Dirty, dirty, dirty! I'm a fan of the Waffle House. When in the South I ensure to make them regular stops. However, I'll never be back to this location. It was filthy. The kitchen area which is in plain view was down right disgusting. The cook was preparing orders of scrambled eggs in the same bowl and with the same spoon as every other order. The bowl looked horrible. The food was ok but not great and served on dirty plates. They are short staffed but the current staff had time to laugh, joke and goof off so they had time to clean. I always heard about the Waffle House, almost as a southern pop culture icon, mentioned even in Rap songs, so I had to try it! I ordered the Texas toast breakfast, a solid breakfast sandwich with eggs, bacon and cheese, served with hash brown and coffee. Good breakfast, but I don't see what the hipe is about! My 100th Review!!!! Reading the reviews here, I think some people are just way too picky! Waffle House is a must for travel through the south, and when I arrived in Mississippi for the weekend, there was no doubt where I'd be having my first breakfast. The wait time was negligible, and the staff of 8 were working very well together. As soon as tables were vacated, they were cleared and guests were seated. The grill line was well manned and food was coming out quickly enough for a busy Saturday morning. My waitress was a delight (I wish I had gotten her name to brag on her here!), and anything I for was brought immediately. She also checked in every so often. My coffee cup remained full and warm throughout the entire meal. The food was as good as it ever is at Waffle Housem The interior of the building was a typical Waffle House for me...no more or less dirty that I could tell from any of the ones I visit. The building is in an area with a run down shopping center, but that has nothing to do with the food or the service. I'd go again without hesitation next time I'm in the area for a trip. read more

It's a staple in our house and even on vacation we usually make our way to one. This was HANDS DOWN the WORST. It took 45 minutes from the time we sat down to get our order. Yes, they were busy, but they weren't busy enough to not be able to all stand in front of us (we were seated at the bar) and gossip. There is no urgency anywhere, it took us 15 minutes to just get acknowledged and our drinks. The place is dirty, the staff is rude and slow as hell. Whoever gives this place more than one star is probably an employee. This has been our regular stop on the way home from the Blues Festival in Clarksdale, so we know what most Waffle Houses are like. We really don't expect too much, but this was disgusting. Everything was filthy. Flies and gnats on the dirty windows. Floors were uncleaned. The staff of 3 did an amazing job. It might be a little slow, they brought the food as they cooked each one by one for the all star breakfast, but that was a great starter for the situation. Two really friendly black women staffing the place and who obviously know how to cook some great southern food and southern hospitality, I can just imagine what they'd do with eggs on top of grits in their home cooking.. we came in and immediately were told that they were closed when the restaurant was in fact filled with people, and also had more coming in that they were allowing to sit down and eat. I have been to numerous waffle houses all over the country & enjoy going there because the people are usually so friendly & I get a feeling of home. She turned her back to us & started talking to another waitress. We are all aware that Waffle Houses are not 5 star dining by any means, but after a long night, they do the job. As we unsurely proceeded towards a booth, an unpleasant smell filled my nostrils. I didn't smell bacon grease and syrup like I had hoped. It simply smelled dirty. As we sat, and took a scan of the restaurant, debating whether to stay or go, we noticed three employees seated at the bar, puffing their cigarettes. I guess smoke breaks are taken inside with the customers in between orders. Yuck. It was time to decide how hungry we were and what else would be open at this late hour. Well, we were pretty frickin' hungry and didn't have any other options besides drive-thru fast food, which now doesn't seem like a bad option. Our particular sever was sweet, and our biscuits were soft as can be, but those two things alone can't bring a girl back. We stood there until 6:10 and there were no workers to be seen... we debated on calling the police because burners were still on and door was left unlocked with no employees. This time we went after a trip to Tunica. Everything is cooked to order. I like to get the all star special. It has such a variety. I added a side of gravy and made a sausage biscuit. The biscuits are just ok, but the meat and gravy are good. One of my friends wanted ham and sausage. Waffle House will let you customize your meal 100%. Gotta have some coffee with that meal. Decaf at night. You can't go to there and not have a waffle. The hashbrowns are one of the most fun things. They have like 10 ingredients that you can add. I got mine with everything except chili. The entire building, from the parking lot to every inch of the inside, was so incredibly and disgustingly dirty. There is literally no words to describe how bad it is. To start I love Waffle House; walked in and they were pretty packed not unusual for a Waffle House that's right on the interstate and in the middle of nowhere. When waiting for our table the waitress cleaned it off but the towel she used fell out of her hand and on the floor . When I saw it fall I said to me myself surely no she's not but she did pick it up and (not) clean the table. Didn't she think we wouldn't see that...yeah lady we did. Food was really good but no surprise there it's Waffle House. There were flies flying around but I honestly think it was the same one pudding everyone off lol. As this waffle house was near the casinos, I am sure they get a lot of inebriated individuals in here on a regular basis. However, that does not excuse the quality of the food. The patty melt I had seemed to have been cooked hours earlier and was just sitting on the grill waiting for someone to order it. The patty was EXTREMELY dry and over cooked. I asked for the has browns to be crispy but they were done as usual instead. The waitress however, Net, was extremely nice and did an outstanding job. I would give this place a zero rating because the service wasn't great and the food. As a chef I love coming to Waffle House but this place is a food inspectors nightmare. The floor was slippery and there was breed all over the ground. I had mystery objects in my sprite and the grits I got were lumpy and gross. Also the bacon was extremely over cooked. The cook spaces weren't clean and there slate flies everywhere. I'm here for another 2 days for my job and I put out on Facebook not to come to this location. Went to visit Graceland and the local hotels were a bit pricey and not reviewed all that well--so I decided to stay at Harrah's Tunica. There's just about no where to eat around there other than casinos and the Waffle House.... First off I'm from California so when I walked in and saw people SMOKING I stopped dead in my tracks! Literally! WTH! Then I go as far away as is possible in this tiny place and sit on a bar stool because that's the only place to sit. So now I'm on a level that I can see everything--not good. This place would be shut down if it was in California! But I'm pretty darn hungry so I decide to suck it up. I order a medium rare burger with hash browns (no fries here) and the people behind the counter look at each other confused.... They told me that if I wanted my burger cooked that way I would have to sign the receipt... Again-WTH? So I say okay and I signed the receipt. The burger was well done anyway. The hash browns were okay. When I asked at the hotel where to eat -- they said the Waffle House! In my opinion someone should go in and use a high pressure hose and hose it all down. read more

After about 4 mins one of the employees walked in and straight to the back to inform the manager she had customers. When my family and I arrived, all of the tables were dirty and when we asked for the one we wanted to sit at to be cleaned, the staff was reluctant and slow to do it. The entire restaurant was disgusting. There was food and other yucky stuff all over the floor and the menus and condiments at the tables were dirty and icky as well. This was enough to spoil my appetite. Staff was not welcoming or friendly at all and they all seemed like they did not want to be there. The service was terrible. No one came to the table to check and see how things were going and we practically had to shout to get staff's attention when were in need of something like more water, an extra fork, etc. As for the food, it was rather good, but the overall atmosphere and environment killed my enjoyment of the food, thus there is not much else I can say about that.
