This is just like most waffle houses. It could be a little bit more cleaner, but the food was amazing. I felt like they skimped on the grits. My server was super sweet and very attentive. It is definitely a popular spot for locals because it was almost packed at 10:30 this morning. The ambience is nice as any other place would be. I won't lie. I was a little nervous because I was the only person of color in there, but this lovely woman secretly paid for my meal, and I almost cried. It's filthy inside. Sit at the counter and look across. Lots of food on the floor, food debris under the stove top, all sorts of stuff covering the waffle makers that has dripped down onto the adjacent surfaces. Night time staff hang out in the back leaving the customer part virtually empty. It clearly needs to shut down for a deep clean. How it ever scores a 96 on the inspection is a complete mystery to me. Nikki was the best! She took our orders with a big smile, and brought those orders to us quickly. They were right, & were delicious. She checked on us often, filling up our water glasses & coffee. The price was reasonable. I had two eggs over easy on wheat toast with strawberry jelly. Husband had the waffle with hash browns. Friend had smothered hash browns, wheat toast & ham & cheese omelet. I went here because i was constipated, went 3 or 4 days without taking a boo boo. I ate 6 600 milligram laxatives then took a nap, that didn't do the trick.. Waffle House. If you're an avid reader of mine, you know that I love me some waffle house...especially during late nights. However, this Waffle House was a little let down. I guess Waffle Houses aren't the same everywhere. This Waffle House is neatly about dead center in Oak Ridge, at least where all the restaurants are. My parents wanted to go eat at a breakfast spot when they were up here so they decided to come here. So what makes this place different than the one I'm used to in Charlotte? The amount of food. It seems like the amount of food I got here was a little skimpy. Back in Charlotte, it was nice and pretty much piled high with food and it was filling. Unike this one here, I felt like they skimped out on me with my hash browns and the usual order that I get is usually the All Star Breakfast. Also noted is that their coffee is not that great...pretty watered down. None-the-less, it seems like this place is pretty popular, especially towards the senior side of the spectrum. So if you do decided to come here for breakfast, expect that this place is filled up with no seats unless you go a little early. And I guess a little early is like 7-8ish. Full disclosure: I am an employee of this Waffle House. Waffle House, in general, is one of capitalism's great gifts to the American diner. Whether you be traveling on the cheap, or simply looking for mass quantities of bacon, eggs, hashbrowns (or, of course, waffles...and the list goes on) at 3 in the morning, or any other time ever, Waffle House is your one-stop shop to fill your belly. It's always open, affordable, and delicious. This being said, absent some unknown horror, this alone should guarantee at LEAST a five star rating. But the Oak Ridge location goes beyond that. The servers and cooks take good care of you (I've been on both sides of the counter), and are willing to make, generally speaking, any reasonable (or sometimes unreasonable) accommodation for your food. I've worked elsewhere before, and the professionalism here ranks pretty high- this is NOT just because it's a corporate franchise. I've worked one other similar job- and it's not even close. Pro tip: Come at night, when business is a little dead. Order two French toast waffles all the way, cooked in the butter, and get the honey syrup. VERY well worth it if there's time to make it, and you can persuade the staff. If I'm your server, and we've got the time, it'd be my pleasure! *French toast waffles don't take much longer than most food, but they require a bit of extra work, which is why it's best to order them if we're not having a rush. read more

I waited 5 to 10 minutes for an acknowledgement that I was thre from one of the three waitresses working. Nothing! My wife and I found our selves headed home from the airport around mid-night Christmas eve. Coming down the Pellissippi Parkway (Autobahn). We were hungry and we both at the same time uttered the words "i-Hop" and proceeded to drive to our local "i-Hop" which to our disappointment was closed. I was able to watch our food being prepared by the cooks. I like that. Our late night breakfast was served on the plate to perfection. My crisp beacon was delayed and Rose made sure that it was on the house. Food great! Service exceptional! We have been going here for years off and on. Lately the servers seem so angry and the slamming of plates makes it hard to sit in peace while you wait forever for your breakfast. It makes me sad. The service was absolutely TERRIBLE! Food was completely cold and found some hard plastic mixed in with my gravy and biscuits! The server sat us down and took our order, and in walked another table about 5-7 minutes after us to be precise. We waited and waited for our food for about 15 minutes yet the table that came in after us which had a much bigger party and had sat behind us was served first. The server neglected to even acknowledge us for another 5 minutes eventually came back with the wrong order and asked if we wanted to change what we originally order so he didn't have to go back an REORDER what he had messed up. At this point we decided to just avoid further argument and agreed to just eat something we did not order. Well not even 2 minutes later he comes back right when my husband is about to take a bite and states he needs the plates of food back because the order was for another table who came in 15-20 minutes later. Needless to say we were pretty upset, after another 4-6 minutes he brought half our food and forgot about the rest until my husband asked. I got a cold to the touch waffle and raw cold bacon, GREAT! Locally, I prefer the WH over IHop. I just took my 20 mo grandson for his first WH experience and he LOVED it! The food was good and the service was great. They cooked up a special plate just for him, he flirted with the lady in the next booth, and he got his picture taken with the waitress AND the cook.
