Very disappointed and disgusted with my experiences with Wagner Mechanical. Beginning in 2016 with the purchase of an older house, I called Wagner out to service the existing swamp cooler. They indicated the unit was shot, and were quick to suggest a "comfort specialist" come out to discuss options for replacement. The individual who came out was slimy and had a used-car salesman vibe. I asked about a variety of options, but he was quick to shoot down ductless mini splits and AC without even giving me a quote, indicating these would be "over 25,000" all told (turns out, after getting bids from 5 other HVAC outfits, that minisplits are more in the 12k range for my 1350 sq ft house, by the way), and only seemed interested in selling me on a Breezair evaporative cooler. I agreed, despite the 5500$ price tag, with the agreement that Wagner would replace some of the ductwork in the downdraft. When Wagner showed up to install, they indicated there would be an additional, significant charge to replace this ductwork. We ended up working out a discount when I argued that it was supposed to be included in the quote, but it took getting a service manager out to explain the issues and the promises that the salesperson had made, and still added several hundred dollars to the estimate. In fairness, the install crew were very respectful and professional. Curtis S. was a gentleman, and if you do decide to go with Wagner, see if he can come out for any install. Over the course of the next 2 years (2016 to current season), I had no less than 6 separate issues with the swamp cooler. The amp draw on the motor was always causing problems as it was not drawing proper power, resulting in the fan speeds not changing (Breezairs have numerous different gradations of speed when they're functioning properly), and finally, in the 2018 season, the unit began to shut itself off randomly. Every time the swamp cooler was started up after the cold season, it would have these same issues. One time I had to have the technicians out twice in the same day. The service manager himself finally came out and replaced the motor, and it was still having all of the same issues thereafter. In the most recent startup, it was discovered that my hose bib had sprung a leak. The tech that came out at that time to perform the service grabbed an iPad and dialed up a quote for replacement: MORE THAN 450 DOLLARS, just to replace a simple hose bib. My father in law and I replaced the piece for $4.99 from Samons and the cost of some teflon tape, all in about 3 minutes. Exasperated, I called up to speak with a manager, as I was at the point of either having them take the unit and refund me, or I was ready to involve a lawyer for breach of contract. The manager I ended up speaking with, Gary, came out with a Seeley (brand) representative. They made a lot of promises that turned out to be completely hollow: the Seeley representative stated he would extend the warranty by 3 years, Gary gave me verbal commitments (always get this in writing with these guys, on the spot, by the way) that he would, at no cost to me, hardwire the unit (he stated the remote was causing the issues), remove and replace the unit when I went to reroof, and add in the service contract that the reps would adjust the belt/fan speed/amp issue with startups. When I tried to contact him to get written commitments on all these items, the only thing he addressed was the hard-wiring of the unit. Did not respond to requests for the written commitments at all. Long story short: RUN, don't walk away from this outfit. Hollow promises, condescension and a battle for any warranty service is all you're in store for. I'm so eager to wash my hands of this nightmare of a company. Learn from my mistake: get multiple bids and look for a company with previous customers that will attest to their integrity. read more

Never again. Please do not call them for anything. The worst business practice I ever experienced. They came and looked at my air conditioner, and they will be back in 3 weeks to install. Paid almost a $6000 deposit. Three weeks later, they came back and stated that they do not have the expertise to install. They are too incompetent to figure it out. Why make us wait three weeks? Could you not tell me that you can't do this install? I found someone else to do the job. Never use this company for anything. read more

Awful. I wasn't home when the technician came to look at our broken furnace, but heard he was perfectly nice. After the $95 inspection for a repair quote, I was sent a quote for $1100-$1300 depending on the type of repair, or an option to replace the whole unit. Their explanation for the high repair cost was "it's a simple part to repair, but VERY expensive and hard to find." My father in law let us know that that's absolutely insane, took a quick look at it, found the part in town for under $60, and repaired the furnace in 20 minutes. He's a retired pharmacist, not a repairman. It's been working perfectly since. Avoid at all costs. I was ready to pay a few hundred for their expertise, time, and the part itself, but this is just insane. I never leave reviews but this warranted one read more

