I was awake super early this morning and not ready for driving in the dark. Open 24 hours, Waffle House was a beacon for me as I headed in to wait out the last hour or so before sunrise. For my first half hour, I was the only customer in here. A hashbrown bowl with ham was prepared to order and with it, coffee. Assembled quickly and set down, the staff then disappeared out back for a smoke. Peaceful and quiet but I wasn't able to get that second cup of coffee until they returned, stinking of cigarettes. A few more customers came and went for take out orders. Polite, pleasant, efficient, a great breakfast, and a good way to wait out an hour until the sun came up. Waffle House or the franchise owners have made a very bad choice. They have changed its namesake product, to the equivalent of a toaster waffle from the grocery store. They might as well turn off the 'W' in their store sign as '_affle' house is more accurate. Plus, what happened to the great wait staff they used to have? The one on Sugarloaf, all the ladies in there were top notch, it has become so bad now, you see them standing around on their phones, doing nothing. I no longer visit any WH's in Henderson County, and if I need a waffle fix with nice staff, I go to the one in Columbus. Sorry WH, but you have self destructed. read more

This place has the rudest people. The guy with the dreads is very rude and disrespectful. He hates women. Took everyone else order and started taking ours then walks away to ask if he can substitute pork for chicken, to walk away and take a man's order that literally just walked in the door.. . Then take someone else's order. We got up to leave, the he yells out "have a great day!.". After never taking our order. I absolutely love Waffle House and I miss it terribly living in DC. Whenever my spouse and I drive down south, we always make sure to stop by at a Waffle House. We were actually on our way back to DC when we stopped here. We had our dog with us so I was just thinking of ordering to go and that it wouldn't take so long. Wrong. I ordered to go and it took close to an hour to get the food I ordered. Yes, there was a new girl being trained but the amount of people in the restaurant shouldn't have been an issue. The food is always great but the interactions I heard from the employees there made my visit unbearable. I'm not a very patient person, first of all, so I'm quite surprised I didn't lose my shit. (Excuse the language.) Examples of terrible customer service: "I'm here to pick up for a to-go order." (All of the employees swear they didn't get a call and proceeded to ask the woman if she called the right place. The woman insisted and the employees stated later on that the woman must be lying.) "I should've stayed home today." This guy complained the entire time how disorganized the shift was and how he should have stayed at home. I can empathize with his disdain, but don't say it to a customer, let alone allow yourself to be heard by other customers. As everyone is trying to get all the orders in, I watch patiently as they put my food together, packed it, as I remind them that they should've made my waffles as they were bitching to each other about how to do things. It was one of the most frustrating things I've ever had to experience/witness and it added an extra unnecessary hour of traveling. read more

I was there 7/14 the place is always filthy every time I go there the waitress sitting around on the phone instead of cleaning up tables when customers leave . I got water with lemon on the side he gives me one small piece it was so small you could almost see through it grits was barely warm and lumpy the butter wouldn't melt when I asked them to warm them up the server was nice but it she tried but didn't have a microwave she was trying to warm them on top of the grill the ... the COOK says nobody else complain about the grits we should have ate them ... I right nicely got up and left... will not be going back until they clean that place up and get better help . read more

Went there yesterday morning and music blasting really loud from a jukebox. They said the customer controlled the volume. The manager wouldn't or couldn't turn it down. I made a complaint to the corporate headquarters. I went to Cracker Barrel instead and got good service and a nice quiet breakfast by the fireplace. It was really nice. Next time I'll go to Cracker Barrel instead. If you go to that Waffle House, well, just don't. It didn't look very clean either. One more thing: they won't even answer the phone there. You get an automated message saying no pick orders and no option to speak to anyone. What a mess! read more

Terrible bathrooms absolutely disgusting. Words cannot describe how bad they were. I will not share a picture either as I do not want to make anyone sick. I would give this 5 stars if not for the food - a pretty important part of a restaurant. This restaurant is filled with the best, friendliest, most accommodating and talkative staff. I come in here late at night on my own frequently, and while sometimes when I take myself out to dinner I'll read a book, here I'm happy interacting with the staff. The food though... well... sometimes it's spot on. Other times the hash browns are a little mushy and the pickles are a little soggy. I can't always blame the cooks - I mean, the cooks aren't the ones pickling the pickles, am I right? Anyway if you find yourself craving a late night burger, hash brown or omelet, this is a great place to go. Just don't expect the cooks and the wait staff to leave you alone - they're friendly as heck! read more

Pulled up for breakfast at 8am on a Monday... Employees were standing outside the front door smoking. Did not want to walk through a cloud of smoke. Also I found it strange that a dog was tied up near the dumpsters and no other customers were there. I think we will pass and find somewhere else to eat. read more

These people are idiots. Called several times at night but nobody answered until about the 4th call, when they obviously picked up the phone and then hung up on me. I continued to call and when they finally answered the phone I got a rude tone from the employee, so I just hung up on her. I didn't want that incompetent/lazy waitress to take my order, I will just go somewhere else. What else could they possibly be doing at 2:00AM? Obviously they are not busy but do not bother to take orders. I'm going to Denny's. read more
