Hubby ordered the beef bulgogi noodles. The beef was seared to perfection; medium rare. The egg was medium boiled...just right! My 6 yr old son had the kids version of the chicken katsu curry. Everything was parsed into individual scoops for picky little eaters: scoop of white rice, the chicken, corn, shredded cucumbers, and carrot. Curry on the side. He got a kids apple juice which was made from real apples, cold pressed right there! Ambiance is upbeat, clean, music at a nice level. Staff was very helpful and provided great service! The mushroom and panko eggplant bao buns had a super soft exterior bun and I enjoyed the crispy panko eggplant!The Japanese mayo was a nice touch as well! The food was great. The service was phenomenal. Solid ambiance. And, some interesting stuff on the menu that leaves me looking to go back! I had dinner at Wagamama with my wife, our toddler, and my mom. The service was beyond good. It was prompt, attentive, and very pleasant. I drink a lot of water and they made sure my glass never ran dry. I'm constitutionally disturbed by not thanking people when they do things for me even when doing so would be dysfunctional, and when my water was refilled while I had a big mouthful that I started to try to choke down, the waiter volunteered that he could read the "thank you" on my face. They really went above and beyond when it came to dealing with the baby elephant on the room: our fifteen month old, who's well behaved in a restaurant for a fifteen month old... but who's a toddler and will periodically think it's fun to toss his pacifier on the floor only to soon after get upset that it's gone. As their servers made their way around, they spotted tossed pacifiers before we did and brought them to us (wildly quickly). When it landed mouth-side-down, our server offered hot water to clean the pacifier. It was clear that they started by hiring good people to work there and then both trained them to do their jobs smoothly and also gave them room to find the best ways to serve their customers. 11 out of 10 on the service. The food was great, too. I had the bulgogi noodle dish. My beef was perfectly cooked, and so were my noodles. My mom got the ramen with duck, and the duck meat was visibly falling off the bone. My wife got delicious pork ramen. And, mostly for my son, we got their pork dumpling appetizer, which was good enough that he excitedly ate it while we all enjoyed a dumpling, too. It wasn't a meal where I was looking for a cocktail or a fresh pressed juice, but their menu featured both, with some options that sounded great that I will be back to try. I freely admit that I'm not the person to judge the "authenticity" of a ramen or bulgogi dish, if that matters. But, I can judge whether food is good, and theirs is. We had a great experience at Wagamama and would strongly recommend giving them a try. read more

Very good experience at WAGAMAMA! The place was packed but service was still on the ball consistently. We ordered two rounds of bao buns and pad Thai. We visited Wagamama during its opening night in Clarendon. We waited for about 15 minutes for a table. I am grateful for the experience but I do have a few issues to point out. I am hoping these would be resolved eventually since this location just opened. We ordered some mocktails that we had to remind our server about multiple times for they to come. The fresh water and juices were very good and refreshing. We ordered the Ahi tuna nachos and thought the tuna was very fresh and it was a solid choice. We also ordered the bang bang cauliflower. Not too impressed by the texture of theirs; definitely not the star of the night but a good option for a vegetable. For mains we ordered the chicken katsu and the pad Thai as recommended by our server. The chicken pad Thai was good, nothing negative to say. The chicken katsu was sadly delivered to another table twice. We explained the issue to our server and they really tried to speak to the kitchen and staff about it. After waiting for 45 minutes for the chicken katsu, a gentleman who seemed to be the manager/owner kindly asked us what we were waiting for and made sure we were the next table in queue for the dish. I thought the katsu curry was delicious and a very good portion. I was a bit disappointed at how long I had to wait for my dish, but I am still happy I got it and I was able to wait for it that night. I don't believe anyone in particular is to blame for this issue, but just some communication issues with the kitchen that need to be worked out as they continue to receive customers. The menu display can definitely be improved to reflect the attractiveness of their website menu with awesome pictures of the dishes offered. read more

Excited to try this famous UK restaurant in the Arlington neighborhood. Brought back so much nostalgia from the 90s. I ordered: -Tokyo Fries - beef was way over seasoned (salty) and dry, but the fine noodle like sweet potato fries was done crispy and not oily. An interesting interpretation of fries, even finer than shoe strings fries. -Duck leg ramen - duck leg was tender and well seasoned, but the ramen noodle is way too overcooked, soft, too soggy and not al dente. Broth is decent as a non-ramen specialized western restaurant. -Grill miso cod with soba - the grill cod was done right, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Although the soba noodle is al dente, they stir fried the soba with too much oil. The soba noodle basically is drenched in oil and look shiny. -Papaya Boba tea - terrible as it taste like bubble gum and the boba is way to soft without any chewiness, basically melts in your mouth which is not how boba works.... The restaurant is still new and hopefully just need time to perfect their cooking and recipe. Will definitely come back to check it out later. read more