Are technician was polite efficient. He was a nice guy. He fixed our furnace in just minutes exactly what was wrong I will have Wagner go do my heating and cooling in the future. I am very pleased with their service and I highly recommend them. read more

I signed on for a maintenance membership with Wagner Mechanical and a few months later decided to cancel the monthly payments for the membership because I no longer required home service. A few months after termination of services I discovered Wagner Mechanical had still been taking money out of my bank account for the services I requested by phone to have stopped. I immediately called Wagner to ask why they were still taking money from my account AFTER I had requested to have my services stopped and was told by their manager, a woman named Sara, that because she called me and did not reach me, she decided to keep the service going." I am not too happy with the dishonest practice of taking money from my account AFTER I clearly asked to have the service terminated. And so because of the actions and troubling explanation I received from their manager, who to date, a week after I spoke to her, has not refunded my payments, I will no longer ever do business with this company. Customers deserve honest and fair treatment; the manager at this outfit is, in my opinion, a con artist who cares little about customers and more so about the money she rakes in. read more

Been having quite a few challenges with Wagner related to an AC repair. Paid half down (thousands) for Wagner to install a new compressor and check for leaks, waiting one week for the parts and after one day after install, the system froze up! Unbelievable, it was on the weekend and although a tech came out on Sat since the system was frozen, they couldn't work on it until Monday - the rep assured that we would be put on first AM call on Monday but didn't come until after 2pm. When they did come, they put dye in the system to identify any leaks (which should have been done initially a week ago). Then we were told they have to wait overnight for the dye to work thru the system - so again, another day the poor tenants have been suffering in this heat! We again requested first AM call and were told that wasn't possible so again, we have to take off work and wait around for Wagner! At this point we don't have confidence of the competence of Wagner's service. We shall see if the system is fixed tomorrow but to-date, the whole experience has been very frustrating and disappointing!! read more

BEWARE: Asked them to locate a leak which they identified was under the garage floor. Tore up the garage floor and dug and dug. No leak found. Ask them to return and re-identify. Leak was again determined to be in the same place. Dug some more. No leak found. Leak finally emerged a week later out in the front lawn 54 feet from where they said it was. Further, their original estimate to actually repair the leak they mis-identified was over 3 times the bid from 2 other licensed reputable plumbers. Needless to say I had the forethought to get other bids and I did not use them for the unnecessary excavation. They would not take responsibility for the mistake or the repair of the hole in the floor or the drywall that had to be removed. Be careful with these guys. read more

I had an appointment with Wagner and there salesman Jim Stuart was the most informative and helped us make a decision we are very happy with. He addressed all our issues in the home and came by during the installation with donuts , love donuts lol. Instalation and quality of work was truly amazing. Really quite impressed with this company! I called today when another company that was at my house was not able to help. They got me scheduled in the same morning, which was extremely fast and unexpected. The woman who answered the phone was super pleasant and professional - great first impression. When the technician was at their previous job, someone called to let us know that he would probably be coming in an hour. Then we got both a text and a phone call when he was on his way. The text was great! It had his name and picture! It was nice to have a visual on the person coming, so you know you are letting the right person in your house! He was efficient and pleasant. He was able to quickly fix the issue and then emailed the recommendations and quotes. It was an amazing experience. I will definitely use the company again. read more

I made the mistake of using them to start up my swamp cooler last year. I won't do that again. The guy they sent out had trouble getting the outside connection working right. Tightened everything down so much that it broke parts. Left it so that I couldn't turn the knob on the faucet and I had to call him to come back. At the time I said that I would run out to the store to get new parts- but they told me no- don't bother- he would bring them. He brought them alright. They charged almost $100 for a part I buy at Samon's for $6 or less. They still left my outdoor faucet so tightened down that I can hardly turn it. Warning! do not use them for this service. read more

Scheduled morning appointment but learned from the dispatcher at 9:40 a.m. that no one could be there until after 3 pm. When I asked why I had been bumped so late the dispatcher informed me they use an "open schedule" and "emergencies" pushed my job back. When I pressed her about making a morning appointment but not keeping it, the dispatcher blamed the "new" person who made the appointment, then hung up on me. When the plumber did arrive, he didn't have parts and had to leave to get them, even though I had described the work when making the app't. My bill to fix three under-sink valves was $490. And then, when I inspected the work, the plumber had "fixed" a valve that wasn't broken and left a broken one unrepaired. When I reported the problem, I had to leave a message and no one ever returned my call. Good reviews must be from other locations (not Albuquerque). Headquarters seem to be out of state. read more

