I don't understand why this place has such bad reviews. We showed up on a Sunday night around 11PM. Our server was Mindy or Cindy (sorry, I forgot the name) and she was awesome. She was very sweet, polite, and fast. This Waffle House had a lot of parking in front and was clean inside. We all ordered a medium rare steak and I actually thought it was pretty solid. We should have left because of the Flies. The Service was quick and forgetful. You order a breakfast and it doesn't all come at same time . Eggs cold Hash browns cold but the second waffle melted the warm butter. Sausage was old and cold crumbled when I cut it into pieces.. I like Waffle House but this one needs help . Today wife and I went to this establishment. We have been many times before and love the people and the food! Best place to eat in LaMarque. We are originally from Oahu, Hawaii but knew about Waffle House when I drove a truck for Swift years ago. My wife is from Hawaii and was born there. She loves Waffle House house. HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT!!!! Such a bad experience, not only was DREW rude to customers but he was so DISRESPECTFUL to the employees. He has a bully demeanor and it's disgusting. He was rude to the female cook, rude to the female employee who was cleaning. We did not get straws with our drinks. I wasn't give a cup of ice with my orange juice. A positive rating for a Waffle House is as rare as a winning season for the Cleveland Browns, but yes, my neighborhood WH deserves four stars. COVID-19 has caused many restaurants that would normally operate 24 hours to modify their schedules so their staff could have enough time to sanitize everything. Simply put, IHOP, Denny's, etc. close at either 10 p.m. or 11 p.m. for the foreseeable future. Thankfully, WH hasn't succumbed to such fate. I mean, if it could stay open at the height of a hurricane then surely a pandemic is no different, right? A few nights ago, my younger brother and I swung by here for some late night eats. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Melt Hashbrown Bowl with a Mr. Pibb. To my surprise, the dish was pretty good. Generous amounts of tender, nicely sliced chicken sitting on top of fresh, hearty hash browns. If only it were much bigger. But I found something that I could get when I make that once in a blue trip to WH. The waitress who served us was super nice, which is uncommon given WH's reputation. This place was filthy and I'm surprised the health department hasn't shut it down. There was ants crawling all over the napkin dispenser and the floors were filthy. You could smell that that were using and old sour rag to wipe the tables. It was not busy enough where somebody could be cleaning up a bit. My server on the other hand was extremely nice and made sure we were taken care of. He was very apologetic and his face showed me he meant it. You could tell it embarrassed him. But super sweet guy. Most people do not give Waffle House the chance it deserves. Every time I come my hash browns are cooked to perfection (crispy & w/onions), my eggs over medium have the creamiest yolks. Today especially my service was outstanding. My server Nini gave the kind of personalized customer service a patron wishes for. She was genuinely sweet, bubbly and welcoming. No request to big or to small. It was like I was dining at the home of a friend and she was making sure I was comfortable in her home. As someone who used to work in the Resturant business (10+ yrs waiting and bartending) I can always spot the waitstaff who is fake and trying to hustle a tip and those who just are happy to serve you. While traveling I stopped at this Waffle House and by far the best Waffle House I've been at. Jamie gave us superb service she was so sweet and helpful, the best service ever! I left there so happy! Coming here was a bad mistake, never again. Waited for nearly 20min before our food got to us. When it arrived it was cold, cold bacon, cold eggs, cold everything. Be wary of this place. I normally get their "ALL-STAR Special" which comes with two eggs, toast, grits or hashbrowns, waffle, and choice of either bacon, sausage, or country ham. Everything is made to order how you like. They bypassed the six people who were waiting, and me and my friend. Not one staff of Waffle House said anything to these people. It was obvious they were intimidated by the people who cane in and sat themselves. I asked to speak to the manager, who came to the front from the back. I told her all these people were waiting, including my friend and me. She couldn't even give any excuse. The service here is absolutely TERRIBLE! It seems as if the servers are not putting any effort at all into making it a good dining experience for their customers. They do not care enough to get their orders correct. It's not even as if they have a lot of customers at the time either. It cracks me up the amount of drama of their lives I heard I could write a mini series book or soap opera with the amount I've heard. Days of Our Waffel House Lives... some of the staff on point, greet you, smile, don't talk about their personal business in a loud manner, and keep the drama and additudes down...as for the other 50% not so much. I can understand a little stress when its busy and it shows but when its not even work related and whining out loud so all including customers can here (even when your trying not to) its ridiculous! Some are super slow, I don't expect it to be super speedy fast but one could try to act and attempt that your tying to attend to a person. The fact is when you are clearly not serving or doing something that has your hands physical full and busy the LEAST you could do is acknoledged the person, place the silver wear down and get waters at least and THE MENU so people are not staring in the wind waiting twityling their thumbs! Seriously?! Its not rocket science. Whats sad is you see other employees getting fustrated with the others that are slacking or clueless! Some of the staff is really cool the others, not so much.
