I just had the most amazing experience with Saul with Homerun plumbing heating and cooling…read more Because of the crazy winds we have been having, there has been some clanking and banging with my roof swamp cooler. I had no idea what was going on, but the noise of metal to metal clanking really had me concerned. So I called Homerun and explained my concern. Saul came out this afternoon, went up on the roof, despite the crazy wind we have been having, diagnosed what was going on and fixed the problem. I am so grateful for Saul's professionalism and quick response to my concerns. HomeRun has my continued loyalty because they are a great company, and I especially extend my appreciation to Saul. Thank you Saul. I truly appreciate you expertise and good heart. I will use Homerun for all my AC and heating needs. Thank you Saul. Wonderful job!!

David, the tech, was very knowledgeable about a lot of things. Including that the city had to be called out to shut off the water valve at the street since it was rusted closed. Thankfully that didn't add to the price at all. I'm not really familiar with how plumbing is supposed to work today, but I certainly am not a fan of everyone charging a fee just to show up and look at your problem to give you a price. I think that practice is BS. But it seems like everyone is doing that now. Would I use them again? Sure. They got the job done quickly.

They got us on the schedule the same day and the tech called as he was on his way. Best of all they fixed it for a minimal cost. I was really impressed that Signature charges by the job and not hourly. This allowed our tech, Cody, to take his time and look over the system thoroughly. Cody was amazing, I can't say enough about him! In addition to fixing the communication issue that had shut the system down - he cleaned the system, took pictures of the inside, even looked over the water heater and fuse box. Then he spent almost an hour explaining everything he had found in layman's terms. This was very valuable to me as a detail-oriented nerd! I feel like I have a much better understanding of how my system works, what I need to watch out for in the future, and services/maintenance that can help the system run longer without replacement. (my system is 11 years old) Also what it might cost me if something were to fail again or I do need to replace the system. Cody is truly a gem. An expert at his craft, friendly, kind, and respectful to boot. I was so happy when he told me if we needed future service that Signature would send him out again. It's always frustrating to have to explain an issue to a new person - much better to work with the person who already knows what's going on. Thank you Signature and Cody!

At 120pm he texted saying he was running about five minutes late. I was a little bugged by him being late since he set the time, but I was able to work from home that afternoon so it was not a huge inconvenience. Once he got to my home he was only there for about an hour. He got everything done and all was working perfectly. I was very impressed with his work and with his prices. We set another appointment for him to come today at 10 AM to install a PRV or pressure relief valve. I had to take the morning off of work to be home so I texted him at 8:30 am just to confirm that we were still good to go for our appointment at 10 AM today. He never read my text, he never responded, and he never showed up. I waited until almost 11am before I left my home and went to work. I left a note on my front door for him and I kept an eye on the cameras to see if maybe he stopped by a little later in the day and he never did. I was really disappointed at this point because he did the 1st job so well. I was really hoping that we finally found someone that we could use for years to come. Back to the drawing board I guess.

First, there was no permit pulled for the inspection of the the final installation and still has not been. The heat failed to work proper first because the gas had not been turned on to the unit. Knew the unit had some type of oil build up that needed to be burned off, which ended up smoking throughout the house. The electrician harness kept shorten out and needed to be replaced. Then the circuit board needed to be replaced. The gasline and P-trap was not properly installed the first time and had to be re-done. Overall my experience with this company was been subpar. Still waiting for that inspection! Avoid like the plague!

I got a response from about 5 HVAC companies with three with estimates for their service. I chose them for being the first to response with a reasonable estimate and I called to set up an appointment that will work around my work schedule. They were able to work with me to provide a good date to come out and do their service. The day of the appointment, the tech called me that he was on his way within the appointed time. He did show up early and he did his HVAC service in a reasonable amount of time, about 15 to 20 minutes. He told us what he did and I paid exactly what I was quoted in the estimate, plus tax of course. I passed on to him to add me to their 6 month preventative maintenance schedule to do our AC service in the Spring. Overall a great experience with this company as the tech was friendly but professional.