We had a leak in the shower at this rental property. MARIO at Wagner Mechanical was professional and repaired the issue. He also advices us of possible future repair to update the fixtures. It was so great to work with such an efficient and friendly company. I highly recommend them and will be using Wagner Mechanical when we decide to update our shower. read more

I am leaving another review of Wagner to reflect my further experience with them and to emphasize how expensive they are. Our central A/C unit finally failed. It's a rooftop comfort package, with heating and cooling together in one unit. I honestly think that the tech did something to hasten its demise since it was working weakly when he arrived (which is why I called for service) and was not working at all when he left. However, it was time to replace it. Without going into a lot of detail, I got an estimate from Wagner first. It seemed expensive, but they especially touted their 12 year parts and labor warranty. Then I got two more estimates. We ended up going with another company that was $3,000 cheaper, for a more efficient unit, with a 10 year parts and labor warranty. Plus, Wagner left me with no literature on the unit they proposed...just a handwritten estimate. The other companies left me with piles of pamphlets and booklets with specs and links for further information. My point is to be sure to shop around. I did not have a problem with Wagner's service in the time I was with them, but they were always expensive. And if you do choose Wagner to install equipment, be sure to understand just what you will be getting. read more

We called Wagner because our AC unit was blowing air but not cooling. They were able to come out for a service call within 2 days, which during a heat wave was acceptable. Our Carrier household unit is only 3 years old and still under warranty. The technician spent some time examining the unit and could not readily find the problem. We were told the estimate for repair would be approximately $1,800 and would likely take 4-5 hours. Shocked at the price we asked for an explanation. The technician said he would have to disassemble the entire unit to find the problem, fix it and then re-assemble the unit. We declined service because $1,800 was nearly half what we paid for a brand new unit. We were still charged almost $90 for the service call. We were able to get another local AC company out after a few more days. Their technician diagnosed the problem within the first 10 minutes (leak in the coolant line). Fixed the problem, recharged the coolant and was finished within an hour or so. Total charge was $200. It's now been two months and we've had no problems since. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Wagner for AC repairs. read more

Sold my 78 year old mother a gaspack (combo gas heater and refrigerated air conditioner unit) and installation for $12,000 to cool/heat a 1600 sf tract house. 5 minutes of research shows that a 3 to 4 ton unit is more than adequate for this size of house (under $4k retail, plus install). Took advantage of vulnerable senior citizen in a time of crisis. Shame! read more

I called and explained to the operator that I had a swamp cooler that broke but was interested in getting a quote for refrigerated air as I would rather spring for that instead if continually pouring money into my swamp cooler. They scheduled a person to come out that day, Jim Stewart. He showed up and quoted me $12,000-20,000 as soon as he walked in the door! He never looked at anything, seemed bothered to even be there. What kind of an "estimate" is that? Total waste of time. I kept trying to ask questions saying that's a huge range, I mean he was there why not look at the place and tell me exactly what is going to be! I thought that was the point of showing up in person. He could have just said that over the phone. Never showed me any options, only said the cost varies based on technology. He said we can start tomorrow. I'm thinking: doing what?! You haven't explained anything to me or even looked at my system. It was truly odd. Their website makes it look like they do it all, but he said he doesn't work on swamp coolers and the solar refrigerated air option they list online, they don't do anymore. I had furnace issues over the holidays with very cold temperatures. They got to me as soon as they could. I greatly appreciated the phone calls to update me several times during the day as to when they would be able to get to my home. I am very impressed with Wagner mechanical. I have used them to install recessed lighting as well as servicing my swamp cooler and furnace. Both the electrician Matt Nelson and HVAC tech Todd Smith were professional, courteous and knowledgeable. No hidden fees and appointments were kept on time which I have not experienced with other companies in town. I would recommend Wagner without reservation to family and friends and plan to use them for maintenance and home improvements. read more