I've been waiting 10 years for this place to open. Was disappointed.... The drinks were mediocre and the food was so saucy we didn't really want to finish our meal. We loved dining at wagamama. The place when you walk in is immediately clean and inviting. We have eaten at this place all over the world and were so excited to find it in Arlington virginia. We ordered the Tuna for an appetizer and the pork bao bun. The tuna was the only thing on the menu that I would not get again. The pork bao bun was so good and the flavor was incredible with that crunchy apple it was paired with. The fresh juices are always a must as well. The bulgogi is always my husbands personal favorite and he always orders it. My yaki soba could be used a little more spice but they did bring out the spice dishes for us to add to it. Overall, we can't wait to have one local and we are excited to come back and try more dishes on the menu. Next time we can't wait to try the Ramen! This was my first wagamama experience and overall it was cool. Orrin was a great server with mad knowledge on the menus and his favorites/suggestions didn't disappoint. I could tell he's extremely experienced because while other servers were helicoptering their tables and overwhelming their guests. I heard numerous people complain. Management should stop over scheduling. If you can ask for Orrin I definitely would. He was patient, knowledgeable and there when we needed him but not too overbearing. He recommended the beef brisket ramen to me since I'm more familiar with tonkatsu black ramen and it was exactly as he described! The food was good but it's not the traditional Ramen spot. No tonkatsu or umami but still the beef brisket was quite tasty. I'll be back but it won't replace my favorite ramen spot. It's brand new so very clean and the decor is fresh and bright. read more

We had a great meal tonight at Wagamama. We have anticipated this opening for a while and were thrilled with the experience. Ramen, boa buns, gyoza, edamame (maybe the best I've had!), and tuna rice bowl were all standouts. The manager stopped by our table and told us they had some system hiccups over the weekend but it's resolved now. We didn't have any service issues. Our only minor complaint is that it's very loud in the front section near the windows. Other than that no notes! read more

This place really needs to figure out its alcoholic drink situation. It took waaaayyyyyy longer than one would expect to get drinks to the table. I don't believe it was the waiters fault either. Our waiter was extremely attentive and I feel as though if the drinks were ready he would have brought them to our table. One side of the restaurant (where the kitchen is) is extremely loud, it reminds me of a beer hall in Germany. The other side, (side with the bar) is extremely quiet and you can have a nice conversation without raising your voice. We visited Wagamama for a Friday dinner. We ordered the Korean Fried chicken bao shareable which was absolutely amazing! My husband ordered the chicken teriyaki donburi which he devoured. I ordered the old chili chicken ramen which was the perfect amount of broth, spice and ramen. The presentation was awesome and the flavor was superb. My daughter ordered the spicy pork Szechuan and she said it was the best ramen she has ever had. The cocktails were also yummy and decorative. I highly recommend a meal here. My friend and I had been waiting several years for Wagamama Clarendon to open. We made a lunch reservation within the first week of opening and went with a lot of excitement. Overall the food quality was good, but the service was disappointing and needs additional work/training. All the employees are very excited to be there. They are friendly and welcoming. We weee seated in a booth toward the back of the restaurant and it was quiet. We were given menus and soon after felt pressure from the server to order. Being at a new restaurant we would have appreciated some time to review the menu and to hear more about recommended items. We ordered the bang band cauliflower to start and two noodle dishes as entrees. My friends noodle dish arrived first. We asked about our appetizer and told it was coming. My friend patiently waited while her entree was getting cold, and then my noodle dish arrived. We asked again about the cauliflower and told it was coming. It eventually arrived as we were half way through our entrees. I'd like to say it was worth the wait, but there was more breading than cauliflower. The noodle dishes were tasty and generous portion sizes. Our server offered us dessert before we were done eating, and also tried to clear some of our plates before we were done (pet peeve). Our server kindly split our check for us (without us asking), but some additional training needs to be done. He had some problems processing the checks and somehow resubmitted our order so two more entrees arrived at our table.
