There is actually nothing good to say about this experience! We walked in to dirty floors and counters as well as a very chilly dining room. We both ordered the Philly Steak Bowls which had a little steak, a little cheese and onion, and a lot of hash browns and each one was approximately $10 each. When I make a list of favorites, whether they are restaurants, hotels or anything else, I separate them into chain and non-chain categories. And on the restaurant side, there are several chains I like just fine but often avoid if there are non-chain choices because I know the experience in the former will not be new. But the one principal advantage that chains offer is that you know what to expect when you walk in. There's not a chain where that's more true than Waffle House. The vast majority of Waffle Houses look exactly the same and offer the same menu. But I generally like Waffle House because they say what they do and do what they say. They offer basic diner fare that emphasizes breakfast at very affordable prices. And they make no pretense that if you're looking for what most people would consider healthy options, you're in the wrong place. Frying is the name of the game and green, whether its intentional or unfortunately unintentional, is the minority food color. There are a couple of vegetables in the pantry to make a stray salad, but the namesake waffle batter occupies the chief monarchical position here with it's princely companions of moderately-priced meats and potatoes. Having made the case about institutional continuity being particularly well maintained with this chain, this particular Waffle House stood out to me in a bit of a subtle way. While it was only moderately busy during our visit and the staff was not overly challenged in this respect, I still discerned that the service was particularly good. Our server was friendly, timely and unobtrusive while maintaining efficiency. I also listened a bit to what was happening with the workers. You can't help it in a Waffle House because you're up close and personal with the operations. There are not many walls in the building design. The manager struck me as being well organized and treated his staff as professionals, while maintaining expectations commensurate with good customer service. Granted, this is a prime facie observation during just a 45-minute visit, but it made a positive impression. This elevated my rating of this location from a 3-star to a 4-star which, with just one or two exceptions, is the highest rating I give a chain. One major feature of Waffle Houses is the ability to get in, get out and get on with your life when you need to. Their highway exit locations are persuasive evidence of this. That was certainly the case here. There were no delays in our dining experience. The other feature we expected, i.e., high value, was also part of our experience. Pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon and coffee were the features of our orders. The food was up to our expectations and we basically got out of there after spending about $11 per person, give or take, with food, drink, tax and tip included. This particular Waffle House is close to some of our relatives, so I am sure we will be back. After all, why not? When you need a quick meal on your way in or out of town, it's a great option. read more

The cooks just stand there looking at you like you're stupid The waitresses look like clowns and the ceilings are dirty. Brandt Pike. Super loud music and plate stacking. I literally had to plug my ears several times bc the noise was hurting them. No smothered (cheese) on my hash browns, toast in sandwich not toasted. My husband didn't even get his waffle. We asked to take it home after they brought the bill before the waffle. Very disappointing experience at this location. read more

My youngest brother and I were having some brother time we decided to stop in a Waffle House on our way to his house. We stopped at two that were closed possibly due to the Scamdemic. Then we found this one. As it turned out this one was packed. I'm guessing partly because the other two were closed but most likely because a lot of pot smoking concert attendees had the munchies. My brother put a couple dollars in the jukebox. He played a wide variety of music. The crowd REALLY enjoyed his selections. They were singing , dancing, giving Thumbs upand high fives. Our waitress was an older woman probably near my age. I'm having trouble recalling her name but I'm sure it will come to me. My brother had steak and eggs. He said the steak was cooked just right. I had bacon and eggs over easy with hashbrowns and toast. All were good . My bacon and eggs were cooked just right. I would have preferred more bacon but didn't want to pay extra. My toast was just right. My brother had grits instead of potatoes. He said they were well prepared. It was a fun way to end our evening. This Place is always busy. Several parties were waiting for tables but we got seated right away at the counter. Staff were friendly, Efficient and calm despite being very busy. Waffles are very tasty but this isn't the joint if you're on any kind of diet. read more

I stopped in for a quick bite of breakfast and some coffee at about 9:00 AM and it was a fairly busy morning for them. Still, I was waited on almost immediately and I had a cup of coffee poured as soon as I turned the cup right side up. That's what W.H. is all about, they don't mess around. I ordered Hashbrowns - Covered, Smothered and Capped (Cheese, Onions and Mushrooms) with a scrambled egg. Time from placing order to gettin' in my belly: 'bout 5 minutes. Satisfaction Level: High. 5 stars for amazing food. Loved the perfectly cooked over easy eggs, cheesy grits, and extra crispy bacon. My fiance says the gravy is better than Bob Evans (plus they charge $3 at Bob Evans and they added the gravy to his hash browns for free here). Our waitress, Roni, kept my coffee cup full!!! They did have a loud waitress named Carla who wore her mask incorrectly under her nose and kept pulling it under her mouth to talk. I love supporting small business but the Waffle House on Brandt Pike has the worst customer service. I had already walked in and was seated before everyone else. When I saw people getting served before me I was livid! I just go vacated my seat and told the server ma'am I was here before all the people getting served before me. Her reply was I'm sorry but she still kept serving the other customers. They were having issues with who was serving who. It's sad customer service has significantly depleted with some establishments. Most certainly the worst service ever. Plus every time I go there. In the last 2 wks. have went to different Waffle Houses (2x 202 location & 1x Vandalia). I was lead to believe that Roni, from this Brandt location that the prices have gone up. I always order exactly the same thing ($11.50 total). On May 10th was told by Roni that my order was $12.06, and that prices had gone up. Exeptional Waffle House meal today, service was great and the meal was prepared to perfection with little wait although the restaurant was full. As cook Q proclaimed to his chef counterpart Jay "I'm on fire today!" They certainly were. Bacon was ordered extra crispy and was perfect. The over easy eggs looked like an ad for the national egg counsel. And the signature pecan waffle prepared with a perfectly crispy exterior and soft on the inside. They're always quick to fix any human error in food if it's too done, or not done enough. They are open 365 days a year, even on Christmas!