Wow- the kid they sent the first time didn't know anything. I suspected I at least needed a wax ring replaced. He moved the toilet and the flange was broken. He came back the next morning. I should have known better and been watching him. Before replacing the flange, he drilled a hole all the way through my slab and filled the hole in the dirt and the slab with wet sand and dirt he dug up in my yard, also using it to grout the tiles near the toilet. I had him put a new flush valve on. It's a Sterling toilet with the triangular tank to bowl washer. I had the parts but the diagram on the new tank to bowl washer package made it look like the plastic ring and washer went on the outside of the toilet so that's where he put it. The flush valve had no washer inside the tank. Luckily he took a bunch of pictures so I sent them to the company. They sent a couple more experienced guys back within two days who fixed the hole in my slab, using polymeric sand and Quikrete but even they didn't notice the way the flush valve was put in and suggested I had water running into the bowl because of the fill valve. I left it for a week, as the second guy suggested to allow the Quikrete to dry and then changed the fill valve and then had to take the tank off and fix the flush valve the right way myself. Not ever calling them again. Oh yeah- even though I had brought rugs in from the garage to set the toilet on, the kid scratched up and chipped my saltillo tile in numerous places. They did a great job in installing a new A/C. I requested information on maintenance plans; I'm still waiting for him to drop this off.

We had recently moved into the area (April 2020), and needed failing Swamp Cooler replaced with A/C. Asked Wagner Mech. for an estimate. Estimator agreed with our request for A/C, took measurements, etc......were then sent an estimate. However, estimate included AC AND Heating unit.....when questioned, Wagner Mech. stated that this was the only unit we could purchase, andthere was NOT a-stand-alone (AC Unit offered). This, we were nevertold, until the estimate was received. The smoke/mirror game begin, we were never given a straight answer as to why an AC was not available without the Heating. They ordered the combined unit without our authorization, delivered it for installation......at that point we gave up trying to straighten the matter out. Essentially we agreed, under duress, to have the unit installed. We were pleased with the work done by the crew, but ended up paying $3,000 over what we wanted for a simple AC unit. Read your estimates carefully, beware of Ad-ons...it appears that no one will answer your questions, return your calls, or makes decisions. We were in the midst of the COVID crisis, the stress of moving was almost unbearable. Further major plumbing were opted to select ANOTHER well known busisness, and received excellent prices and service. I will not ever recommend Wagner Mechanical. read more

My two little boys decided to each flush a partially eaten apple down the toilet. Needless to say my toilet got clogged. I was able to get one of the apples out but the other was jammed in the pipes. Based solely on reviews from Yelp and Google I contacted Wagner Mechanical. I am very happy I did. Every person I was in contact with on the phone (emergency/after hours line, dispatcher, plumber) was friendly and helpful. Wagner Mechanical got a plumber to my house within an hour which was very impressive. Efrain was the plumber who came out to my house. He was personable and enjoyed my kids watching him work. Wagner Mechanical gave me quote on the phone for a drain clean. When Efrain arrived he gave me the drain clean quote also and told me exactly what he would be doing before he started to work on the toilet. He also prepared me for a worst case scenario, removing the toilet to get to the apple. He kept at the toilet for a while with his auger until he got the apple broken up in pieces small enough to go through the pipes. I'm happy he kept at it so he didn't have to remove the toilet which would have been more pricey. I couldn't have been happier with my experience. I'll be contacting Wagner again if I have any plumbing, electrical, or heating and cooling needs in the future. read more

I called Wagner because my swamp cooler wasn't working on startup after the winter. I had checked it out and told them it was the bearings- since I had replaced everything else. The tech came out and said it was the bearings but they couldn't replace bearings because it might hurt the shaft....cost me $82- they didn't plan on fixing it in the first place- just took my money for the diagnostic Never again read more

