This was actually my first time visiting this location. A previous check in was meant for a different location. My son and I came here for Sunday breakfast/brunch. We weren't too pleased with our usual Waffle House during the last visit so we decided to give this one a try. It wasn't busy at all when we arrived. The employees gave us a warm welcome and we were seated immediately. I got the All Star Breakfast and everything was delicious, especially the pecan waffle! I loved that they served us everything at once. That's a big pet peeve of mine! While the employees and food were all excellent, I took one star off for cleanliness. This location can definitely use some attention. The counter where we sat was wiped but very sticky. Our syrup container also had syrup running down the sides when the waitress handed it to us. The prevalence of Confederate flags comes with attitudes clinging to that era. An era of white supremacy. Well, this Wafflehouse is a stones throw from the former home of the President of the Confederate states, Jefferson Davis. My mom is 80 and has difficulty walking following a surgery, and age. She wanted Wafflehouse. This is one of many with a view of the Gulf of Mexico and beaches. We entered and looked for tables. In nearly every WH I've been to in any city or state, the staff customarily greets you and tells you to take any available seat. They acknowledge you. Not this location. Not a head looked in our direction. Not a mouth opened. We even had two little girls with us. Children usually elicit a response from grown-ups in the service industry. Tips and sales are on the line. Nothing. There is no need to say a word. They've made their decision. Not a chance asking for service would lead to a meal I would trust eating. Left, drove a few miles east. Different Wafflehouse, different worl. Greeted and seated. This was as expected. Orders and tips $65. $65 The other location didn't need, I guess. They are franchise owned. I'm in Montgomery Al and then back to Gulfport. I do plan on returning without my family to see if alone, they even look up. If not, this time, I'll make it known I plan on writing Corp to let them know a franchisee is not supporting their corporate ethos. Until then. -5 rocks. The staff is the reason I am giving this 5 stars. Everyone there was so friendly. I was serious about when I told Megan she was so kind and I hoped to see her again next time. She had great recommendations and see how she was one of the managers. Our party was a bit large and would have been split apart between the 6 tables available so took over the long counter/bar. There was also a jukebox which was a cool touch. You can download the app and pay with your card if you don't have cash. The biscuit and gray was super affordable and buttery. I go to the Waffle House a lot. Probably 2-4 times a week. I normally take my Onewheel and the crew typically lets me set it down inside near where I am sitting and out of the way. The crew on march 16th at 6pm said as I walked in the door I have to leave it outside. I asked if that was a new rule and they said no. So I left and went to the Waffle House down the road and they let me in. I don't know what has changed since yesterday but that just made no sense to me. It is not posed anywhere. I feel like I'm not being too unreasonable. It is just the size of a skateboard. I hope when I go back the crew is the people I normally see. read more

Okay, so I know you see a lot of waffle houses almost every corner and you probably drive right past it, but you should stop on in and get a delicious cup of coffee there! I feel like this is the Denny's or IHOP but BETTER! Upon driving up, it looks like a typical restaurant but what I like about it is that it looks like a diner style restaurant. Upon walking in, you are immediately greeted by the employees there, we were seated right away and our food was delivered to us extremely quickly! We sat at the bar stools and we were able to see our food cook in front of us. The coffee is delicious- we even asked what kind of coffee it was because it just tasted different in a delicious way. Turns out, it is their special house blend coffee! I got the breakfast bacon and eggs sandwich and it came with hashbrowns as well. The hashbrowns weren't like the regular string hashbrowns but they looked like spaghetti strings- regardless, it was cooked crispy and deliciously! You can even top it with different items too- you can get it with cooked onions mixed in, cheese, peppers, jalapenos, and a few other things! YUMMY! I got the hashbrowns with onions and my boyofriend got the hasbrown bowl, where he added jalapenos, onions, cheese and ham. Let me tell you, those ham cubes were pretty hefty sized cubes and his bowl of hasbrowns was a hearty bowl too. All in all, when I come by and visit, I am going to go back to this place. I know it's simple diner food, but something about the friendly atmosphere, the clean interior, and the talks and laughter from people there makes you want to come back and grab a nice cup of coffee. read more

