From perspective of Nov. wedding guest-the building is gorgeous. it was cold inside. I never found a heat source. Both dining rooms were used in addition to blowup addition. Hors d'oeuvres were good. Bar service was good. Main meal - hour wait between soup and main course. Beef not cooked to order. Soup and meat luckwarm by time it was served. Ravioli serving small with no side. Horrible risotto. Despite this, everyone seemed to have a great time. Very happy gathering but things to consider before putting out all that money. read more

Just went o a wedding reception here it was the classiest wedding I have ever attended. Picture walking through the front foyer and directly into a view of the expansive grounds flanked my hydrangea trees on either side. Yea that is were the ceremony took place. The concrete patio leading to the ceremony functioned as both the cocktail hour area and dance floor. String lights cross-crossed overhead to create an intimate look once the sun went down. Very cool. There was also an artist who composed a painting of the view of the back of the mansion, complete with the couple dancing in the center. It was my understanding that she is associated with the mansion directly so definitely inquire about hiring her. Food was terrific, although I do not know if the mansion has a specific caterer or an outside party was hired. This venue was fantastic and I hope everyone gets a chance to attend a wedding here. read more

I didn't even know this place existed until I attended an outdoor event here this past weekend. The grounds were beautiful and the view of the mansion in the background was breathtaking. Some parts of the mansion were open to the public for viewing and from what I saw it was gorgeous. The staff was quite informative regarding the history of the mansion, and they welcomed any questions. I hope to return in the future. read more

This past summer, my girlfriend and I had the pleasure of attending several outdoor events at the Wadsworth Mansion. Each and every time, we leave vehemently exclaiming how well organized the events are. From the free concerts to the open air markets and festivals -- the Wadsworth Mansion is a good time. Most recently, we went strolling from tent to tent shopping the fresh produce, fruit, cheese, breads and prepared foods. Several local artisans are also on hand where you can find potters, painters, and jewelers displaying works for sale. If you're pooped from all the shopping, lounge on the lawn with some lunch and listen to live music performed on the patio. Altogether, a great venue for families and everyone alike. read more

LOVE the Halloween parties this place puts on every year. They are a really fun time, with DJ, food, drink, and all-around cool people. I was there last year [2010] with several friends, and we had a total blast. Tickets are $38 a person and will get you some light dinner fare (think carving station, crudite, veggies and dip), a nightlong dance party with other costumed Halloween enthusiasts, and entry into the costume contest. Not great. A beautiful location (so what?) and no thought to service or food quality. Serving staff was. Wry nice however, but the way things were run and food quality were poor. There was entirely too much dead time just waiting for food to come for example. Self serve coffee after the meal ran out in a flash. Basically; a nice place to see but I wouldn't want to visit there. read more

Gorgeous venue! I went here for a wedding anniversary, and the grounds were beautiful. There was ample parking. The event was catered, and the couple we were celebrating set up everything else, so all I can review here is the grounds. There was a huge field in the back that was beautifully groomed, and there were rooms and a balcony upstairs that were pretty nice! read more

Oh Goodness. What a gorgeous, gorgeous place. We attended the "Engaged Gala" there and fully enjoyed the space and decor. Amazing lights lit up the front pillars and the main hall held the dance floor. This place would be best for what we were there for - a cocktail, walking around, enjoying yourself type event. I can't imagine it packed with round tables for a wedding. Perhaps long rectangle tables - that would definitely be best. I'm looking forward to attending more events here in the future. The driveway is also amazing to drive down when the uplighting is done. Nothing not to love about here - even the staff is fantastic. read more

Beautiful grounds. I've been here summertime and in the fall. My dogs love the great lawn to romp and play. The last 2 times we came it wasn't crowded at all. this is a perfect place to have a picnic lunch and enjoy a quiet spot. I've never been inside the mansion but it must be a spectacular a place. read more

Honestly - If you are booking this venue for a "wedding", get ready for bunch of "HIDDEN CHARGES". They are eager to fool you and will NOT mention anything ahead of time. My friend's wedding - she literally paid around $3500- $4000 in hidden charges ( like wait staff fees,linens,cutlery,cleaning,chairs,staff etc. ) . Also, never expect a security deposit back in full, not because you did any damages, they have other excuses to make like " our supervisor stayed 1/2 hr late after event, so we have to charge for that " ...really ??!! Without any reason, if Wadsworth supervisor stays in the mansion, we (customers) have to pay for it ??!! yes, thats what my friend paid for- Purely fraud. It makes sense, if we made mess or some reason supervisor waiting after event - just to make extra bucks, they fool you. Want to take a step back in time to the 1920's and feel like you're in "The Great Gatsby"? Take a trip to the Wadsworth Mansion! I've been to numerous events in recent years hosted at the Wadsworth Mansion, and have been in awe every time. I've attended several bridal fashion shows, salon parties, a wedding, a "ball", and several others. I used to work for a florist and would set up various events here also. The long driveway up to the mansion provides suspense, and every time I see the mansion I gasp. It is beautiful! There is ample parking on either side of the entrance, and a beautiful roundabout for cars to drop guests off. The interior is fascinating. They have maintained everything to look original, and there are interesting photos on the walls depicting what the mansion used to look like/history of how it's changed. The grounds are amazing- meticulously kept and luscious in the warmer months. The only potential drawback that I see at The Wadsworth Mansion is the layout. It is a period mansion, and the rooms are meant to be divvied up as such, but if hosting a wedding here, it could feel very segregated- having a dance floor in one room, two other dining rooms, etc. Overall, a somewhat hidden gem in central CT. read more

In the last two years, we have attended several functions here. The wedding that we went to was quite lovely, although I did not like the fact that the guests had to be split between two rooms during the sit down meal. The actual wedding was performed inside at the Mansion and I thought that it was well done, from the seating to the breakdown and setup of the cocktail hour immediately afterwards. I recently returned the other night for a business function and again, thought that the grounds and the inside were lovely. I could do without the faux trim wallpaper, however. read more

Amazing beautiful space. Came here for a wedding reception and the venue is perfectly decorated, i.e. not too much ornate decoration. The layout of the ground floor is perfect for moving between the dance floor, outdoors, eating area, and the restrooms. The grounds are kept virtually perfect and are exactly the right conditions for doing cartwheels and playing frisbee, or frolicking, if that's more your style. read more

We went but couldn't find a safe place to park our car without getting it damaged. We ended up turning around and leaving.

The grounds were very pretty and there was a warm and comfortable environment, plenty of room to dance. We went to the Mansion for the Valentines day dance on February 11th 2017, I paid $150 for (2) tickets. That cost didn't include drinks and they were selling raffle tickets like some kind of fund raiser. The wine and beer were $5 each and the mix drinks were $7 a piece. My wife and I weren't impressed with the food. The hors d'oeuvres were served and small cheap glasses with tiny plastic spoons that could've easily broken in your hand, the risotto which was cold mushy rice that didn't have any flavor and the small pieces of salmon were dry. I've spent less elsewhere where and gotten better service and quality of food. The majority of the people at the event were over mid 50's, overall very disappointed with what I got for my money. We actually spent the previous night at Hawks Landing for their tasting event ($25 per person) and had a fantastic time. Definitely pass on this place not worth the time or money. read more
