This is our second time using K&J Electric and I can't say enough about Ken. He is prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced. Our first call was to have a whole bunch of little annoying electrical issues taken care of in our new (to us) home. His price was very fair. Fast forward 4 months and we had a problem with our front lights not working. Ken was happy to come out to troubleshoot the problem. After much searching, he pinpointed the faulty wiring, showed us what to do to to prep for the repair, and worked with us to schedule a time that was convenient for him to return. He really earned his keep on this one as the previous owners had some wackadoodle install the lighting. But, Ken got it all fixed up and left us in a much better situation, all for much less than a competitor had quoted us for the job. Before he left, I had him look at a couple other projects we'd like to tackle in the future and he was happy to give us some guidance. I will be calling him when that time comes as well as for any other electrical issues we may encounter. read more

Same day service for my minor repair job. Quick work, had the necessary parts and happy with the price. Would recommend.

Ken did a great job converting a 120V outlet to a 240V. He was professional and timely. He also found multiple safety issues for us which we were very thankful for. Fair price and great work, I'm glad to have found a reliable electrician. read more

Requested a quote for a NEMA 14-50 outlet to be installed for EV charging. He came out and looked at the garage and said he would be contacting me with a quote, but I never heard from him again. Based on other reviews, he may do good work, but keep in mind that he can also be flaky. read more

K & J has done work at my home several times. Each time Ken, is highly professional, always calls when he is on the way, and is very knowledgeable. He always takes the time to explain what he is doing, if you want to know, which I appreciate. Ken runs his business like we all expect it should be, and his prices are reasonable! Thank you Ken! read more

Ken responded very quickly and set up a time to get the project done. He showed up on time, worked quickly and efficiently, and was happy to teach me about what he was working on. I am grateful to him for getting my kitchen back up and running! Thanks, Ken! read more

My experience with electrical work by Ken of K&J Electric was totally satisfactory in several ways. I had two electrical jobs to be done; one was a repair job and the other an installation of a new kitchen ceiling light. While the installation could wait a while, the repair was more urgent - several GFI outlets inside and outside the house had no voltage to them. I checked Yelp reviews and called the two with the best reviews. Ken at K&J Electric had a phone message saying he would call back. I left a message and then called the other business. Before completing that call, Ken returned my message; after a discussion of the GFI problem, he said he could come directly to my home in less than 10 minutes, which he did. Although the GFI problem is not rare, arising from some original installation errors, this case did not succumb to the usual solution, so Ken began electrical detective work. After some difficult circuit tracing in my attic, he found the source of the problem and fixed it. I would have been more than satisfied with that, but we discussed the ceiling light installation, and he agreed to do that also, right then! Even though the installation was somewhat physically difficult, it was done fairly quickly, the new fixture was installed straight and correctly positioned, and the electrical work was entirely correct. This was a completely satisfactory experience - Ken was immediately available to do the work; he was highly knowledgeable and persistent in finding the problem; was more than willing to share his knowledge; and he did both jobs in one visit. read more

K & J Electric - Albuquerque, NM A super bad and rare thunderstorm with TONS of lightning managed to actually effect us in the South Valley of Albuquerque last night. It killed off an outlet in our kitchen that powered some pretty important devices for our home and kitchen. Barely slept with worry overnight about the damage done and how long we would go without. First thing this morning I sent out messages on yelp asking for help and quotes, and Ken got back to us immediately stating his more than reasonable price, and more importantly, he fit us in within a few hours of the day starting so we could get back up and running and it didn't impact our day! Hopefully we don't need any more work done, but we will come back to K & J for sure. Extremely highly recommend! read more

K & J Electric - Ken with K&J Electric - Electricians Near Me

Installed three fans and a light fixture. Fast, courteous, and skilled. Highly recommend!

Called Ken based on Yelp reviews. Scheduled appointment and he did not show, I was driving from Santa Fe, so it was a bummer. He called when I was already half way home, I turned around and he looked at the work necessary. A figured anyone can mis-schedule an appointment, so I requested a quote. Sent me an estimate, I agreed to it. I kept him abreast of the closing for the condo, so we could schedule the work. I left 3-4 voicemails and he never returned the call. So the rating is based on waisted time, since I never heard back from him, I had to start from scratch. The work to be done was over $1K, so I'm puzzled as to why submit a quote if you then decide not to return call, emails or text. read more

We recently had an issue with some flooding and were concerned because water had seeped into some of our lighting fixtures. I was thoroughly pleased with my experience. Ken was quick to help, kept his word, followed through, and was well-prepared. It's rare to find someone so no nonsense and efficient these days. He replaced my dryer electrical outlet and thought ahead to bring a dryer cord in case it had gotten burnt (it had). My dryer is back up and working better than ever. I would definitely recommend K & J to others. read more

Great experience using K& J Electric to have an outlet installed in my hall closet so I can charge my vacuum! Arrived on time and finished the job quickly. Very friendly service and was able to come out to complete the job with in a few days of request! read more

Absolutely god awful I've never dealt with this level of unprofessionalism and lack of responsibility. my AC was out for nearly 3 months because every time they sent out a technician they were not able to fix the unit and would maybe spend 15 minutes before just stating they couldn't do anything and leaving and then not contscting back for a follow up appointment for 2-3 weeks at a time. My AC is still broke and I've had to go with another company at this point, who is running into issues trying to fix the unit because the K&J workers made a huge mess of the unit when they came and worked on it so not only has the situation been worsened but now this is taking even longer and I had to go to a completely different company who Now has to fix K&Js mistakes. extremely dissatisfied a complete waste of time and money read more