Last time I was in a Waffle House was shortly after 9/11. I recently dropped in on one on the Gulf Coast. BTW, I counted on a map, and there are about 30 in a 40 mile stretch along the coasts of MS and LA. Wow. I sat at the counter, sipping my Joe, and indulged in some bacon and eggs, cooked as ordered, with a smattering of cheese on the hash browns. If you haven't been to a Waffle House, they are a chain across the South, with diminutive facilities, and a menu focused on breakfast, a few sandwiches, and a couple of entrees. If you're so inclined, you can even get a T-bone there for around $10. Breakfasts run in the $3-$4 range. The chain is particularly proud of their hash browns, which you can ordered "smothered, covered, chunked, diced, peppered, capped, topped, or country." The descriptions all refer to different add-on ingredients, and the taters are available in three different portion sizes. They have not come up with a word (unless there is a secret menu) which would refer to ordering the hash browns with all of those additions. They should. My breakfast and coffee were just fine, they are big on consistency, and as such, a very dependable road stop. They have over 2000 locations in 25 states; they started in 1955 in Georgia. The company hasn't avoided controversy over the years, with a couple of religious and racial issues receiving some attention, but it seems behind them. read more

Well, I come to this location often since it's the one closest to my home. And generally I have had a pretty good experience. I've eaten in and had to-go orders, and I've never had a problem. Until today. I went in about 2:30 pm and was greeted warmly, as usual. It wasn't crowded; there were a group of people sitting in a booth on one side of the restaurant, and another group on the other side. There was one person at the low bar. That's it. I headed to a booth on the north side of the restaurant. The server greeted me and told me to sit anywhere I wished and that she would be with me soon. I sat next to the both with the other group (And on the same side of the restaurant with the person sitting at the low bar). She proceeded to wait on that group bringing them their food and drinks. I patiently waited while she did all that because she was large lady and was moving slowly. She finally finished up with them, and even though I felt like she should've at least taken my drink order while she was going back and forth getting their food, I overlooked it. Finally, she was finished taking care of them. I knew I was next. She disappeared to the other side of the restaurant. I turned my head over there and she was standing there talking to the other server and the other people in the booth. I have been there for 10 minutes, probably more. That was my cue to leave. When I grabbed my purse and walked out, The lady next to me said "You haven't been waited on YET?" No, not even a drink order. I told her there were plenty of other Waffle Houses. But I actually ended up at a neighboring restaurant. Very disappointing, especially since I've never had a problem with service there before. I really enjoyed the food and the service here. We were visiting Biloxi and wanted to stop for breakfast after my sons late night game. It was so so good. My hubby had the pork chops and I had the two egg breakfast. The grits were a bit thick for my preference but that did not take away from the taste. Went with a couple of guys out to this Waffle House next to the Holiday Inn I briefly stayed. It was a smaller Waffle House, we sat at the bar and I ordered the grits, two eggs over easy, and waffles. Waffles were pretty good, crispy, good flavor. I would come back and order it again--perhaps in a different Waffle House. The cool thing is they're 24 hours. The one thing that ruined it for me is the cigarette smoke. I saw a gentleman in a far corner puffing away; I saw a mom smoking while two of her kids were eating. Well, coming from CA, this is something I might see in a Las Vegas casino. Today it was a little louder and busier. Breakfast can be slow and service with southern hospitality warm and friendly. This is not a place for picky eaters due to consistency issues and how often the faces change. So if you want something cooked a certain way or need something changed let them know ahead of time. We just started to come down for Crusin the Coast car show. Everywhere we go out for food is always packed! This Waffle House is the most organized I have ever seen. We walked into a packed house but we were greeted with a big smile and warm welcoming. We waited in line for 10 mins but they offered us drinks and menus which I loved. I was in need of my coffee ASAP! Once we were at our table our waitress was very attentive and sweet the whole time. We watched as cooks moved quickly but efficiently to get all the orders out in a timely matter. The store was very clean during the huge rush the whole time I was in the building.