I had a very bad experience with Wagner. My heat went out on 23 Dec. It came back on but called them and they came out on the 28th. The unit needed cleaning, which they did, but also charged me $600÷ for part they said were bad. 2 weeks later the heater had the same problem. They came out the same day and adjusted a gas pressure they was too high. Next morning, same problem. This time I called TLC. The guy spent 10 minutes looking good me it was a failing controller board. When they replaced it they showed me the s rich marks on the board. They charged me $ 600 to replace that and a sensor. The really bad part was when I told Wagner about it. They had a manager call me and try to convince me everything they did was right. He also said they told me I had a bad board (they didn't) and gave me an estimate of $1200 to replace it! I'm not fighting them for my money back, they obviously charged me for parts I didn't need, and would have overcharged me for the one I did need! I recommend steering clear of them. read more

Simply Stated, We had some scheduling and equipment issues. Install crew was helpful, did a fantastic job! Electrician did install a "used part" in our brand new home (old worn circut breaker, they are coming to replace this) salesman was supportive and addressed concerns pre-post sale, no games or gimicks. Overall, we paid more for their services for refrigerated a/c but thus far we are satisfied. If anyhting changes we will re-post. read more

I am not going to beat around the bush, very disappointed with Wagner Mechanical. I called to make a appointment to possibly upgrade to a newer unit from the 2007 unit we already have. I made the Apt with the scheduling sales lady and was on the phone with her for at least 15 min answering a series of questions to identify my needs for the APT seemed legit at the moment. I explained to her it was crucial to get the ball rolling and that funding was already available if need be for a new unit due to the fact that the temps outside are already hitting triple digets and didn't want to leave my kids or wife stuck in this heat due to some issues with my current unit. She made sure to make it a point to have my wife there for the apt to sit down and chat with so everybody is on the same page about making the choice to upgrade. Day of 930am APT now 10 am and nobody showed up, keep in mind I took a unpaid day off from work for this apt so I called and asked why nobody has shoed up for my APT and was transferred to the same lady I made the APT with initially. I asked her what time she had put me down for the APT just to make sure I wasn't jumping the gun and she had no recollection of the apt or anything we had discussed for my APT. I am not going to give out named but the managers and owners know who I am talking about. I explained to her that I was not happy and she could care less and was quick to just want to move on and didn't seemed bothered by her mistake and that we are all a dime a dozen type attitude. I asked for a General manager and the GM would not take he call a pushed it off on a sales manager when I specifically said I wanted to talk to the GM not a sales manager. Got the standard same old sob apology that any company gives and he also made no effort to want to offer somebody to come out anyways or another near apt. A $3000 to $8000 dollar transaction must be petty to them. I don't recommend this company and wanted to share my exp to others in the market. read more

Wagner installed a new Evaporative Cooler, motor and thermostat in Feb 2012. My question is were the thermostat and motor really new? They both only lasted 3 seasons, and when the electrician handed me the old thermostat, it had a manufacture date of Jan 2010. I have never had both go out at the same time, and even motors made in China have lasted a lot longer. So I have to believe They were not new. Will not use them again read more

Excellent same day service for preventive replacement of 15 yo water heater with new 50 gal Bradford White Defender water heater. Sean arrived exactly on time, was professional, very knowledgeable, and informative. Sean assured me that this is one of the best water heaters installed today with no issues. Online reviews of Bradford White are not so good. Regardless, very happy with the service, paid $2k total for wh and install, cheaper than TLC @ $2300. Hopefully this will be a good quality product. TLC installs Bradford White as well. Wagner will continue to get my business if this works out well. read more

My concern resulted from a misunderstanding. Mr. Ruch went above and beyond to accommodate my concerns.

My AC unit went out and i searched for service providers on Google and found Wagner Mechanical. They came out to my residence in a reasonable amount of time but after they looked at my AC unit for about 5 minutes, they determined that it would take them 6 hours and $1,400 dollars to fix. They listed multiple things that needed changing and suggested i buy a new unit for an estimated $9,000. The appraisal seemed high so i had multiple other companies also provide an appraisal, all coming in with the same issues costing around $200. (i eventually paid $155 and it works perfect) Wagner Mechanical tried to charge me for issues that did not exist as well as try to have me replace a unit that does not require a replacement. I called their office to speak to a manager, they had recently left the office but promised to call me back. That never happened. If there was an option for 0 stars, i would have selected that because quite frankly what they did to us was unethical and wrong. read more
