I have a carrier condenser and the motor for it should be widely available at most hvac supply houses . They send one of their highly qualified rip-off artists who proceeds to tell me he'll do it for $1800. I just started laughing at him and realized what kind of company I was dealing with. I used to do plumbing and hvac in the eighties. The only reason I called a company to come over is because I'm 73 years old now and had a recent liver transplant and throat cancer a few years back. But I still planned to do it myself but I can't buy the motor at a supply house. Which is why I decided to call a contractor. Oh boy I wish I had read the reviews. Just my luck I called a company whose "techs" are a fleet of out of control thieves . I'm not sure if they have the owners blessing to be out there robbing people for whatever they can get away with but it's a good example of why you don't want to put your techs on commission if you won't keep them under control. So anyway I did find a motor that would work at Home Depot for $149 but the mounting was all wrong so I spent 3 hours retrofitting it.
