They were able to do the work while I was away on a trip, so both of the stoops could be completed at the same time. There was a delay getting the railings from the supplier I ordered them from, and JZS was very patient while waiting for them to arrive. Once the railings came in, they were installed in a timely manner and my front and side entrances look great! Overall, I think they were fair priced, completed the job as quoted, and were on time and professional. I would definitely recommend JZS Concrete for your project.

The positives: The contractor got back to me right away and showed up when he said he would. The job was done ahead of the original schedule. The contractor offered a discount for cash payment. The contractor was very nice to work with. The crew did a decent job of cleaning the yard when they were finished. The crew did a decent job on the concrete itself. The not-so-positives: The crew very likely nicked the electrical wiring to my outdoor lamppost when they dug the old concrete up. I had to pay an electrician to repair the damage. Since the electrician wouldn't say for sure that the contractor was responsible for the damage, I did not push the issue of asking him to pay for repairs. The last thing the crew did was install the new railing on the stoop when I was not home. The railings had to be cut to fit for length and balusters fitted on the railing as it was installed. They installed 7 balusters on one of the step railings and 8 balusters on the other, even though the railings are the same size. The difference is fairly noticeable, which is disappointing because it's at the front of my house. One of the crew members said they'd put my post mailbox back where they found it when they were finished, but that didn't happen. There was some minor damage done to the siding when the old railings were taken off the house. To be fair, they did attempt to fix it, esthetically. Overall: They did a decent job on the concrete itself, were responsive, and they were nice to work with. I felt they could have been more careful. I probably would consider another concrete contractor unless I just needed basic concrete work done away from buildings, wiring, etc.

They told us we needed to pay a deposit for materials - no problem was only $300. Deposit paid and work scheduled. No one showed up, no one called. I tried calling and emailing, no response for about a month or so, or if I called a got a message saying this jumber was not accepting calls. Finally we got an email saying there was a family emergency and that's why they haven't been in contact. Ok, I understand stuff happens. But - after scheduling again they don't show up or contact us! After another month or so I left a message/sent an email. They said there was a death in the family but they would start the job the following Monday (last week). Guess what! No one showed! And no word of getting the deposit back. I even tried contacting them on Facebook - message was read but no response. I work for a fairly large company so we will take the $300 as a loss and find a more professional and reliable company.

The original masonry project was for $500. This included the contractor paying for materials (the…read moreconcrete and the "parge" materials). I then asked him if he can do a railing with the understanding since it is not his expertise that I was buying the railing and the screws. This project was originally quoted over a phone call for $300 which he then tried to ask for more and I told him if he was not sticking to his word that he could take the railing project out and continue on with work on the chimney only. The remainder of the chimney (his expertise so materials like the first job should have been included in the job quote) was to be $500. He stated he would stick to his quote to complete the requested job (railing and chimney) for $850 the 50 extra for the concrete screws needed to complete the install of the railing. Once he completed the railing he requested to be paid $500 now $300 for the chimney. I agreed to this with the understanding that the chimney would then be knocked down to 300. He then back tracked multiple times trying to get more money for the chimney by sending materials costs to me (which any contractor should already have factored this into the quote and like was previously factored into the original quote). I then declined services after calling out the inconsistencies. He then proceeded to text me again to apologize for not sticking to his word and "being a good guy" would complete the project as originally stated. Which I then refused again. He proceeded to send a long message trying to justify all his actions and lack of sticking to his word. I would never hire this company again as they clearly are not professionals with quoting out jobs and blaming the consumer that they didn't do things properly.