2019; We had a light fixture in the garage go out. After changing the bulbs, to no avail, we searched yelp for an electrician. K&J Electric had amazing reviews. I reguested a quote and the next day Ken called and we made an appointment. He called prior to his arrival and arrived exactly 15 mins later. Ken diagnosed the ballast removed and replaced it and the lights functioned perfectly. I will be using K&J Electric for all our electrical needs in the future. Ken was on time, professional and extremely knowledgeable. It is encouraging to find a service this reliable. Thanks Ken! Update: 4/29/21 Once again we had a ballast that needed replaced in our garage. I left a message for Ken at K & J Electric, he contacted me the next day and made an appointment. He arrived on time and got right to work. After diagnosing a loose wire on our switch he quickly changed our second fixture ballast and we were in business. We are very thankful to have found a professional electrician. We will be calling Ken at K & J Electrical for all our electrical needs. Thanks again Ken! read more

I needed an electrician ASAP to fix my main kitchen light fixture, which blew out late in the afternoon. I saw that K&J Electric came up first on Yelp with many 5-star reviews, and was also highly recommended by my neighbors on Nextdoor.com. So I called Ken after 4pm and explained the problem. He asked some questions to determine the scope, then said he'd be at my house THE VERY NEXT MORNING at 8am! Ken was on time, professional, knowledgeable, and quickly installed a new ballast and LED tubes to replace the blown ballast and T8 tubes. He also looked at several other fixtures in the house that hadn't been installed correctly, and advised what should be done to correct them and improve the lighting quality - and he provided quotes for all this, plus quotes on some additional indoor and outdoor lighting work that we've been planning. I highly recommend Ken and K&J Electric for any lighting or electrical needs. It's a relief to find someone who's reliable, knows his stuff, has many years of experience, and has so many satisfied customers. We will be hiring him again for the additional work! read more

So grateful to have found Ken (Thank you Yelp reviewers!) after returning to the "(505)" and an electric gate that wasn't getting power to it. When I called him he was very clear that he didn't really work on electric gates, but could help me with the electricity issue. As a long time homeowner, I do my best to figure things out before calling in a pro, but this was my main entry gate and I didn't want to mess around other than to disconnect some hardware so I could open and close it manually. Ken quickly figured out it was just a switch at the motor that somehow (a squirrel??) got turned off. Ken was professional and kind enough not to make me feel dumb about it and went out of his way to help me get it all put back together and re-calibrated, even though he "doesn't work on gates". Thanks Ken!! I will definitely call him again for any of my future electrical needs and I have already highly recommended him to other neighbors. read more

A friend referred ken and we used to install new ceiling fans in every room in our house. He came in and got to work. He was very knowledgeable and had a few helpful tips that will save us time and money in the future. He had to come back a few days later and both times he showed up on time and got the job done. I am very pleased with the work he did and will definitely be calling him for all our electric needs. read more

I've used K&J a couple of times. Ken is a straightforward contractor who is very professional and does good work.

We had quite a puzzling electrical problem. Called Ken's phone on a Sunday night, he returned the call and was here when he promised the next day. He worked through and found the issue about as quickly as we could have hoped, and fixed it right away. He explained what went wrong and didn't try to upsell an expensive solution. We've used Ken before, and we'll certainly call on him again. read more

I called Ken last week and left a message to call us back at his convenience as we had a few quirky electrical issues that we wanted to resolve. He called us back a day later & his next appointments was just a couple of days later! As I said, it was not an urgent need. He showed up at the agreed-to time (I love it when people are as punctual as I have always been!) He is very personable and exudes confidence. I ran down our punch list & he had all the parts in his truck that would be needed to do the work we requested. He repaired a broken overhead fan switch, swapped out a couple of GFI sockets (cheaper indoor ones had been installed outdoors (typical ABQ I hear) and gave us some good advice about our quirky garage door system. All in all, he did a great job for us at a competitive price. We recommend Ken if you need a competent licensed & bonded electrician for your home repairs. read more

Called Ken as he was highly recommended by a friend. I sent him the inspection report so he could get a better sense for the issues that needed fixing. He did come out and to survey the project and I could tell he had tons experience based on all issues he was able to point in addition to the report. I was excited to work with them and get everything going. I was told I would get an email or callback for an estimate on the quote that afternoon or the next day. Gave it a couple days as I figured business had picked up. I have tried contacting them since with no response. If their schedule is fully booked, I would at least appreciate a response letting me know that they're unavailable to work with me for the time being. read more

Ken from K & J Electric helped me the same day I called. I had a bad experience with another electrician, Kevin from Desert States Electric, (see review on him), and Ken was able to come by and take care of the issues I had with my ceiling fans. He also saved me a lot of money by checking everything before buying new ceiling fans (didn't need new ones after all). Everything works great, and I know to keep his information and number for any electric issue my home may have in the future. read more

Had a problem with a socket and got same day service. Literally came within 2 hours of my call. These reviews are no lie - Ken is great! Very professional, fast, knowledgeable, never talked down to me (stay at home mom with a sick and snotty baby on her hip the whole time) and was very patient despite the fact I had a million boxes stacked up in an area of the garage he needed to access. Would happily use his services again. Very pleased. read more

Ken is awesome! He truly knows what he is doing, does it well and less expensive than some. He also let me purchase the materials from Lowe's with my discount, but had other stuff available if needed. Chose K&J based on Yelp review and they are spot on. Ken showed up before appointment time. He offered advice on phone while making the appointment. Detected problem within the 1st five minutes of being onsite. While onsite he checked GFI outlets on the outside of the structure and found that two were not operating properly (not the reason I called him for). Ken was very friendly, offered advice and was very knowledgeable. Charges were reasonable. I would definitely recommend K&J for your electrical installation or service needs.
