By far the best and cleanest waffle house i've ever eaten in. Friendly staff. And the food was very good. I forgot to take a picture of food, as I was so hungry and it was soo good!

My empty plate because it was too good to wait.

I have eaten at a dozens of Waffle House restaurants. This one by far is top 2 in my book. Very clean and the staff is very friendly. The sweat tea is spot on! Not to sweat and very good.

Weidmann's Restaurant located in Meridian, Mississippi is Mississippi's oldest continuously…read moreoperating restaurant. Since 1870, Weidmann's has welcomed everyone from railroad workers and weary travelers to soldiers and hometown heroes, earning its place in Mississippi's history. Founded by Swiss immigrant Felix Weidmann, the restaurant opened during Meridian's rise as one of the South's busiest railroad crossroads. During World War I, the restaurant temporarily relocated to Hattiesburg to help feed the thousands of soldiers training at nearby Camp Shelby. One of its quirkiest traditions is the complimentary peanut butter and crackers brought to every table. During World War II, butter rationing led the restaurant to serve peanut butter and crackers instead. Customers loved it so much that the tradition continues more than 80 years later. In 1935, when brothers Al and Fred Key took to the skies in their airplane, Ole Miss, they weren't just chasing a world record--they were trying to save Meridian's airport from closing during the Great Depression. They spent an unbelievable 653 hours and 34 minutes--more than 27 days--without landing. They stayed aloft by pioneering air-to-air refueling techniques. Their record stood until astronauts aboard Skylab surpassed the duration in space in 1973. One of the celebrations honoring their historic flight took place right here at Weidmann's, forever connecting the restaurant to one of aviation's greatest achievements. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and they were outstanding. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, the grits were creamy and full of flavor, and every bite tasted fresh and homemade. Of course, you can't leave without trying their famous peanut butter and crackers--a tradition that's become part of the restaurant's history. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was warm and full of character, and you can tell they take pride in preserving this historic landmark. If you appreciate great Southern food and places with a story to tell, Weidmann's is absolutely worth the stop.

My parents and I stumbled across this place on our way home, and what a find it was. From the…read moremoment we stepped inside, we knew we were somewhere special. The exposed brick and thoughtful décor struck the perfect balance--classic and nostalgic with just the right touch of modern style. We were immediately welcomed by the sweetest hostess (I hate that I can't remember her name--she had glasses, a beautiful smile, and the cutest dress). She greeted us with genuine warmth and hospitality that's hard to come by these days. She led us into the main dining room and seated us at a charming table dressed in crisp white linens. The space featured more exposed brick, tasteful artwork, and just the right amount of décor. The temperature was perfect, and the tables were spaced far enough apart to create an intimate, relaxed atmosphere. Our waiter arrived promptly and was both friendly and knowledgeable. He clearly knew his craft and took the time to walk us through the specials, making sure we felt confident and excited about our choices. We ordered sweet tea, which was perfectly brewed--not overly sweet, just right. The complimentary peanut butter and crackers were something new to us, but after reading about the history behind it, we appreciated the thoughtful touch even more. Our food arrived quickly, and everything was fresh and cooked to order. We tried the spicy chicken sandwich, the cheeseburger, and a special featuring a panini with a cup of gumbo. Each entrée came with perfectly cooked homemade chips. Every bite was spot-on--truly a 10 out of 10. Even though we were full, we couldn't resist ordering dessert--when in Rome, right? We chose the peanut butter pie and the famous Black Bottom pie. After one bite of those generously sized slices, we all paused and just looked at each other. I don't exaggerate when I say we unanimously agreed they were the best pies we've ever had. What started as a plan to sample a few bites and take the rest to go ended with two completely empty plates. We consider ourselves food lovers, and I genuinely couldn't find a single flaw in the entire experience. We live nearly three hours away and are already planning a trip back. If you've made it this far in my amateur review, thank you--and I truly hope you get the chance to experience this wonderful, history-filled gem for yourself.

The menu was concise, but appealing. However, there numerous errors. Necoise salad was listed as having roasted potatoes, but there none. A good bit of the spring mix greens were wilted, and should have been cleaned out of the plate. Had to donthat ourselves. The listed dijon vinagrette was out of stock with only Caesar or Ranch available as alternatives. My wife got the Salmon, and it was deliciously prepared. The grits and green beans were very nice on the side. I had the Swanky Shrimp, which was advertised to be prepared with a "white wine butter" sauce, but really was literally swmming in a pool of clarified butter with no perceptable white wine. The menu said "sauteed greens" were included, but upon inquiring was told it was a menu misprint and was offered a side of green beans (was charged extra $5 when I got the bill). Overall, 6:01 Local advertizes to have an executive chef and charges fine dining prices. But there were numerous shortcomings with food content versus the menu that an executive chef should have better control of. They will have to be more consistent if they expect to fill more tables. The Threefoot Hotel is a fabulous venue for an upscale menu; they only need to get the kitchen to get much more efficient and catch up with the venue. No one should have to walk out of a restaurant and feelnlike they didn't get what they paid for.

Maybe even a "Super Cracker Not Lacking Electro Current Cracker Barrell"! ™. It's mine, you can't have it. I will find you! You can juice up the ride and fuel the body with some mediocre foods. That's like a win/tie!! Get it?? Win/Tie?? I am just so witty, I can't stand it! Our original server traded us off for a regular that came in and sat in another section. It's hard to deal with rejection right at the beginning of a relationship. We barely even just met, lady!! I shook it off well as the other server l was really nice and took good care of us. I'll send the therapy bill to Martha later. I never got to see any of the remodels that occurred that got everyone up in arms about Ol' Uncle Hershel, so this one looks just like they all do. Cool fireplace, nice warm colors. Just the right amount of dust covering the old artifacts. You know.... Just like the old days. Food was fair. My dumbass got catfish worth my UH breakfast. That was a mistake, but other than that I enjoyed my meal. Eggs were perfect and it was hot and fresh. Biscuits and gravy baskets make me really happy too!! Win/tie for sure!! I must not have gotten C's breakfast pic. She had pancakes and bacon which is always a winner!! She probably said something like "how many fucking pictures of pancakes do you need, Adam".... and I stopped. She's cool like that most days. I ended up spending almost a $100 on breakfast because of the stupid gift shop catching my wife with "sales". Is it really a sale if it is junk that you don't need? I think not.... We left with gifts for the in-laws, which I good I guess since we were on the way to see them just before Christmas. They are jerks, and don't deserve things. Nice visit. Supercharger makes it worth it really. I'll be back just for that I am sure. '26 - 7