The two technicians showed up on time yesterday (promised 9-10 AM) after sending an "on our way" text). They recommended using the pleated filters instead of the blue fiberglass variety. He had a 20"x25" pleated filter in the truck that was a little long for our space. So, he took a pair of shears, chopped off just enough, and used the cardboard form cleared of material to put a border back on! Voila! Another service was cleaning the fins (?) on the outdoor compressor. After turning off the power outside, he used a hose to flush out the accumulated detritus in the unit. Our system is back to working great again! I had a chance to speak with one of the brother/owners, Paul, this evening, to share my feedback on the service call. Sounds like a very nice guy. I thanked him for their well-trained techs.

Excellent. Unfortunately, they had to order the part, which wouldn't be in until Monday. Originally, the technician stated we'd pay expedited shipping on the part but they'd be out first thing Monday morning to get the part installed. I asked the tech before he left what was the price for everything. He verbally estimated $350-$375. He said the part was cheap and the labor would be the expensive part. I wasn't given the price in writing, showing the breakdown of the costs (this was my error, I should know better. They called us Friday evening to let us know they couldn't make it Monday as they were short on technicians. So after being quoted a price WITH expedited shipping, and to the fault of the company, we waited for install- we expected that original price to go down. They came that following Wednesday, and it was fixed within 30 minutes. (This is a total of roughly 2 hours of service, generously.) Total cost $374.06, after they were nice enough to give a 5% military discount. Again, an invoice wasn't provided. However, I paid, and they were on their way. My wife immediately pointed out the math didn't add up, 2 hours of service ($85 x 2 + $55 for a part = $225 plus tax). She called after the tech left to follow up regarding the charges. I received my invoice the next morning around 8:30, as follows: $195.00 for the part (hot surface igniter) $170.00 for labor (2 hours worth) Plus tax I began to do research, as the original quoted price for the part was roughly $55. (Companies in the area won't release parts prices or sell to the public, only contractors, so when I called myself, prices could not be provided. However, I found the price for the part online, ranging $49 to $58, which is not the wholesale price that contractors get.) My friend, who works for a local HVAC company, did a little research for me today. Here were the costs of the parts, as quoted by the 4 parts companies that they called - 1) $17 (the company Duke City got the part from - Johnstone Supply) 2) $13.76 3) $16.57 4) Same price as above, but plus shipping. Duke City charged me $195 for a $14-$17 part through their company. That is flat out robbery. I understand wanting to make a little extra profit. Business has to make money. But, even giving them the benefit of the doubt, and saying they spent $20 on the part, that's almost 10x the price of the actual part! My wife called Duke City and questioned Gloria, regarding the markup. She told my wife, "Well, that's the price that was quoted by the first technician that did the diagnostic. I don't know where the miscommunication happened." Upon further request of resolution (as an "oh well" is not sufficient, she was told one of the business owners would follow up by tomorrow morning). We will never do business with this company again. I will spread the word. Through social media, word of mouth, etc. UDPATE They sent me the invoice that they claim came from the parts company (Johnstone) and they broke it down as $88.60 for the part, and $99.55 for the freight/handling. Remember though, up above my friend clearly got a quote of $17 from the same company, for the same part. So something is up. Also, $99.55 for freight/handling?! They paid for what? Expedited shipping? Even though they knew they couldn't make it out until 3 days following their original promise of installation (Monday)? Give me a break. Not buying any of it. Regardless, if they gave me that price breakdown on the initial day of diagnoses, I would have turned it down. But, they didn't. They just verbally gave me the estimated cost of the whole project. Their verbal breakdown nowhere near matches the black and white invoice. Which, again, was 4 hours of service and a $55 part. At the end of the end of the day, yes- the original price matched. But Duke City changed their breakdown- now, our invoice shows TWO hours of service and FOUR times the original quoted price on the part (when, really the part is only $17, as verified by another local HVAC contractor). Now, my own opinion is that Duke City works with this company to inflate the prices of the parts that they sell. (We were also told by our friend, Johnstone will match a company's original quote to a client in an effort to support small businesses, regardless of what the actual price is.) This leads to return business for the parts company, and increased profits on behalf of Duke City for parts. (No wonder these parts companies won't release the price of the parts to the general public.) No matter the reasoning though, it's clear there is really something morally questionable about this company. Do business with them at the risk of your wallet. Imagine how many people they did this to before us?
