The food is up to par for a Waffle House. Nothing special and takes a while if your not the only person in there. Also over priced.

Weidmann's Restaurant - Peanut butter and Ritz crackers on the table

The ambiance was great. We even had front row views to a Christmas parade!…read more The food was tasty, though not the 'traditional' New Orleans seafood dishes I was expecting. The service was okay. Our waiter was nice, but didn't seem to know the menu or remember what we ordered.

My parents and I stumbled across this place on our way home, and what a find it was. From the…read moremoment we stepped inside, we knew we were somewhere special. The exposed brick and thoughtful décor struck the perfect balance--classic and nostalgic with just the right touch of modern style. We were immediately welcomed by the sweetest hostess (I hate that I can't remember her name--she had glasses, a beautiful smile, and the cutest dress). She greeted us with genuine warmth and hospitality that's hard to come by these days. She led us into the main dining room and seated us at a charming table dressed in crisp white linens. The space featured more exposed brick, tasteful artwork, and just the right amount of décor. The temperature was perfect, and the tables were spaced far enough apart to create an intimate, relaxed atmosphere. Our waiter arrived promptly and was both friendly and knowledgeable. He clearly knew his craft and took the time to walk us through the specials, making sure we felt confident and excited about our choices. We ordered sweet tea, which was perfectly brewed--not overly sweet, just right. The complimentary peanut butter and crackers were something new to us, but after reading about the history behind it, we appreciated the thoughtful touch even more. Our food arrived quickly, and everything was fresh and cooked to order. We tried the spicy chicken sandwich, the cheeseburger, and a special featuring a panini with a cup of gumbo. Each entrée came with perfectly cooked homemade chips. Every bite was spot-on--truly a 10 out of 10. Even though we were full, we couldn't resist ordering dessert--when in Rome, right? We chose the peanut butter pie and the famous Black Bottom pie. After one bite of those generously sized slices, we all paused and just looked at each other. I don't exaggerate when I say we unanimously agreed they were the best pies we've ever had. What started as a plan to sample a few bites and take the rest to go ended with two completely empty plates. We consider ourselves food lovers, and I genuinely couldn't find a single flaw in the entire experience. We live nearly three hours away and are already planning a trip back. If you've made it this far in my amateur review, thank you--and I truly hope you get the chance to experience this wonderful, history-filled gem for yourself.

Wanting a late night dessert, I was told about the Cook Out, and how they have an extensive shake…read moremenu. We ordered through the drive thru, and the staff was a little impatient through the intercom, but at the window they were nice I only went through the drive through, so, I can't speak to the ambiance of the restaurant, but I will say that the menu (for shakes) is lengthy, and it would be nice if they showed this list prior to the spot were you ordered your food so you would have time to make a decision Some tips: While it was tasty, I might avoid the Banana Pudding shake. Maybe it was because it was later in the evening, but they were trying to peel a frozen banana at the window and then gave up. Only to later use a fully green banana, and because of that a strong not quite ripe banana flavor over powered the rest of the ingredients Cheers!

Food: It's a freshly cooked burger and fries, just like you would do at home. Nothing amazing,…read morenothing bad. Just regular burger. Milkshake was great. Menu: The menu has many options, but it's a but confusing, especially for first-timers. Suggestion would be to pair it down and simplify the options. The counter worker got a little frustrated at me it seemed. But that's OK. Value: Value for the money is great. Very reasonably priced for what you get. Cleanliness: Fine and nothing to note negatively. I would recommend having a real tea dispenser instead of a hand poured pitcher at the drink station. Bathroom was clean. Parking: Fine Friendliness: Fine - nothing of note. Ordering process was a little chaotic. I will give it another try
