed. Thankfully that didn't add to the price at all. I'm not really familiar with how plumbing is supposed to work today, but I certainly am not a fan of everyone charging a fee just to show up and look at your problem to give you a price. I think that practice is BS. But it seems like everyone is doing that now. Would I use them again? Sure. They got the job done quickly.

The two technicians showed up on time yesterday (promised 9-10 AM) after sending an "on our way" text). They recommended using the pleated filters instead of the blue fiberglass variety. He had a 20"x25" pleated filter in the truck that was a little long for our space. So, he took a pair of shears, chopped off just enough, and used the cardboard form cleared of material to put a border back on! Voila! Another service was cleaning the fins (?) on the outdoor compressor. After turning off the power outside, he used a hose to flush out the accumulated detritus in the unit. Our system is back to working great again! I had a chance to speak with one of the brother/owners, Paul, this evening, to share my feedback on the service call. Sounds like a very nice guy. I thanked him for their well-trained techs.

Fast forward several months and all of a sudden there's a scary water stain on the ceiling in one of our closets. Our TPO roof is pretty new and under warranty, so I called our contractor. (Besides Duke City, we've had no work done up on the roof since moving in.) He immediately asked if we'd had a new AC installed because someone left a bunch of screws near the unit and stepped on them, leaving punctures in the TPO. Because it was damaged by someone else and not something naturally occurring, the repair is not covered by the warranty or insurance. I contacted Duke City with the all the photos and my invoice. I hoped they would help with the cost of this repair, even just partial help with it, but they've essentially said too bad so sad. My fiancé and I are getting married in May and money is tight. Now we have a fast spreading water stain with mildew and a new leaking roof that's damaged by a company that won't take accountability. I know it took a while to notice the damage, which was their excuse for not taking responsibility, but I find that incredibly disingenuous to say "sorry you didn't notice the pinprick holes we left in your roof fast enough". Sorry we live in the desert and it's just now monsoon season so it's the only time we'd be able to tell. Save your money and sanity. Choose any other company to do your heating and cooling.

There were a couple of minor issues after the installation, likely due to a miscommunication, but I contacted Brandon that evening and everything was corrected by the next morning. I really appreciated how quickly and professionally they stood behind their work. Overall, everyone I dealt with at NCB was friendly, responsive, and professional.
